you do realise that there's no such thing as official bank paper don't you. Banks use the same quality paper for printing as we use, viz 800gsm. There's no bank watermarks on what they use, so as long as you print it in colour there's no way for Immigration to know who actually printed it, and yes it does print with the banks logo etc.. You just get the branch manager to stamp & sign it.

Immigration will accept bank statements you print yourself from online banking as long as they are printed in colour. If you print them in colour there's no way for Immigration to know who printed them, you or the bank. I've been printing my own statements, in colour, since it became necessary to provide them. However, I do get my bank to stamp the most recent statement (viz the one printed on the morning I go to the bank for my bank guarantee letter) and I've never had them rejected. Occasionally an IO will ask if they are originals and I just tell him/her "yes", which they are. Perhaps CM Immigration is a bit more progressive on this than other Immigration Offices.

Just in case you missed my 2nd post I'm going to repost verbatim the reply I received from Bank of Thailand. "Facial Recognition is a requirement in Thailand for ALL retail customers, INCLUDING FOREIGNERS, when transferring more than 50k baht per transaction or 200k baht per day via Mobile banking. Foreigners who haven't updated their facial photos must update the photo at bank branches with their passport" It was Bank of Thailand that implemented this facial recognition security process, it's the individual banks and branches that are stuffing it up with their poor interpretation of the requirement. Please note that the facial recognition ONLY applies to mobile phone banking apps, e.g. ttbtouch etc, NOT online banking. However, where ttb is concerned they have removed from their online banking the capability of scheduling any payments. Also why would you go to ttb to get your 12 month statements for Immigration when if you also use their online banking you can print them yourself from there.

It's supposed to only be for transactions of 50k or more, but seeing as how wrong the banks have got this from the get go, who knows how each bank will make it apply.

I've been told by my bank, ttb, that foreigners not included. However, after reading in AN of how many foreigners/farangs have had their photos taken and the differing opinions by bank employees of the same bank but different branches, I emailed Bank of Thailand seeking clarification as to whether we have to or not. I received written confirmation yesterday from BOT that foreigners ARE included. I then requested BOT to communicate clearly to all banks that foreigners ARE included so as to remove the mass confusion across the banks and their branches. I will be going to my bank again next week and if they still tell me foreigners are not included I will show the branch manager, who speaks perfect english, the email from BOT so she can instruct her staff that foreigners are included. With regards to the transfers already done, I'm not surprised you had no issues, as this does not officially come into effect until Saturday July 1st, even though some banks are already applying it.

he parked on the wrong side and facing the wrong direction. In other words his vehicle was facing against the flow of traffic ( see the picture in OP), which believe it or not is illegal, even here in Thailand. The thing that surprises me with this is that Officer Wichian actually knew the law in relation to this incident.

and you didn't read my comment. The reason your wife has received that message is because her daily limit is set at less than 50k. My wife just transferred 100k to my health fund (from her Kasikorn account) and she did NOT receive any message regarding facial recognition, and she has had her Thai ID card scanned and photo taken at the bank. Her daily limit is set at 150k whereas the default daily limit for most bank accounts appears to be 20k.

Interesting because Kasikorn (1 of my 3 banks) have told me this does NOT apply to foreigners AND the only reason you would be getting this message at the moment is because your daily limit is set at lower than 50k. They have also confirmed this does NOT take effect until July 1.

There is NOTHING in the police rules that states you need a 1 year lease to do an extension, BUT you do have to provide proof of address at mant IO's, and to the best of my knowledge there is no appeals process.

Oz haven't stopped completely. If you go to the Aussie Embassy or consulate and leave your expiring passport with them, your new passport has a stamp in it to meet immigration requirements. If you renew your aussie passport by mail, and keep your current passport in your possession, then they DO issue the letter for immigration as the new passport is sent in the post and not collected. This is the written information both the Aussie Embassy and consulate in CM have provided me with as I'm due to renew mine later this year.

Not false claims mate. My 3 banks tried that and it couldn't be done. All 3 banks are adamant that foreigners are NOT included, and for the record they are ttb, Krungsi and Kasikorn.

aussies haven't commonly called Chinese "chings" since the 60's-70's. For you to still be using that terminology indicates that you are somewhat of a racist. I wouldn't be surprised if you lumped all arabs into the same basket and called them "lebs". For the record it IS derogatory to use terminology like that.

Krungsi have got it wrong. It's not possible to take a foreigners photo and then link it to a passport and bank account. The process involves scanning a Thai ID card, taking a photo and linking the ID data and photo to a bank account. Not possible with a passport. Also our local Krungsi branch is adamant that foreigners are NOT included as they do NOT have Thai ID cards

I don't believe that your 50k transaction was blocked as this new system is NOT in effect yet.

Only when you've re-entered Thailand after being out of the country. Some on here will say you don't need to, but I've had friends get in strife with Immigration for not doing so.

Yes I have seen that, but after witnessing how the process was done with my wife and being told that foreigners were not included, I don't believe any of those posts. As I said the process involves first scanning a person's Thai ID card and THEN taking the photo. The ID card scanner is attached to the tablet used to take the photo and the data on the ID card is linked to the pic that is taken and then linked to a person's bank account number. I have accounts at 3 different banks and have been told at all 3 that foreigners are NOT included and the process was exactly the same, scan the ID card first and then take the photo. So the only way a foreigner can be included is to have a Thai ID card, and I don't mean a pink ID card. They can't be scanned as there is no data chip in them.
