  1. It looks like there are elements at work to turn this into another right-wing crazytown conspiracy https://www.motherjones.com/mojo-wire/2023/02/fox-news-weaponizes-the-east-palestine-train-derailment-for-the-white-grievance-crowd/ As if these things aren't bad enough, these morons have to make it worse for all involved, just so they can make $$$ selling ads.
  2. If their prerogative is to avoid Russia they may just find another country, preferably one with a better visa deal and not buddies with Vlad.
  3. VICE keeps an eye on Flynn, they even covered his tent revivals (well, tried to). I don't know if he will run himself or be someone's guided-by-Jesus pitbull. Does anyone know what the deadline is to sign up for GOP primaries? Couldn't get a proper answer when I searched.
  4. This officer on the left has his own unique style of pointing, bravo! He likes this message so much he's pointing at it.
  5. Someone I know who is a MA fan told me her hubby was reluctant to buy a big screen TV, she convinced him by explaining that SS was now too fat to fit on a regular screen.
  6. "How dare you call my girlfriend a prostitute?! She's a farm girl from East Ham!" What was that, honey? "Oh, I mean Issan."
  7. Easy enough to get rid of them: shut the place down, drive them to the airport, blacklist them with immigration. Anything worth anything is sequestered, especially bank accounts.
  8. Considering that there is a day in Mardi Gras/Carnivale week when the men dress as women (well, in Brazil at least) it's not a far stretch. Ask conservative politician George Anthony Devolder Santos to explain it to you. Like, you don't have to be Irish to be in the St Paddy's Day parade. Who doesn't want to join a party on a day that celebrates public drunkedness?
  9. It changed on the weekend of August 12, 2017, a celebration that included a torchlight night rally and some good ol' boy intentionally running his car into demonstrators, killing one. Elvis Costello? This one was written in 1977 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWZ32XIsZIU As for Dilbert guy, ever seen him interviewed? Smug, condescending little sheet. In his superior knowledge he knew doing this would kick up a fuss, no surprises.
  10. What I'd like to see is Fox (and Fox Biz) ordered by the FCC to run a chyron to the effective of "WARNING: the information in this program may not be true!" And today brings this: https://www.rawstory.com/fox-news-dominion-ban/ The word is recusal, Howard. I have no doubt you would be using the word frequently if another news entity was in a similar position.
  11. I came across this https://www.insider.com/6-myths-surrounding-the-kyle-rittenhouse-trial-debunked-2021-11 (for this post I'll take the claims of this article as true and complete -- this provision will expire when I hit "Submit Reply") With a good attorney team there is a lot of potential for civil cases with this incident. For example: Rittenhouse testified that he and Black went downtown because they were invited to guard the Car Source, a Kenosha car dealership, during the unrest and were under the impression they were going to be paid. The Khindri brothers who own the dealership denied this under oath, but multiple other witnesses testified against them, backing Rittenhouse's version. [cue up Bette Midler singing "oh ya gotta have friends"] Too many "huh?" factors in this. All this stuff about possession and ownership of the gun is a can of worms in itself. After the trial, the kid asked for his gun back, the reply was a quick and unmitigated NO. This is a far cry from giving the innocent kid a pat on the head, handing him back his weapon and "off you go, lad." I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a retrial, I think the potential civil cases could pile up so that every cent he makes in his life is going to be monitored and payment extracted. He's already dodging the subpoena for civil case #1. Maybe he should attend college in Hungary, or Russia. I'm sure DT would be happy to provide a letter of recommendation.
  12. Yea I imagined you would, how does that not surprise me Gotta wonder who told him that.
  13. Did he really make billions selling pillows? Were these pillows made in South America and then imported to the US? Anyone check what they were stuffed with?
  14. Keep an eye on this kid, he's going to kill again. And why not? He knows how to get away with it, all he has to do is cry. The trial stank, if there was any corruption it was in his favor. And he now has friends, visits them in places like Mar-A-Lago, and is lauded as a hero at conservative gatherings. Go to any shopping mall in the US, you'll see kids manipulating their parents just like KR played the courtroom. I saw a nephew do it lots of times when he was younger. Once he was telling me he didn't get the position he wanted on a school team and was disappointed. I asked him if he tried crying, and he blushed as red a beet. Actually a pretty dumb move by Jr. When Dinesh d'Souza said he knew Obama was sneaking around outside his house the conservative interviewer knew better than to ask him to elaborate.
  15. In the movie "Tar" (with Cate Blanchett) there is a scene with a music student who is a little too involved with his sexual identity. The professor is trying to impress upon him that he would do well by listening to, and learning from, Brahms. He responds with "I'm not into cis composers." Professor (who is a lesbian) thinks this is an incredibly ridiculous perspective. Imagine, in a real-life similar setting, if someone said "I don't listen to Tchaikovsky because I don't like gay composers."
  16. I am a registered US Merchant Marine but I never sailed: couldn't get into the union (I needed an uncle). I had never heard of the Merchant Marine Academy up to now.
  17. It's sort of like with drug legalization. Weed is being legalized, but the popularity of meth, fentanyl, etc is up. Maybe some people need more of an outlaw rep -- dads are smoking pot, no pathway to cool there. For some young people these things aren't any fun if it doesn't tick off their parents. Adventurous sexual orientation went through a phase around 1970, definitely amped up when the glitter thing took off. (Remember the Kinks singing "Lola" in 1969? Jagger singing a love song about Bowie?) Please don't tell me fashion has nothing to do with this. About ten years ago I was talking with someone who was attending what is supposedly the most liberal college in the US (hint: it's in the NW) and he they told me at that school if you are not gay or bi you're expected to apologize for it.
  18. He should take a loooong sabbatical in the Falkland Islands, it would do the US some good.
  19. This is a textbook move for these right-wing outrage mongers. Pick a place where no one of any consequence is going to challenge you, make as big a fuss as you can while keeping yourself wrapped in the flag the whole time, one of the country's finest patriots. But these guys care about nothing but themselves, for either wealth or political gain. That worm Cruz once gave this tactic away by accusing someone else of doing it, with details. Pretty funny. Merchant Marine Academy? Get real!
  20. Good post. Here's a bit more: https://slate.com/transcripts/dkxWQlpNYkdBSnBXUmZ1NkYvNDBVOWtPOWtGbk9iWTZ0b2FXS3R3M21rYz0= The two to watch are Bannon and Flynn.
  21. Weep not. He was the one who put up a bounty on election fraud and Fetterman called him out. Wonder of if he ever paid up. If the location is the one I'm thinking of it is quite a nice campus, built on hills with a view to the east. Maybe he plans to move Twitter there as well.
  22. There are billboards of this sort all over the USA. A smart person would be aware of the propaganda before taking a side. *Graphic edited out*
  23. The way some celebrities like to show off their gravid bodies you would think it qualifies as a fashion accessory. *Graphic edited out*
