Deposit interest rates in Thai banks 2022
topt replied to Celsius's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Not sure where you are looking but BOT just raised the bank rate to 1% - just last week - https://www.todayonline.com/world/thai-central-bank-raises-rates-willing-adjust-tightening-necessary-2005236 So way below many other countries. There was an Asean Now news item but couldn't find it quickly -

Counter Service - 'Missing Payment'.
topt replied to The Fugitive's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Sorry but what is "Counter Service" and how does it work? -
Yes you can and from memory they charge 50 or 100 baht - cannot remember. Also cannot remember what other docs they need if any other than copies of new and possibly old passport details.

Your right. never noticed before that they now have a drop down to open a new @hotmail instead of @outlook account. Importantly however it doesn't change the Op's issue. Thanks for pointing it out.,

It's an email address - no different to a gmail/aol/yahoo uncle tom cobbley and all address How you access it is another story.

Outlook web mail is what Hotmail turned into. If you try and set up a new address you are not able to have hotmail address it will be outlook.com.. To all intents and purposes they are one and the same. Office Outlook is also a stand alone part of the Office Suite (excel/word etc) or Office 365 but don't confuse it with the separate web mail which you are presumably using. Although to confuse you more you can access your hotmail/outlook accounts using office Outlook......

30 days. As long as OP has not ticked the box in Settings to empty the deleted items folder when Outlook (Hotmail) closes.

Completely dependant on sizes of windows and whether you have single pane or double glazed with Argon gas, screens etc. Over the last 11 years I have had dealings with 3 UPVC companies. Most recent was best experience with ARC-CMR last year. I would however imagine prices have definitely risen. For reference - 600x685mm outward opening window with rolling insect screen (pull down from top), G.Laminated Clear 3mm+0.38 pvb.Frosted+3mm Clear / 10mm air gap / 5mm Clear glazed - about 8000 baht Sliding door (I had one side fixed) - 2601x2202mm, sliding insect screen but a clip on track (cheaper), multi point locking IG.Green 6mm / 10mm air gap / 5mm Clear - about 40,000 baht The about prices are because of fitting and extra material costs which were applied to the total. Very happy with the result. I did get prices at the time for single glazed as well which would have been cheaper. From memory Deku were a little cheaper but having used them in the past Arc appeared easier to work with and more professional.

How does the Baht stay so strong ??
topt replied to fulhamster's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Against the USD it has moved quite a bit. Recent articles saying the $/baht is the strongest since 2006 or similar. XE this morning suggests mid rate of 37.25 whereas earlier this year it was around 32........ -
Does it make sense to check different car dealers?
topt replied to plus7's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
It certainly used to be. Certainly when I bought BKK Mitsubishi dealers were much more inclined to "deal" then the local Pattaya dealer and all communication was initially done online in Thai - however I stress this was some years ago. However Toyota always seemed to be more limited in terms of what they were prepared to offer -
Pattaya deputy mayor inspects often-ignored wheelchair lane
topt replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Shame they didn't check the part further up towards but before Big C and before the entrance to the Father Ray centre. There is a fairly new small Chang distribution warehouse on that side of the road and at lunchtime yesterday a fully loaded flatbed lorry was parked up outside it completely blocking not just the wheelchair lane but half the road. That particular stretch regularly has cars parked on it. -
Nowhere near that good but SCB do have a Jad Tem account which pays 1% depending on the amount you have in it. Should be no issues for foreigners to open. Also it is not a fixed account so the rate can change - hopefully up if/when BOT increase their rate........ @giddyup L&H bank have I believe some better fixed rates and helps spread your deposits over more banks. Unfortunately their web site is not very user friendly - as in I could not find the rates...... Their is a branch in Terminal 21 in Pattaya.

Thanks as I remember reading posts from several people who tried this and failed but there are obviously those who do succeed as well. It would be useful to get some confirmation of this although short of a quote from a judge I am not sure how you corroborate it..... Obviously I doubt it would have negative consequences apart from perhaps making it more difficult to change if required. Perhaps @bert bloggs could ask his wife to ask her "besty" and see what a lawyer's view is?

The one with the latest date on it perhaps as long as witnessed correctly.

Please explain why? There have been many posts over the years talking about this and although a few seem to manage it I have never heard of a major benefit of doing so.

Pattaya Police Station Head Transferred After Kyrgyz Woman’s Death
topt replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Can you tell us which bars or point me to the article which I must have missed? Curious how you would know for sure that they all "had all the correct papers and licences" -
It is but I meant Office 2007...... As mentioned I am on Win 10 on my current laptop which is more than capable of being moved onto 11 if I wanted to. No. Android. Correct and that is what I have. Or you could by an /e/os phone........
-
Still using 2007.......... Win 10, local sign in and One Drive is obliterated as much as I can. I tried Linux and will probably go back to it rather than move to 11.

What exactly, in that suite, can you not find an alternative for?

5-year driver's license with just a tourist visa?
topt replied to rahil627's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's just confusing to the OP! ???? It used to be the first licence was only 1 year but that was changed 6/7 years ago or possibly longer than that, to 2 years for everybody. Not sure on the 10 year but guess quite a long time ago. On renewal, as others have said, with the right visa/extension, and for Thai's, you officially get 5 years. However for subsequent renewals if you go just after the renewal date (which is normally your birthday), you can get nearly 6 years.
