Credit card fees
gamb00ler replied to CallumWK's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Have you ever incurred charges outside of Thailand? Those are the fees being discussed in this thread. US credit/debit cards call those fees "foreign transaction fee". Some US cards don't have those fees and some financial institutions charge high fees. Everyone should know that your issuing bank/credit union/etc. doesn't participate in the foreign exchange. VISA and MasterCard do the foreign exchange portion. -
You can always create a brand new Google account. I have about a dozen that I use for the free 15GB online storage. Setting up GV is probably easiest if using a desktop/laptop. Instead of installing the GV app, you can do everything on the GV web page (voice.google.com). You may have difficulty installing the GV app if you're in Thailand because it's not in the Thailand app store. You may be able to install GV using the apk file independently from the Google store. My friend is a little nervous about that aspect of installing GV. I used only GV for the first couple of years after moving to Thailand. Eventually I encountered a US institution that would not accept a GV number for some functions. I then set up an UltraMobile PayGo number by buying a UM sim on eBay and having a US based friend swap in that sim so that the US mobile network can verify and accept the sim. He mailed me the sim and I've been using it in an iPhone after I moved my local Thai service to an e-sim. The UM sim costs about $15 and then each month about $3.15 which gets you 100 free minutes and 100 free SMS. You must use the UM services on WiFi. After getting the UM number set up you could use it to set up a new GV account. I don't get any SPAM calls on my UM number but do get some SPAM texts.

Ideally I would like a tank gauge that can report tank water level to a home automation system. I see some expensive options in NZ and USA. I need something very simple that just can report the level periodically or when queried by the monitoring system. WiFi comms. would be my 1st choice but other options are also reasonable. If a remote monitoring option is too expensive or too troublesome, I'll just have to settle for a visual indicator of some sort. Anyone have experience or recommendations?

I think that you're on the right track. I would opine that the depth of field available in most photographs does not compare to the depth of field that the eye can perceive in the mirror. The information available to the brain from most photographs does not yield a natural look, but the image in the mirror does.

Let's see.... the measles vaccine is 97% effective after the standard two doses. She was unvaccinated and died from complications associated with her measles infection. What conclusion is to be drawn? If all other factors remained the same there would only be a 3% chance of her being infected. Even when a vaccinated person catches measles, the risk of serious complications is reduced significantly. But if you like sailing in stormy weather.... have at it.

since you don't really read any non-fiction, you wouldn't know why Japan had economic problems, would you? A very low birthrate, No supply of young motivated workers due to immigration. Low labor force participation rate.

It's possible Trump is not an idiot..... but he convincingly plays one on TV. Definitely an Emmy possibility.

The right leaning mindset on full display. You love to use a single parameter to explain complicated matters. Otherwise, it's just too complex for you.

The Bizarre Source of POTUS' Tariff Obsession

They're just joining the woke.... better late than never. -
And the US $ (DXY) has dropped from 110 around inauguration to 102.5 today.... more Trump inspired winning! DXY had climbed from election day, but the actual reality of Trump quickly became a yuuuge disappointment. Nobody has ever seen anything like it.

Trump Doesn't Understand How Stock Market Works
gamb00ler replied to SiSePuede419's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
typical right wing insistence that somehow a single fact captures the entire context of a situation.... Grade school analysis at best. -
LOL - he was correct.... he did not lie. Trump did not design the tariffs according to the amount of tariffs the target country is/was charging on US goods. You need to practice your reading comprehension. Instead the Trump tariffs are determined by the $ volume of trade imbalances. Moronic beyond measure.
