PEA and Solar how low can you go?
MJCM replied to MJCM's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Yep but how else can you explain it then? What is so strange about your bill is the 1,40 Units. Normally they would work with only round numbers. (and in my calculations I think they have discounted the 1,40 units) So leaves 3 options IMHO (of course this is guessing) 1- ToU 2- Feed-in Tariff 3- ??????? So if I have to choose then it's #1, but let us know what is the conclusion of the PEA -
What is the type listed on the PEA / BILL? If you are 1125 then you would have paid 2,117.04 THB
-
Correct amount. 0 - 150 units = 487.26 THB 151- 384 units = 987.90 THB Service Charge 24.82 THB VAT 7% = 130.11 THB Ft (Fuel Surcharge) = 358.77 THB (if you would have stayed under 300 units this would be significantly (as @Andrew Dwyer calculated) 72% lower Total 1988,65 THB

Just start typing your post, then go to post you want to quote, select the text with your mouse and then press "Quote Selection" It will then show up in your post you are typing.

My guess (I could be wrong) is that you went into negative territory. What I mean by that is: Suppose Meter reader came on the 20th March and recorded current Meter reading as 9500 Units. Meter reader came (again) on the 20th April and recorded current Meter reading as 9495 Units. So you were 5 units under the previous reading and that is an absolute NO NO together with the Meter reader seeing your Meter spinning Backwards. Edit: During the Cool season (Nov - Feb) we were sometimes 20+ units in to negative territory (BUT never on Meter reading day), but as we check the meter often we stopped our Solar production and only started it up again after we were back into positive territory.
-
Yep the FT for usages under 300 units is discounted from 0,9343 THB per unit to ONLY 0,26388 THB per unit. (it was even lower in For example Jan-Feb period (0,01393 THB)) But please DO Note. this was for months prior, can't say what is going to happen in the period April -May and further on

???? One thing (maybe helps or not) but when we bought the property next door, we wanted to change the name on the PEA Bill to my wife's, PEA advised us then to NOT change the name, but get a new meter which is a lot easier to do. Maybe that works the same in your case.
-
Business Yep! Normal households are 1125
-
Your quotes are all over the place But to answer your question, less then 300 Units will get the discount, but for how LONG that is not sure.
-
@KhunBENQ My guess you are on type 2.1 which is Small General Service on Normal Tariff and that is for businesses AFAIK and not for normal house holds. You should go to the PEA and get that corrected.
-
Who are you quoting and expecting to answer?
-
There is something wrong with that calculation. Looking at the MEA site for 704 Units you should have paid around 3,819.13 THB. Can you have a look at your PEA/MEA bill and see what it says under TYPE? (Is near the meter reading date) This calculator I used: https://www.mea.or.th/en/aboutelectric/116/280/form/12

No aircon no oven so no comfort
-
As far as I can see, previous months you stayed under the 300 Units per month on average, and with that you got a discount on the Ft Rate (Fuel Surcharge) going over those 300 Units per month the discount stopped.
-
Most normal house holds fall under 1.2 (or type 1125 as listed on your Bill) Edit: You could also look at your electricity meter (if you have the spinning wheel (older type) and NOT the electronic meter) If it says 5/15 you fall under 1.1 (which is type 1115) If it says 15/45 or 30/100 then you fall under 1.2 (which is type 1125)
-
@Fred Ziffel How many units did you use? Approx 520? The more you use the higher the price. For a normal house hold (type 1125 <- see your PEA/MEA bill for this number), the prices are like this 0 - 150 units price per unit 3,2484 THB 151 - 400 units price per unit 4,2218 THB 401+ units price per unit 4,4217 THB Please NOTE, these prices are WITHOUT the following 1- VAT 2- Ft Charge (Fuel Surcharge) 3- Service Charge (currently discounted to 24,62 THB for a house hold) NOTE: This calculation is based on House Holds that fall under 1125 (you can see that number on your bill under TYPE.) and thus not for companies etc etc. Re: FT, the Current Ft charge stands at 0,93430 THB per unit (so almost 1 THB added per Unit (Ft will increase (or not??????) to 0,98430 THB per unit. Previous Months (incl period March - April) users got a discount on the Ft if they used LESS then 300 Units. Using more then that (300> ) NO discounts. There is talk that the Ft will be eased, but we just have to wait and see what is going to happen A good calculator is : https://www.mea.or.th/en/aboutelectric/116/280/form/12

New house build - electrical system inspection
MJCM replied to unheard's topic in The Electrical Forum
+1 both our local builds had an inspection by the PEA before connecting up the “real” meter. In our old house it was just a quick glance but in our current house the inspection took a lot longer but the install passed and we got our meter ???????? -

Resort Owner Shocked As Power Bill Soars Over 700,000 Baht
MJCM replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand News
But to offset a Leccy Bill of 700k THB that would still need a major investment. Make it 25% only so lets say 700.000 / 4 = 175.000 THB leccy bill (Rough calculation) @Crossy please correct me if I am wrong) That would require approx 450.000W of Panels. Let's assume 1 Panel = 500W = 450.000W / 500W = 900 Panels Let's assume 1 Panel costs 4500 THB = 900 * 4500 = 4.050.000 THB (and that is for the panels alone thus not including labour, inverters, cables, mounting brackets etc etc etc etc) (adding batteries to store electricity to that would double or triple that amount) -

Don't forget to add Batteries ($$$) else you will only have air con running during the day ???? -
Resort Owner Shocked As Power Bill Soars Over 700,000 Baht
MJCM replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand News
Easy solution for that but only works when they leave the room but not for leaving the doors or windows open and keep the air con running
