  1. For your information.. Charging stations are being installed in the car park under Central Festival Samui. A whole parking area is being designated just for this purpose. Can't see how many CS at the moment as the area is boarded up.
  2. Now that is a pointing opportunity if ever I saw one.
  3. Samui. On my last renewal in January, even though I did photo page, visa, and last visa stamp, they still wanted all pages. They have insisted on a medical certificate (no more than seven days before application), and a hand drawn map, plus a Google map complete with GPS co-ordinates, for a number of years now. A bit of a joke really. This year a different doctor to the usual one I see. Didn't even go into the examination room. Me and another guy were told, "Arms out straight in front, palms down. Now turn palms up. OK done." At least the old doctor used to use his stethoscope, and asked how I was feeling.
  4. Is that all? We also have to provide photocopies of all passport pages, a hand drawn map (it seems the Google Maps one with GPS co-ordinates isn't enough), a medical certificate, and sign another form stating that we understand all the visa rules and the consequences for breaking them. Oh! And all must be in portrait layout. Plus they keep slightly changing the visa application form TM.7? and will refuse to accept any older versions. Makes it almost impossible to scan and keep as a .pdf to fill in on computer.
  5. A lot more than the yellow one because they will know they have you by the balls. E.g. 10,000THB or Red card? Which would you prefer?
  6. I wonder how much it will cost to get that yellow card put back in the pocket.
  7. Oh well! I don't fit that demographic. So not for me.
  8. There are many threads on this. I think that two banks (Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn Bank) particularly Bangkok Bank, can show the transfers as International. Some posters say you must use the reason for transfer as "Long Term Stay in Thailand". Others say that to be 100% sure, it is better to contact them and ask them to set it up. Either way seems to work, but the latter does seem to be more definite. Have a read of this of better info: https://wise.com/help/articles/2932335/guide-to-thb-transfers
  9. Would you still be charged if you transferred the money from your international account to Wise, and then did the transfer from there?
  10. Is the service charge optional? I asked someone who works in a hotel and they told me that it is. In that case, surely it should be shown in the price of the meal, and only ever shown separately if it is indeed optional.
  11. I one read that there are three great cuisines in the world: French, Chinese and Turkish. Don't know much about Turkish cuisine, but what I have tried (and I am not talking those Doner Kebab things) was very good.
  12. There used to be one along from Makro. Troika, I believe it was called. Might still even be open as I saw people entering when I drove past a few weeks ago.
  13. Forcing rental prices up in Samui also by creating a shortage of availability. Just normal reaction to supply and demand. Same with the international schools filling up, road traffic very busy and shopping mall and supermarkets packed.. Thai businesses such as restaurants and massage parlours must be doing a roaring trade. Nothing to complain about.
  14. Tops have Waitrose frozen Garden Peas.
  15. The Amari Chaweng has quite a good breakfast buffet.
  16. It’s good that they are getting back into profit, but to be fair, they didn’t have much competition last year on some routes. EVA for instance Once the other airlines get fully back to flying the Bangkok routes, and competition hots up, we will see if they can compete price wise. EVA’s planes are new and their service is very good.. Thai looked quite jaded when I flew with them in early 2022.
  17. Where did I say anything about ads? I was talking about the constant yellow pop up asking if we want to sign up for a newsletter.. As far as ads go, it has been mentioned time and time again that many of them interfere with using the website due to bad positioning.. Members have said it makes them not want to use it. Including posters in this very thread. .
  18. Not sure if this would work for stopping the yellow pop up. Opening a free Hotmail or Gmail account just for the purpose of signing up for the newsletter. Then forget about it. We really shouldn’t have to resort to such measures. A mere not interested thanks should be enough to prevent these repeated pop ups.
  19. I bet she was in shock when she was arrested and told she would be extradited back to the US to face charges. Now she faces imprisonment and the possibility of losing the right to live in the US.
