  1. NerdWallet used to give a list... I haven't checked that website lately. Some smaller credit unions used to forego those fees as well. Too many of those to check so I doubt if NerdWallet does. Schwab remains the best option due to their refund of the ATM fees as well.
  2. You do realize that when you look in the mirror, left and right are reversed.... right?
  3. A Thai bank may be more inclined to open an account for you if you are able to show them that you will be depositing the funds required for your first 12 month extension. The requirement is 800K ฿ for retirement or 400K ฿ for marriage extensions. I agree with @OJAS's post above.... get a Non-Imm "O" visa before departure for Thailand. I'm unsure how helpful the visa will be but at least you can make it look like you're moving to Thailand and need the bank account to satisfy Thai Immigration's requirements. Without a Thai bank account you can either enter Thailand carrying the funds or you can use your home country debit card to get a cash advance at a bank teller. In advance of your visit to Thailand your should ensure that the funds are easily accessible and acquire a suitable debit card if needed. A 'good' debit card will not add any foreign transaction fees when getting a cash advance. In America CapitalOne and Schwab provide 'good' debit cards. Currently AFAIK, only Krungsri bank still allow cash advances on foreign debit cards but charge 200฿ for VISA and no charge on MasterCard. Krungsri allow up to 150K ฿/transaction but I have down two on the same visit to the bank when I was preparing my 800K ฿ balance. I don't use Western Union, but perhaps they also will allow you to send funds to yourself in Thailand without having a Thai bank account. I have seen reports on AN that their fees are now competitive. Good luck!
  4. Complete fiction. You mistake the rollicking laughter that arises from your medical nonsense as censorship. Get some real peer reviewed and repeatable research and bring it forward. With no experience or background to shore up your thinking, you've become ensnared by the idjets.
  5. You greatly exaggerated the restrictions on the mobility of the unvaccinated. Very few countries had a ban on the non-vaccinated. Many of the countries that did ban the unvaccinated also banned vaccinated foreigners. I don't recall hearing about any stores insisting on vaccination before entry here or in North America. Masking was often required but vaccination was NOT. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travel_during_the_COVID-19_pandemic
  6. Disagree...... chaotic stupidity does not lend itself to cooperation and planning which enable the evil, greedy or sociopathic types to combine their efforts and strengths to accomplish together what they could not as individuals. Sadly, team work by those with evil motivations is very effective.
  7. I don't think there have been any peer reviewed studies to determine what the emojis really mean. In this day and age... they mean whatever you think they mean but you must provide an approved link.
  8. Try to call the bank customer help center yourself. I've found that generally they will have staff with adequate to good English skills.
  9. You're at best a Cyclops in the land of blindly made up medical misinformation. You only have an eye that sees the nonsense that other fools shout out as facts.
  10. The only thing clear is that quacks are in positions of power not because of what they know but because they convinced people even more dumb/desperate/biased than themselves to vote for or appoint them.
  11. I believe you're just starved for attention. Grasping at nutty non-science based opinions makes you stand out. Like most narcissists you probably believe that no attention is worse than attention for idiotic notions. Every forum needs a nutter to make us all shake our heads daily and be thankful that they are a tiny minority.
  12. Can I sign up my sister? She's suffered a rather debilitating stroke and would probably fit right in. She needs to have more friends more equally incapacitated. Her current co-residents keep scamming her out of her desserts.
  13. Update: Dropped off the payment receipt and my old passport on Sep. 9, 2025. Sep. 25 they called and said I can pick up the new and old one! I don't need an appointment for the pickup. Just need to show up before 2PM. I hope they didn't previously tell me 4-6 weeks just to increase my satisfaction when delivered much sooner! LOL
  14. LOL.... it was more beneficial to me..... the facts are not on your side! Don't assume you're the only one with a functioning brain. Because of the formerly tight relationship between Canada and US they have a Totalization agreement regarding social security benefits... so both governments will have full details of my earnings when it's time to retire. It would be stupid to claim anything not true. My employer transferred me from Canada to the USA... I didn't have much wiggle room about declaring where I live. After relocation, I had deductions made from US salary towards Can social security. The Can. government then knew that I'm was employed by the US subsidiary of my original employer. They also knew I no longer need to file Can. taxes. My employer had a lot of IT contracts with the both the US and Can. governments and of course would not risk jeopardizing either of those relationships by using dodgy paperwork.
  15. The shooter -- who appeared "to be a sniper from an elevated position" firing from "a couple hundred yards" away -- died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, ICE Director Todd Lyons told ABC News.
  16. AI describes the why: Non-U.S. residents are restricted from owning U.S.-based mutual funds primarily due to complex regulatory and legal burdens for the fund companies, not because of a U.S. government ban on foreign investment. Major U.S. fund companies, such as Fidelity and Vanguard, have created internal policies that block non-residents from purchasing funds to manage compliance risks related to foreign laws and U.S. tax and securities regulations. Foreign securities regulations Compliance challenges: Many countries have their own securities and investment laws designed to protect local consumers. A U.S. mutual fund would have to register and comply with the regulations of every foreign country where its investors live. For a major fund that serves customers in dozens of countries, this would be a complex and expensive undertaking. European Union (EU) rules: The EU's Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) requires specific disclosures, including a "Key Information Document" (KID), for retail investment vehicles like ETFs. U.S. securities laws often prohibit the kind of performance forecasts required for a KID, creating a "catch-22" that makes it nearly impossible for U.S. funds to comply with European regulations.
  17. Revenge Republic . . . Republic of Revenge Gulf of Grievance PS. Gulf of Retribution ... I like the cadence of this one.
  18. I had to go with Magastan... because... even after we choose a non-orange leader... we'll still be dealing with his cult members.
  19. A phrase centuries older than any of us is appropriate here.... the proof is in the pudding.
  20. A lot of posts that lay bare the mentally incestuous feedback loops amongst the science deniers on AN.
  21. Well... I'd have to say your powers of observation are improving. Maybe some day you'll get to the point where you can look back and recognize how silly and unhelpful you've been.
  22. You're very alone in thinking that I would even waste one second on a reply. Sayonara is the last word.
  23. My answer was a reply to @gargamon who stated that he was not subject to withholding from his OAS. He did not state where he was living so I provided the details that I do know.... how it works for Canadians living in US. Canada has Totalization agreements with about 50 countries. Gargamon probably lives in one of them. It seems you have lived outside Canada for 20+ years... Canada may have used your years in the USA to help you meet the requirements that you live in Canada (US counts also, but Thailand does not) for 20 years after age 18... if you wish to collect OAS while living outside Canada. I did not live in Canada long enough to qualify but my years (30+) in US put me over the line.
  24. each post is making you sound more and more like a bot... LOL there's a special place for bots on AN
