  1. It might be peaking right now. Could be well into the decline by April
  2. Their surge in Thailand is probably close to the peak right now. If one actually believes their data, their case and death rate is about 8x lower than the UK at their peak. Makes it look like they don't have a COVID problem at all
  3. The CDC did a seroprevalence survey for the period Feb 2020 -Sept 2021 and estimated that cases were undercounted by a factor of 4. The US was doing a lot more testing than Thailand during that time and it was months before the more transmissible Omicron. My guess is that Thailand easily has over 100K cases a day now.
  4. Wasn't exactly cut down in his prime was he....? A tip of the hat though for making it to 96 ????
  5. Hard to believe that somebody testing positive on a self administered test wouldn't immediately turn themselves into the authorities for their own immediate incarceration?
  6. I will continue for now to hold out some hope that the decisionmakers there will have an epiphany and drop all arrival tests in time for a mid summer trip to visit wife's family. If not, we will look to 2023
  7. Maybe the current administration wants Thailand to be a hermit kingdom so they have to do as necessary to discourage travel there. So far, it appears to be working
  8. In the US, it went from 100k to 800k a day in 6 weeks and then back down to 100k in 4 weeks. Took off like a rocket, peaked quick and fell quicker. Between Omicron and the other variants, over half the population has probably had COVID at least once
  9. Sometimes the best comedians are the ones who don't realize they are making a joke
  10. And if they want a shot at a reasonably successful high season this year, they need to get rid of them now and start to rebuild trust and confidence that a holiday to Thailand is not unnecessarily risky.
  11. Thailand likely has millions of cases of Omicron active right now. It will dissipate at it's own pace. In the meantime, drop both arrival tests and the insurance scam now and maybe by the end of the year, the world will start to feel more confident about taking a holiday in Thailand
  12. I doubt there's a single Thai University in the top 500 globally
  13. ...And if the falang doesn't get infected in that 5 days of mingling, there's ways around that too!
  14. Maybe they will eventually settle on the right thing....after they try everything else first
  15. "The compliance would effectively contain the disease everywhere......" Not testing seems to be the most effective way to "contain" the virus
  16. No need to close the borders when the disincentives are already in place to deter tourist travel into the Kingdom
  17. Skip the testing on arrival altogether. There's nothing a fully vaxed and tested prior to departure visitor will bring into the country that isn't already there in numbers far greater than the government has been quoting
  18. Drop the tests on arrival if you want tourists to come
