Thai Lady Murdered In Jomtien

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Sunday afternoon was a peaceful day in my condo as usual untill about 4:20 Pm when screams were heard coming from a condo on the floor above me. My G/F came racing home saying that a faralang had just killed a Thai lady. Her body was found on the floor in a pool of blood with her hands tied behind her back a rope around her neck and also mulitiple stab wounds. I was told the guy comes from Finland after the attack he jumpted over the balcony from the 2nd floor wearing only a pair of shorts no shirt jumpted onto his motor bike and took off past security. The mans wife was at a local market selling fish when this guy decided to get himself another girl in for a short time while wifey was at work.

What went wrong I dont know but I have been told that the guy was on heavy medication for depression, I have only been told this so Im not 100% if its true. By 4:45Pm there was a large crowed gathered including Police, Police volinteers, Ambulance etc.

May she Rest in Peace and I cant imagine the shock the wife would have received when she arrived home.

Best wishes Tony :o

Condolences to the friends and family of the victim. I hope they find out what exactly went wrong and I hope the thread doesn't end up closed because of comments that are meant to be humorous. I had enough trouble resisting.

Like I said at the top its only hearsay about the medication. Some more news just came in from managment that the girl's hands were tied behind her back, somthing tied around her neck, stabbed 15 times in the back, twice in both arms and twice in the face. This is not the first murder that I have seen the body but it still shocks me to see this kind of thing happen to any one, this is such a sad story as many peoples lives will be affected.

What on earth could be humorous about this situation?

I'm sorry I asked that question. Please don't reply. I. for one, would rather not be privy to your sense of humour.

Tragic.

The story is in today's Thai language newspaper. However the man is described as Icelandic, not Finlandic. Something clearly went wrong here, and unfortunately this is the third such case in the last few months.

It does not help with the perceived views of farangs in Pattaya and Thailand.

Police hunt for Irishman after Thai girl's murder

POLICE in Thailand investigating the gruesome murder of a bar girl were last night seeking to question a 40-year-old Irishman.

Denis Leahy, from Dublin, was being sought after the brutal stabbing to death of the 24-year-old Thai woman.

The incident happened yesterday between 5pm and 5.30pm, local time, in the sex tourist city of Pattaya, 160km south of the capital Bangkok.

The woman's naked body was found in an apartment beside the city's well-known Jomtien Beach.

Police say she had her hands tied behind her back before she was stabbed up to 20 times with a knife.

It is understood a hammer was also used in the attack. She was found lying face up in a pool of blood on the floor of the apartment by a security guard who had heard her screams. The security guard went to the apartment just as a man was trying to leave. The man then ran back into the house and jumped out of a window.

He escaped on a hired motorcycle, wearing only shorts. Police suspect she was killed in a quarrel over money.

The dead woman was from Udon Thani in the northeast of the country. She had travelled to Pattaya to work in a local bar.

It is understood Mr Leahy was staying in a rented apartment in Pattaya with another Thai woman.

Police were last night interviewing Mr Leahy's girlfriend of two years. She had not been in the apartment when the woman was killed.

Located in the province of Chon Buri, Pattaya is one of the largest centres for tourism in Thailand, with some five million visitors arriving annually. The city has about 100,000 registered inhabitants, though its actual population at any one time is thought to be closer to 500,000.

The official figure excludes the large number of Thais who work in Pattaya but remain registered in their hometowns and the many long-term expatriate visitors.

Despite its reputation as a destination for sex tourism, Pattaya has seen a large increase in family tourism in recent years, along with a more wholesome image.

The city suffers from a high murder rate, however, with many of the crimes involving expatriates, and has been dubbed Thailand's "Costa del Crime".

For several years, it has served as a hideaway for foreigners with connections to organised crime, and dozens of people have been murdered in gang-related disputes.

But the authorities are increasingly cracking down on paedophiles, and a number of high-profile arrests of wanted sexual predators have been made in recent years.

One newspaper summed up Pattaya's attraction to British criminals, saying: "In the 1980s, Spain's Costa del Sol was the destination of choice for many British criminals. Today, they head to Thailand, where the beaches are stunning, the women cheap and the police are bribable."

Ouch!!! That one's gonna raise some eyebrows at City Hall...coming from an outside news source.

I cannot understand how you guys can assume this man is guilty before he is tried and convicted. Give him a chance to have his day in court before you hang him.

The wife could have come home, caught them at it, stabbed the girl, bribed the security guard, and gone back to work.

Or, a ghost could have done it.

Or, the girl could have tied herself up and stabbed herself in the back. Farangs often commit suicide here in such ways.

The seemingly impossible is possible here in Thailand.

Did anyone check the knife for prints?

Update:

Irishman caught and charged with murdering a Thai woman in his Jomtien Apartment

PATTAYA: -- Police Lieutenant Colonel Somgiet from Dongtan Police sub-station in Jomtien was called to apartment number 444/32 on the second floor of the Baan Suan Lana Apartment Complex in Soi Chayapreuk to investigate the apparent murder of a young female.

He arrived and was met by Khun Ongart, a Security Guard working at the complex who was alerted after residents informed him of an apparent violent altercation taking place inside the room. Khun Ongart summoned the assistance of other guards and upon their arrival they attempted to gain entry to the room.

Moments later the front door opened and a foreign man, identified by the guards as Mr. Denis Anthony Leahy aged 38 from Ireland ran past them and was seen leaving the scene on a motorbike. Inside the room, guards discovered the naked body of Khun Bupha aged 24.

Her arms were bound together and her throat had been slashed and a further 15 stab wounds were found on her back. Police soon arrived and examined the room which showed clear evidence of a violent commotion.

The suspected murder weapon, a blood stained army-style machete was found in the room.

It is known that Mr. Leahy lives in the apartment with his Thai wife, Khun Janyar aged 28, a local market vendor who returned from her days work just after Police arrived. She was clearly shocked at what she saw and confirmed that she did not know the murder victim and was currently unaware of her Husband’s whereabouts. Immigration Police at Airports and border points around Thailand were alerted and an arrest warrant for Mr. Leahy, who is the prime suspect in this murder case, was issued.

We now understand that Mr. Leahy is in custody and was arrested in Central Pattaya. We expect a press conference on Monday evening and will update you further when we receive more information.

Tying her hands behind her back. That is not insane rage. He knew exactly what he was doing. Please let there be a hel_l after this life.

Of course he should at least rot in prison for the rest of his life.

I can't believe someone who checks drugs in his suitcase at the airport would suffer the same fate as this guy.

There's too many inconsistencies in the different reports.

One says he jumped over the 2nd floor balcony, whereas the latest one says he ran past the security guards to escape. One says he's 40 years old and lives with his Thai girlfriend, the other says he's 38 and married.

We should wait before we condemn this man for murder, his "wife" could be involved.

Question.... are there any stats about this, i.e. bkk v.s. pattaya. Maybe more expats down there, i dont know, but seems to be the run of the mill in pattaya.

Sick bastard.... for sure

Stats

From what I see, Pattaya attracts nutters from all over the world. If you have a mental problem, Pattaya will make the worst of it.

I have a friend who had a mental break down many years ago. Since he has recovered or it would seem. Last weekend his Thai Girl friend confided in me showing text messages he had been sending to her. He is in Pattaya now and sent them from here

“you better watch out, I well k*ll you” “You will be in hel_l before me” and more

When I approached the subject with him his repsonce “ I was drunk and bitter at the time”. To be honest I hope this is the case as I do not know what to do to help.

Denis Anthony

Taxi Hero, helped hunting for Irishman after Thai girl‘s murder.

Denis Anthony, Irish man from Dublin, was being sought after the brutal stabbing to death of the 24-year-old Thai woman in a condo Baan Suan Lalana, Soi Chaiyapruk.

Denis Anthony, Irish man from Dublin, was being sought after the brutal stabbing to death of the 24-year-old Thai woman in a condo Baan Suan Lalana, Soi Chaiyapruk.

The incident happened yesterday between 5pm and 5.30pm. The woman's naked body was found lying face down in a pool of blood on the floor of the apartment by a security guard who had heard her screams.

The security guard went to the apartment just as a man was trying to leave. The man then ran back into the room and jumped out of a balcony and escaped on a hired motorcycle, wearing only shorts. Police suspect she was killed in a quarrel over money.

Police were last night interviewing Mr Anthony's wife of two years. She had not been in the apartment when the woman was killed.

At 14.00, November 20th, at a small taxi table of Soi Chaiyapruk corner, 500 meters from where the incident took place, Itsarapong Nongyai, the leader of taxi drivers, was organizing the taxi service queue for the tourists .

After he finished reading the daily newspaper, he saw a white man, wearing shorts and a brand new long sleeve T-shirt to cover his wounds. He kept his cap down when walked to the counter and asked for a taxi to the Cambodia border. He then got Pongsan, a driver who was willing to drive the long distance for 3000 baht.

The driver took off and after five minutes, he was looking at the passenger who sat in the back seat through the mirror while his phone was ringing, he answered the phone then pulled the taxi into a petrol station, told his passenger that he wanted to buy some drinks.

Itsarapong, the taxi leader, after he had taken a second look at the Irish suspect's photo on the front page of his newspaper, had called the taxi driver and told him of his plan. He then quickly called the police to report that he thought he had the suspect wanted by the police. He then drove to the petrol station to see if his plan was still under control.

At the “Petronas” petrol station on Sukhumvit Road, Central Pattaya, Itsarapong found the police officers had already found Denis, the killer, who had been sleeping in the back seat of the taxi.

The police showed the warrant of arrest from the court to Denis and brought him to the police station for further investigation.

The Irish man confessed to the police, that he had had a very bad argument with his wife so when she left for work, he then rode the motorbike to pick up Bupha, the murder victim, to have sex with her.

He said the cause of the brutal killing was the encouraged muscle {steroids?} tablets that he took and while he was having sex with her, he could not control himself, he tied her up and stabbed her several times until she died.

After he escaped on the bike, he found himself hiding in bushes behind a Pattaya Park hotel when he woke up in the next morning. With the money he had, he managed to buy a new shirt and a cap. He planed to escape through the Cambodia border where he travelled previously on visa run trips.

During the investigation, Denis was attacked by the woman’s relatives who were listening to the entire procedure.

The Thai TV news last night said they found plenty of Viagra pills in the house.

Maybe they are the "encouraged muscle {steroids?} tablets" mentioned in the article.

Viagra or steroids , really shouldn't cause this 'mind altering action' add a few zanax or valium with some large quantities of alcohol and you get a completely different person. I will never defend such actions but lots of guys on here easily nip down to the pharmacy and grab a few zanax (or whatever), maybe to chill them out, or help them sleeping, but when you add alcohol, that person is no longer in control of themselves.

Ignorance is no defence, but please all you guys who mix your meds and go on the p1ss, take note, or you may end up being discussed on TV in the same way this guy is.

Just my tuppence worth.

I took a sh*tload of drugs in my younger days, but I never came close to killing anyone.

What ever happened to personal responsibility? :o

This story is reported on again in the Thai language newspapers. It appears that security guards alerted by the commotion in the room prior to the killing were afraid to 'break and enter'. The security guards also mention that the victim was shouting resistance to being sodomized by the killer.

Although this is a frenzied and crazy attack, I doubt whether steroids can transform one into a maniacal murderer. I have only known drug-influence to be accepted once in a murder trial, (that was subsequently reduced to manslaughter) and that was a Carbon Monoxide stupor.

It will be up to friends and family to decide whether Mr Denis Leahy was a 'decent chap'. But the only just sentence would be life imprisonment and hard labour with weekly psychiatric treatment.

Irishman charged with murder of Thai prostitute

Dubliner held hours after body of woman found in apartment

AN Irishman has been arrested and charged by Thai police investigating the gruesome murder of a young prostitute.

Denis Leahy (40), who is from Dublin, was in custody last night after a taxi-driver he hired to drive him to the Cambodian border from Pattaya in central Thailand recognised Mr Leahy's face from a 'wanted' photograph in a newspaper.

The taxi-driver contacted police, who swooped when the car pulled into a petrol station in Pattaya.

Mr Leahy was arrested 19 hours after the body of Bupha Tanyachiangphin (24), was discovered in his apartment near Pattaya's Jomtien Beach. Her hands were tied behind her back, before she was stabbed 22 times in the back, chest and throat. Police immediately sought out Mr Leahy in connection with the murder. Ms Tanyachiangphin, who was married, had been seen in his company.

Mob

A mob of about 30 people gathered outside the Pattaya police station yesterday as Mr Leahy was brought inside, and he was hit about the head a number of times before he got inside.

When asked yesterday if he was aware of what he had done, Mr Leahy replied: "Yes, and I am so sorry. You should have known what happened the night before.

"My girl and I had a discussion . . ." he continued, before being stopped by police. Mr Leahy also claimed he had taken steroids on the night in question, before being taken away for questioning.

Last night, Thai police claimed that Mr Leahy had described his crime in detail, and claimed that he killed the young woman while he had sex with her. A knife and hammer were used in the frenzied attack.

Mr Leahy has lived in Thailand for a number of years, with his passport showing that he has entered the south-east Asian country on different tourist visas from neighbouring countries at regular intervals. His last arrival was on October 17.

According to chief investigator Chalirmkiat Sirumark, Mr Leahy had lived with his 'wife' Janya for two years, and his apartment in Jomtien was fully-paid and registered in Janya's name.

Ms Tanyachiangphin worked as a "sai-lai" prostitute in the city, meaning she looked for clients in various bars and also on the beach, which is where she met Mr Leahy on Sunday.

A few hours later, her body was found in a pool of blood on the floor of his apartment by a security guard who had heard her screams. When the guard approached the apartment, he saw a man jump out the window and escape on a motorcycle.

German neighbour Oliver Engel described Mr Leahy as a "calm fellow", and said he had no history of alcohol abuse while he knew him.

Police in Pattaya will today hold a reconstruction of the crime.

Well it would be nice for the full story to get out. Can't see it changing too much, but it certainly is NOT being fully said or being allowed to be said, so far??
