  1. I have Cigna Global now for 5 years. And yes, they are not cheap, but I feel better with them than with a Thai Insurance, who can raise the premiums or kick you out after a big claim. In my opinion Cigna or April (international, not the Thai based version) are the ones to look at, if you have the spare money to spend.
  2. The word real apartment always depends on the person who looks for. Some people think a 100m2 apartment is a shoe box and there are people who think 30m2 apartment are already a perfect size. Every person has different desire. They only use the room for sleeping or they also want life in it?
  3. At some points it can help, if you can speak Thai to become the reduced price. But also, many places they mostly look on your skin color or if you can show them a blue Thai ID card. So, Asians often can go for the Thai price. Actually, I don't mind paying little bit more than Thais. on some parks I would not mind paying 80 baht instead of 40. But 10x or even more is not OK anymore. But as some posters already wrote, you can decide to not go.
  4. This is unfortunately everywhere the same in Thailand. But if more of these clips go viral, this maybe help to reduce such misbehaviors. As I do not think police will do a lot for this... so public shame is still one of the biggest advantages to reduce such behavior.
  5. Look it from the other side. Why working more, when you have enough money? There are always people who think they need more and more money (strange, mostly the very rich). I know of persons, who complain, how hard their life is, and how much they would love to enjoy life. Some of them would have more than enough money to stop work or at least work less. But many people can't. They don't know what to do with their time. I many times hear from older person, when I am 65, then I will start enjoying life. But mostly (of course not always) people who never enjoyed life, can't start with 65 to change. Unfortunately, I know of 2 persons, who died shortly after retirement. As from my perspective it's much better to start enjoying life as early as possible (but of course not too early, so you have enough money to enjoy). I read a few very interesting stories from people who retired early. And I think it's the best. Of course, if you can retire with 45... then you have 20 extra enjoyable years till official retirement. This is something which nobody can take away anymore. Even when retire with 55... these extra years to enjoy I think is unpayable. But sadly, for this lifestyle you need saved money, which many do not have.
  6. you not mean the normal 90 day register. You have to go for a follow-up 90 day check because of your ED visa? I hope you will receive some good information from people who know your immigration and about this exact procedure.
  7. LH Bank can do the facial recognition for foreigners. GSB and KTB are not able to do it by now (KTB maybe in August).
  8. I think he have seen the condo in April (as this was the time he was searching). But he had to go back while have to buy, pay and so on.
  9. The EXAT app, is for checking your balance on EasyPass. You actually not need the app at all. You need the EasyPass sender and you need the card with your number, to refill EasyPass. This can be done with almost every online banking system. I only use the EXAT app, when I have to check if I still have enough money on EasyPass.
  10. I not have a printout bill since more than a year. I become a SMS with a PDF bill. Additional I receive an SMS with the information the bill is ready and a link. I have setup this in the MEA app with the advantage of auto bill payment.
  11. He have to become PM first. It's still a long way for him. And as long he's not have the 376 seats in his favor nothing is clear yet.
  12. It's about you have to go to Immigration 2 times instead of only 1 time. And you always have to bring your wife the first time as well. With retirement you only need 1 visit and wife not need to attend (except first time while changing). Of course if your Immigration office is near your house, then it's not a big issue. But if you have a long way or as in Bangkok a lot of traffic, which can easily be 4-5 hours trip per visit, then it could be a pain for some people.
  13. Normally every floor has a garbage room where the things could be thrown away. Really easy process!
  14. they want passport from first page till actual pages which are used including signing them. Strange, I never had to provide such information, but different offices have different rules.
  15. หน้าหลัก | กรมสรรพากร : ยื่นแบบผ่านอินเทอร์เน็ต (rd.go.th) On this website you can check your status (Second last button on the top). Normaly at least here in Bangkok at my place the refund is done in about 5-6 days if all documents are in order and you not need to add additional documents. But my refund is transferred directly to my bank account (KTB)
  16. Sad to hear about this. RIP
  17. I know 2 older woman, they life in a hotel since many years. And they don't want change to a condo or a house! And especially in the beginning I think makes even more sense, as to check out where you probably want to settle down for a longer period. As someone else already mentioned. If you book a hotel for longer period more than 1 month, they can give you really good deals. @RB7829Maybe you need to fill out a special form, which the hotels states that you will stay there long term...
  18. Sorry, I was assuming BKK when I read the Shangri-La... sorry. But sometimes It would help to tell the location in the text itself. As I was not checking the forum path...
  19. There are many very good buffets available in Bangkok. But it depends you want seafood or international, and of course also the price range. Goji at the Marriott Marguis they have a really huge selection of many different styles of food, but it's also more expensive. At the end it depends on the price and what dishes you see as a must have...
  20. At check-in she has to show her British passport to prove she is allowed to enter the UK (and the passport she used to book the flight with). At Immigration, she has to show her Thai passport or use the electric gate (for Thais). Same when flying back from UK to Thailand. She has to show her Thai passport and the Passport which used to book the flight. There is never a problem as long she always use the correct passport for the correct place.
  21. the 6 moths is not valid if you fly direct home to your passport country!
  22. Don't forget last week Thursday was an holiday as well (Friday after, many took extra day off). As someone else already stated, this time many already on long holiday... so everything could be slower than normal.
  23. Even if they check the CCTV, you only will see the naive Thai person on the CCTV who opened the bank account for the scammer. The scammer would probably never been seen on the footage. And even you could see his face, he is probably already outside Thailand again. He only needs a few naive Thais to open Bank accounts for him and that's all. After that when he receives the money, he will transfer the money to his personal account or other places to hide where the money is going at the end.
  24. You can get an extension right away?.. this is not only possible 10 or 14 days before actual permit run out?
