I have read a few studies on this. But statins have solid outcomes studies conducted over decades all showing that whoever you are and whatever your starting cholesterol level is, MACE is reduced in all types of patients studied....so whether it is primary prevention of heart attack eg WOSCOPS, secondary prevention in patient who have had heart attacks 4S study and a host of others, the results are remarkably consistent. I watched a video about a year ago by a cardiologist that I had never heard of from the western US. He had observational data showing that lower LDL was not better, and in fact worsened outcomes. In the last two weeks there have been two other studies(one pre-peer review) allegedly showing the similar effects. I have only seen the press reports. The question I have is how come all those large, long =term outcomes studies on statin all showed a benefit? Were they wrong? Each result was statistically significant ie p< 0.05 ie each study had only a one in twenty chance of the result being incorrect. If you nave two positive studies then the chance of them both being incorrect falls to 1 in 400 and if 3 positive studies then the chance of them all showing an incorrect positive result is less than 1:8000. Do you see where I am going? A couple of small studies published now cannot negate a dozen or more positive studies done previously. The message being don't ditch your stating yet, at least not until some real non study experts have fully evaluated the most recent data.

In a similar vein, does anyone know roughly what a renewal on a one year old Alphard minivan should cost. I had one accident (my fault) that cost 15000 baht to repair at Toyota. The van came with free insurance but they now want about 50k baht for renewal....we have got other quotes from Viriyha which a 2-5000Baht cheaper (5000 cheaper if we are prepared to go to a shop that they specify, which I'm not). Roojai quoted 39000K but I don't like internet insurance....I like an office nearby that I can go in and talk to an actual person.

The government have been ignoring the huge problem at Suvarnabhumi for years....the immigration is a shambles with thousands of people queuing and half a dozen booths open. Disgraceful. And you want 100 million to visit. They will die of starvation and dehydration as they wait in the queues. If you want people to come make them feel welcome and have adequate staff to serve them. Tourism is a service industry, means that Thailand should make its desires subservient to the tourists, the customers. Piss them off and they won't come. Thailand is no longer cheap.

I just read the headline: Biden projects a vision of strength that’s been missing from his presidency. It is true his strength is a vision, not reality.

Just look at the graphs of numbers of undocumented aliens allowed in the country.....the rapid rise since Jan 2021 when he took office. The GOP should show this graph on every commercial. The economy is also crooked. Unemployment is rising, the number of jobs claimed get revised down each month. Jobs are measured in two ways one by Biden's Bureau of Labour Statistics and also by what is known as the Household survey....they are in conflict. What is telling is that the vast majority of claimed jobs created are part time and full time work is going down. The 3.1 million jobs 'created' are part time, and matches the number of undocumented alien admitted to the country since Biden took charge; and the number of people quitting is going down, indicating that full time work is not easy to find.
