MyMo is the Mobile phone app for GSB (Government Savings Bank). I also use the MyMo phone banking app since a few years without problems. I have savings and deposit accounts there. -
Khon Kaen buffet fines diner 9000 baht for uneaten food
HampiK replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Many use the wording BBQ buffet for an all you can eat buffet! Actually after you wrote I agree with your comment, but in Thailand it's not always used that way. -

HampiK replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
OK, I see what you mean and understand. I would never go eat buffet for X-mas, birthday, Valentines or any other special day. And I think we have to make a difference between a BBQ/Shabu buffet or a bruch/lunch/dinner buffet. or at least between a buffet where you go take your food yourself and the ones the food you order is brought to you. I mostly not go to buffets where you have to take the food yourself, because too many people not know how to behave. -

Seems you never saw a good buffet! -
Even when you had arround 400'000 Baht interest, which would be about 60'000 tax deduction, it's still worth to claim it back! With an income of 400'000 Baht from Interest the income tax would be about 4'500 baht. which would lead to still gain more than 55'000 Baht! Sorry, I read it wrong first, I was thinking you answer was to me 🙂 Of course I always would fill a tax form, as it's mostly better with income from interest.

I think if we talk about unpaid bills by foreigner, then this are mostly tourists which not had an insurance or travel insurance when they come to thailand. And then drive a motorbike for example. you can read a story (gofundme) almost every week.

How Time Deposit work in Thailand ?
HampiK replied to zenplay's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
If before 3 months, then 0 Interest if more than 3 months, you will become the interest rate of the saving account. At least this is the rule which many banks use... For example, with KTB you even can find this information on their website. -
I like buying a condo (as I can do what I want with if change or renovate). But some of the posters are correct that the best is to rent first, because you have to know where you want stay, you have to check if the condo you like is really good (neighbors and so on). But after you rent let's say 1 year and you happy with the location and you have the option to buy, then I why not to buy. But don't forget, normally the price for buy is about 200 times the monthly rent. So, you could say 20 years rent and you have a free condo. But mostly it's forgotten that there is also common fees to pay and sometimes some repairs or some items have to be replaced. And then the aspect of the money you not used to buy you could invest and become some money back. At the end I guess it's an choice of the person what he would like more!

Pacific Cross Health Insurance - Claims experience ?
HampiK replied to Pumpuynarak's topic in Insurance in Thailand
Yes, Cigna is not allowed to insure Thai people, only if they have a second citizenship. I use Cigna for myself and my wife. -
Very surprising how many users always talked about they will leave soon. Or they will leave if certain condition change. At the end I am not sure how many of these posters then really leave or as I guess are more of a statement without anything behind! P.S. this not specific to the OP of this thread.

75 year old Thai woman loses over 18 million baht to romance scam
HampiK replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Rich and poor, they mostly not mix up. If you ask an rich person, how many poor he knows, then he probably answers none. All of his friends are rich or at least well of. Same as when you ask a poor, he will answer, that he only knows poor people. And what is even more scared, that they then think the others really not exists. They really think all are same them! The same we found many times in posts (even here). People from a specific society or living style will have difficulties to understand people from another society! -
What is the problem with the 90 day online?
HampiK replied to kingstonkid's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes, unfortunately this is normal. I also would like to count from the approval date. Especially now when it takes more than 10 days at CW. -
What is the problem with the 90 day online?
HampiK replied to kingstonkid's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm now waiting 8 days and still pending (CW). As it seems that it's not a problem in the system... more a problem of CW. In the past it took between 2 hours and 2 days... this time somehow it takes much longer. -
How to "pay by scan" upcountry - as a tourist ?
HampiK replied to henrik2000's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Even in Bangkok there are some shops which do not want cash anymore. I already asked myself what if a tourist not have a credit card with him at the moment (left at the hotel). I encountered 2-3 shops in Bangkok, which would only accept credit card or scan (Promptpay). I am enjoying the option of scan. As it's really faster than pay by cash. I do not have to think about how much money I should become back (not checking). I see many persons who try to count the coins till they have the correct amount. Especially on small shops while the seller prepare your order (drink, food or wrap the things), I can scan the QR code, type in the amount and when I receive the item, I only click on OK. Not need to wait for the seller to give me the return money. Bigger shops sometimes even have the QR which includes the amount. Then only scan and press OK (if you already log-in to your banking app). -
They put the customers inside the store in the back.. and closed the store. So the shooter could not go inside. I think this actually much safer than let run out all people. Especially if your store not near an exit. Because you don't know where the shooter is. If you tell all people to run to exit.. the chance that some persons will cross the way with the shooter is greater than when they stay inside the store. WHich the shooter can't enter!
-
The problem, even if the scanner show something is there. nobody stop you and look.. The scanners are there but nobody really looks on it. It's even simple to walk around the scanners. And this works in every mall. If you want bring anything inside a mall.. this is a very easy task. But what I do not understand is the complain about how long it took. They need long to clear up the whole shopping center after they cached the shooter. But I think before you can go inside shopping mall and release all the customers and staff waiting inside the stores. you have to make sure there is no danger anymore. What I saw and heard the security this time have done in general a great job... closed the store, and told all the customer and staff to go inside store in the back-part. This is a much better thing, than let run out all customers so they can run directly into the shooter.

The difference is, that for initial opening you need to go to the bank for open a "book bank". Second is, that on an online account (without book bank) mostly you will have a little bit better interest rate as well. And with an online account (without book bank) you can't go into the bank and withdrawal money from that account, you have to transfer this money first to an account with "book bank" and then you are able to withdrawal money! So yes there is a small difference in this 2 kind. Even when most will feel almost nothing at all.
-
But I guess all of your account still have a real bankbook behind. Meaning every account you see in your K-Bank app you also have a bank book with this account number at home (in your locked away area). But when I try to click on the "Open e-Savings" button then soon it shows for Thais only (I guess you need this blue ID card to be able to do most of this).

You should check with your KTB Branch again. I have a KTB Bank account and a deposit account which give good interest. The deposit 2% and the saving account only a few baht, as I not have that much money in the saving account. But with digital accounts mostly the problem is that we not have an offizial ID card with CHIP and laserID on the back.
