Thaksin returns to Thailand

BANGKOK: -- Thai Rak Thai Party leader Thaksin Shinawatra returns to Bangkok early Thursday morning.

Thaksin arrived at the Don Muang International Airport at 5:30 pm.

He was received by several caretaker Cabinet members, including acting caretaker Prime Minister Chidchai Vanasatidaya.

Asked whether he had met British Prime Minister Tony Blair and US President George Bush, Thaksin said yes, adding that he would meet them again.

When asked where he would visit today, he replied that he was unemployed so he would go anywhere he wanted.

How did I miss any news of him meeting with Bush or Blair on this trip?

Or did he mean ... "I have met them (in the past)and will meet them in the future?

if I got it right (and that is very unsure), he is still PM and just let the other clown sign in his name, as well he is still TRT leader (owner??).

in my humble opinion the parliament assigns a new PM, but there is no parliament at the moment.

And Toxin never stepped back from his job, or?

did I understand that right?

(actually that all sounds very stupid, so I think I have a good chance that it is true).

If he is 'unemplyed' as he puts it, why was he meeting with country leaders like Bush and Blair?

Surely thats the job of the PM of Thailand, which by his own admission he is not.

Bush isn't smart enough to know that Thaksin isn't the PM anymore!

But he knows that Thailand is not part of China, or was it Taiwan which is not part of China??

Or both?

Bin Laden was in Austria, lets bomb Sydney.

The guy in Teheran is still taking bs, I thought we conquered Iran already, or was that Iraq....

Everywhere these Arabs and Asian trying to confuse me....

He stated before he left that he planned to meet both Blair and Bush, naturally on his return he had to say that he did meet both (read face) He quite possibly had a private meeting with Blair, but he would not have had the time to fly to the US and back in the brief time he was away, and Bush did not visit England. :o

What he was discussing with Blair is anyones guess, as he has no official political title at present, not withstanding his leadership of the TRT party :D

I doubt Thaksin would make up stories about such a thing.

That's a rather bold statement you make. Do you think that you'll convince anybody that Thaksin is NOT prone to exaggerating or being economical with the truth? Ha!

If you knew anything about politics in the US and the UK, you'd understand that it's unlikely that any meetings took place secretly. Their schedules are made public to the media, and besides, they've been much too busy with other things lately to make time on very short notice for a visit from a discredited third-world leader who fancies himself as an international statesman.

EDIT: Furthermore, Bush couldn't get away from meeting Thaksin now without drawing the wrath of Congress. Both Republican and Democratic Reps have never trusted Thaksin from the very beginning. A little more background can be found here

At no time did he say WHEN he met them .... (thus not a lie) ... he has met them both in the past. He assumes he will meet them in the future :-) Next time the reporters need to ask "Did you meet President Bush of the USA and PM Blair of the UK THIS trip?"

A classic !

Reminds me of Prince Charles comments about waxwork leaders on

the handover of Hong Kong.

Thaksin relies on the majority Thai believing what he says on TV.

Intelligent Thais will soon suss the bastard out.

Thaksin like Blair is the ultimate 'Spiv' - they are both dangerous to

a lot of people.

Surely then its just a matter of checking their schedules.

Are they published on the net?

To be honest I'm sure the comment was aimed at his up country supporters. Everyone knows Bush and Blair. They are widely seen as just about the two most powerful men in the world, and that they still have time to have coffee with Mr. Thaksin shows they still know who is number one in Thailand. I also doubt that many of his up cpuntry supporters will be jumping onto a computer to check the veracity of his statement. It seems that there are many games to be played out yet.

No, but the media covers all important events that are in the schedules.

It's unlikely Blair or Bush would meet any foreign leader and the media didn't report a word on it.

I heard that someone that looked like Thaksin was in Houston, Texas US last week.

It is my understanding that he was play golf on one of the more elite Country Club Golf Courses in Houston.

An illegitimate Thaksin child will soon be running for governor of Texas, and then on to presidency! :D
