Doesn't say a lot for living in China, but I suppose many of us expats feel the same about our own countries. Including me. -

Replacement filters around 800 to 1000 baht according to type on Lazada. I haven't needed to change my one yet.

Non Imm O based on Retirement (800,000).

His local bank is Bangkok Bank. -
Helping a friend do his application. He currently does not have UK internet banking. Bit of a technophobe, plus visually impaired. I am trying to teach him, but after reading all the scam stories, and considering his impairment, he doesn't trust sending money that way. Worried he might press the wrong button. So to my question about transferring the THB800,000. As far as immigration is concerned, would it be acceptable for it to be sent to his Thai account by his son from his son's UK account? Or does it have to come from his own UK account? TIA

I did state, "But not cheap." Naturehike is a Chinese brand that makes outdoor clothing and equipment, including tents. They are probably one of the better ones. Obviously, as you stated in your OP, you will have to bear in mind that Asian XXL might not be the same as European XXL. If you click on the link below for a quilted jacket, and scroll down, there is a size chart showing dimensions for XXL. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004821527092.html HTH

There are outdoors shops such as Columbia, North Face and Montbell in both CentralWorld and Siam Paragon. They sell winter clothes such as quilted puffy jackets, fleeces, beanie hats and gloves etc. But not cheap. You can also find winter clothing on Aliexpress and Lazada. Cannot guarantee quality of Chinese stuff, but Naturehike is not too bad. I can go one better. I have a runny nose on one side only. The other always seems partially blocked. Years ago, I saw a doctor and she diagnosed Chronic Rhinitis and gave me a nasal spray that didn't do anything.

UPDATE: Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for their help and advice. It really made things a lot easier. My friend got the residence certificate(s) and has now managed to open bank accounts. Fixed Term for the retirement money, and a savings account for day to day. Next job is to extend his visa exempt which expires beginning Feb, then apply to convert to Non Imm O based on retirement. A quick question. How early can he apply to extend his current visa exempt entry?

When you do your retirement extension application form TM.7., ask them for TM. 8 and do the application for a Multiple Re-entry Permit at the same time THB 3800. You can apply for a Single Re-entry Permit, which is THB 1900 I believe, but as the name suggests, only allows a single re-entry.

Forgot 90 Day Report - what to expect.
phetphet replied to phetphet's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
I handed her an envelop on which I had written: Visa extension: THB1900 Multi Entry Permit: THB 3800 THB 5700. I was told "One more." So I gave her another 100. I just hope she wasn't asking for 1000. ???? Never a smile for me. The saying, "Face like a Bulldog chewing a wasp" comes to mind. As for organised. It would help if they stopped changing the forms and requirements every year. I used to keep TM7 and TM8 .pdf's in my computer to fill and print. Now have to visit immigration to pick up latest forms and check what else they want that is particular to that specific office since the previous year. -
Beware, Thai police checkpoint on-the-spot fines jumped to 1000 baht

Lots of Russians here at the moment. Probably a lot of them had to leave home in a hurry, with no chance to plan such things as IDP's or maybe even driving licences. Easy targets. -
Forgot 90 Day Report - what to expect.
phetphet replied to phetphet's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Are you sure about that? When I once went in about ten days early, they told me, " Too early come back next week." I went in today, 18th ( my extension expires tomorrow, and was told to come back and collect my passport on 26th. Though this time, they sent me away to put all the documents in the order they are mentioned on the requirements sheet. Again got charged that mysterious 100 baht extra. 5800 for extension and multi re-entry permit. They never tell me what it is for. Maybe they do some extra copying. Still. As long as it all goes smoothly. -

Yes proof of funds letter from bank
phetphet replied to jwest10's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I put in my visa renewal application today here in Samui. Letter and 12 month statement. Copies of passbook name page, and last page showing latest deposit(s). I still had to leave immigration and return to bank because I had to make a deposit on same day, as passbook needs to be updated same day as visa application. I did try to make the deposit (THB100) the day before, but the deposit machine said magnetic strip error on passbook.
