Guys can you elaborate a little on this as I started to take a defined benefit monthly payment in this current tax year. I don't remember reading about this as an option anywhere although it makes sense when you think about it. If the scheme doesn't allow it do you apply somehow in your tax return or..............?

With Skype out you normally pay 5p for the connection however long the call and for fixed lines a very low amount per minute as long as not a premium number. Stop worrying and call during UK working hours or you are just prolonging the agony.....

Another Traffic-Hindering Roadwork Fatigues Pattaya Residents on Third Road

From the end of the linked article - It appears to have been completed already.........Or they have cleared all the cones for the weekend. Didn't cause that many issues that I could see and since I live round the corner from it I think I would have noticed. -
DeSantis seeks $98 million to fund Florida’s own military

My immediate thought was how would this work in an emergency if both National and Florida Guard forces were deployed but had different priorities....... But then from the linked article - Anybody with knowledge on how that has worked? -
Thai Central Bank issues new measures to deal with online banking scams
topt replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The difference is I think that when a bank staff member is found doing something like that the bank will normally take responsibility and reimburse customers. In Thailand there appear to have been mixed reports on that kind of accountability. Eg. the case of bank staff in a Pattaya bank branch offering high interest rates but not actually registering the deposits.......Still not heard if that has been resolved for the depositors. -

Unfortunately Wednesday it was.......and I hadn't read this before going - I was told by guy on door to go join the queue (seats on left) and he did not mention the desk outside (which was busy when I arrived). When I got to the desk (nearly an hour later about 3.40) I was told to come back tomorrow and couldn't change their mind...... So this morning arrived there 8.40 ish. Went to desk on right, was given a number on passport and told to show to person on exit door, joined small queue and given no 14 - bypassing about 30 plus people sitting on the left where I had been yesterday. They were showing no 5 when I sat down and had to wait 45 minutes or so to be seen. So thanks to @soisanukas it meant I was able to complete the application and make my golf game The signs mentioned are attached high to the roof of the covering on the right, are blue and the Retirement one also has a a picture of a broken down figure walking with a cane, which is why I didn't pursue it yesterday..... -
Pattaya Police Ban Airhorns at Bars Citing Noise Pollution

Using a Thai SIM outside the country

No - not wrong. As I said it is the validity that's most important and you have that until Nov 13th this year irrespective of your balance and or usage. Not sure what you mean by "negative credit". According to that screenshot looks like you have a credit of 4.95. I may be wrong but I don't think you can owe money on a pre paid package.............. -

Thanks as I am planning for next week. I haven't been down since last year so I can I ask do you need an appointment now or can you just rock up as before? Also what time did you go and how busy was it as I used to go pm? Thanks -
Thanks for the correction. The question for me now is how those new rates compare to other policies. My plan went up 8% when I renewed at the end of last year. There was a covering letter explaining the increase and to be fair I would not have expected any notification more than 8 weeks before renewal. Although it doesn't immediately affect me I shall be talking to my broker so thank's for the heads up.

April Int uses age bandings for base premiums so I presume he went from 64-65 so there would have been a reasonably large jump plus the "normal" annual increase. Same as if you went from 54-55 or 60-61. @pontiousplease correct me if wrong?

From my experience with Car Insurance I would say definitely not. I doubt you would be successful with house insurance as well. I do have house insurance but would never have found it without the broker and as it is relatively cheap I never even considered to try to nickel and dime.......... However this is using a large well known broker. If you are using a small one man "agent" then all bets are off.

Using a Thai SIM outside the country
topt replied to BillStrangeOgre's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Depends on pre/post paid, type of SIM, level of credit and most importantly the validity. What I presume he meant was that 20 baht would extend its life for a further month if you had less than 12 months validity. That's generally how pre paid works - at least for AIS. However if I want to top up via SCB online banking the minimum top up is 50 baht which AFAIK will still only give you one month. -
