You misunderstand the original concept of the modern Olympics. It was excellence in body and mind. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_competitions_at_the_Summer_Olympics "With the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894, and the celebration of the first modern Olympic Games, French Baron Pierre de Coubertin saw the fulfillment of his idealsโmen being educated in both mind and body, and competing in sport rather than war. One of his other desires was to combine both art and sport, and he thus considered including artistic competition in the Olympic Games. In May 1906, Baron de Coubertin organised a meeting in Paris for both IOC members and representatives of artists' organisations. The meeting ended with a proposal to the IOC to organise artistic competitions at the Olympic Games in five areas (architecture, literature, music, painting, and sculpture). The works of art entered had to be inspired by sports." Art and literature should be brought back. And I'd add knitting. And chariot racing. And voguing. ๐

I'm guessing you would have to be to walk along a line of riot police making gestures and stumbling into them. Would explain the beer cans that the crowd have obviously launched at them.
-
He walked along the line making gestures, appears to tread on a can and sticks his head towards the officers shield. He's clearly been drinking which probably accounts for him moving towards the officer again. These are riot police. What did he expect? A bunch of roses?
-
Also, he starts off clearly taunting the police then sticks his head into the police shield and is pushed away as a warning. He then stupidly sticks his head in again and is pushed forceably away this time. He goes down in instalments and wonders why he's been treated so harshly. ๐ This was not protesting, it's incitement of the type used by football hooligans all the time. He got what he deserved and the policeman acted with commendable restraint in my opinion. These people are fooling no one.

At your age: Do you still take life seriously?

I'm not reading all that. a) I agree with everything you've said. b) That's all a load of BS. Pick one of the above. -

What are the best ways to meet other expats?

When I first came here there seems to be some sporty expat clubs; biking and hiking etc. What happened to the football team, the Farang-Utans? ๐ -

That's why pensions are good. The flow of money stops when you cop it. -
There's a portable version. Never had any problems.

Fair enough if they have some concrete evidence which is passed on to the police. But 'something smells fishy' isn't evidence. -

Just putting my Sherlock Holmes hat on. Seems like poor Por has been found guilty already. Some evidence would be nice or maybe his side of the story. I guess that the insurance would point to a motive but would anyone be stupid enough to try that before the ink had dried on the document? How much cyanide was found in the body? Under 50mg. isn't necessarily fatal. If it was a lethal dose why didn't they call the police? If Tong wanted Por to be the beneficiary she would probably have to name a family member or someone she is in a relationship with. As Por agreed to adopt her son she obviously said that. Thai funerals do normally last three days but sometimes just one. This would be up to the family. A suspicious death isn't a crime per se. There has to be evidence of a crime for that. Channel 8 "found a conversation". Where? Seems to be based on hearsay. I'm not sure why the headline reads "Gay Thai". His sexuality is largely irrelevant. Did he poison her? Perhaps, but the law and reporting should be even-handed. -
What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?
Baht Simpson replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in General Topics
Moderate. Should be o.k. for medium loads. Not sure what my Toshiba is. I'll look in the manual tomorrow. There is an adjustable speed setting but only for the wash -

One piece of advise. If you can, check the spin cycle. Our new top loader is awful. Even after a long spin clothes come out very damp. We have a cheap old one that is much better. -
They have a hard job but at least they're prepared to put their arses on the line.

Toddler found 3km from Udon Thani home after wandering off

Now that is a miracle. Great that he was found safe. Not sure that a three-year old is still a toddler though. A toddler would never make it that far. -
Thailand will go further than legalising same-sex marriage โ PM
Baht Simpson replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Do you mean transexuals? Transvestites are men who wear women's clothing. As far as I know transvestites can already marry whoever they want. You seem heavily exercised by this issue. -
Damn. Didn't think anyone would get that. ๐
-
Yeah, compare UK or US tables. I have a Rosso factory near me. Perhaps they'll fit me for some bespoke underrods. ๐

Thai underwear is like the QE2; no ballroom.

Do some research though. Chinese 2XL is what we would call a medium.
