I am not trans and not gay and not even non-binary or something like that. So I have to have something that separates me from the crowd. ???? -

Phuket is a ripoff since decades. Does anybody expect that the locals decide something like: Nobody likes this place anymore. Let's be nice, get rid of the crazy prices and make everybody feel welcome? Or is it more like: We didn't make any money in Covid times. Now those stupid suckers come back. We have to charge them more to compensate for our losses...

Some terms are just used by people because they are used by many other people. I.e. if I talk to Thai people about "my farang friend" they will have an idea about (part of that) person. If I would say he is a westerner or an American or a Dutch guy or a white guy that would be more complicated. That's why I call a farang a farang. And then there is obviously the question how often people use a term. I.e. recently I wanted to talk to a black American guy about racism. I see him from time to time and we are friendly but he is not "my friend". I was not sure if I could/should use the term "black guy" because other words were used for many years until someone decided that now that word is racist and can't be used anymore. All that PC <deleted> makes thinks unnecessary complicated. OneMoreFarang -

It angers me that now it's impossible to not see one day of news without gender this and gender that "news". Is that really so important? How many people are affected by this? 1% Maybe 3%? Imagine all those activists and politicians would use all that time for important things like how to make life better for all of us and not just the 1% who shout loudest?- 253 replies

Maybe have a look here: https://th.rs-online.com/web/c/?searchTerm=din That shop is relative expensive but they have some things others don't have. And they have a reasonable good filter function.

It would be interesting to know how many people had all the legal requirements and just wanted to have somebody who helped them to get it done and how many had i.e. no money in the bank, etc. If all legal requirement were fulfilled then I am sure everything will be sorted out. In the other cases - maybe not so much, or only after paying a big "fine".

Do you touch any girls in those bars? Do you think anybody else touched them before? What is a higher risk?

I fully agree A long time ago Yingluck said that she is not interested in politics. And then her big brother convinced her to run for PM - with no relevant experience. She was elected and she got her chance. She could have worked for the people. But then she showed that her main interest was to whitewash her brother. The rest is history. If another Shinawatra will be elected we can be pretty sure history will repeat itself. Maybe she should think about what a wonderful comfortable super rich life she could have ...

The short summary is: wear a mask. Because basically all Thais wear a mask and they will look at you like an alien if you don't do it. Today I was in a good hotel. At the entrance I ask the security guard, who was wearing a mask, if I need a mask. He told me: no. A minute later I used the lift. The lift stopped one floor up and I heard the guy on that floor: No, don't go in there, the guy has no mask...

Why I Moved from the Bangkok Post Forum to ASEAN Now
OneMoreFarang replied to renaissanc's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I was writing comments over there some time ago. I don't know if that changed, but when I was still active it took hours before post were published. And if I was up early and commented maybe at 6am then it was never published. It seems all comments before a certain time were just deleted. And then obviously the same posters again and again and again and no ignore-button. I gave up with them.
