    Long ago it was possible to continue the Thai social security payments and continue to get medical coverage after stopping work. Not expensive and a great backup if still available.

    So why don't you just do what they asked you to? That will almost certainly be easier than disagreeing with the IO about what should be done. If you really did cancel it you should have a letter so stating and a stamp in your PP showing it was cancelled. Do you have those things?
