Report Israeli Tourist Sparks Outrage Over Shoe Rule Dispute in Thailand
phetphet replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Removing shoes when entering a shop or café used to be much more prevalent. Nowadays many don't seem to mind. They even stopped it at Samui Immigration in the last year or two, but many places still have signs asking that customers remove shoes, especially if they have polished wooden floors. I also find many pharmacies still request shoe removal. I actually think it is a good thing, and we all do it at home. If the café owner gave her permission, then no problem, but it really isn't a big deal to kick off one's footwear. Perhaps she had a reason to not want to do it. -
BritManToo. If you look anything like your avatar, perhaps you should give it a go too. 😀

If he ends up there himself, he could star in his own movie. The Turdman of Alcatraz. 😀 -
Cannabis Dispensaries in Koh Samui - Top 10
phetphet replied to CharlieH's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
They are doing the 7-11 trick now. I,e. Opening opposite or just along from each other. Just after the legalisation law, my daughter counted 18 on Chaweng Beach Road alone. I bet many more along there now. It’s crazy. -
Transgenders should be banned from women's sport due to their unfair strength advantages. The only way to get around this to maybe satisfy the woke and remoove that physical advantage, would be to have extra gender competitions / races for trans women and trans men. Let trans women compete against only other trans women. Take away his hormone supplements for a month or two, then tell me it is still a woman.

Accident Dramatic Skid: Air Force C-130 Veers Off Samui Runway
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
It will probably just be parked up in some far corner of the airport and left to rot. Isn't there still a Bangkok Airways plane parked up there that was damaged a couple of years ago? Or have they repaired it yet? -

Chinese robotics firm reveals major humanoid robotics advance

Anyone with the name John Connor must be starting to feel uneasy. -
Jews and Arabs in general don't get along due to recent history. More so lately due to Gaza. Putting them together in any university or situation where they are together is going to create strife. Rules, legislation and threats of expulsion can be made to try and stop it, but it won't change the personal animosity. Only keep it suppressed inside.

USA Trump Admin Revokes Four Thousand Student Visas Over Serious Crimes
phetphet replied to Social Media's topic in World News
While I am not a fan of Trump or his administration, if these students really have committed serious crimes while studying at US universities, I see nothing wrong in revoking their visas. I only wish the government in my home country had the balls to do the same. -
Florida man says "I run the country and the world"
phetphet replied to Jingthing's topic in Political Soapbox
The scary part about it is this: Now that he has done it, other future presidents might have the same idea. See how far they can push their powers. Rule by "Executive Order". If and when Trump is out, there might have to be serious discussions on perhaps beefing up the Constitution, or making Amendments to prevent another virtual dictator, Dem or Republican who chooses to ignore the Courts and the rule of law. i wonder if those Judges who gave Trump Presidential Immunity are having second thoughts now. -
America has emerged....as an international laughingstock

How can you make a deal with someone who is likely to renege on it in six months, insisting he wants a better one and will impose tariffs unless agreement is forthcoming? -
I have the Xiaomi 4 and am very satisfied with it. I do not need an app to use it. There is a small black touch screen on the front where you can adjust speed, see temperature and filter percentage.

How scared should we be of Trump's authoritarian tendencies?
phetphet replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
I saw a piece yesterday where it said that if he continues to defy the Supreme Court and override the Constitution, the Military might soon have to make a decision. Either support the President or the Constitution. It was not advocating a coup, but foreseeing a time when the Generals, Admirals etc., might have to tell the President that he is going too far. -

All Vaccines Will Kill You - The evidence is overwhelming
phetphet replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Covid/Vaccine
While I don't doubt that some people can have adverse reactions to particular vaccines, on the whole they provide protection. What you also seem to be forgetting with your charts are the after effects of some of those diseases on the unvaccinated who survive infection. I know someone whose 16 y.o. daughter contracted Meningitis and lost her fingers and one foot. Pretty sure she would have preferred to have been vaccinated against it. -
I might be totally wrong on this, but it is a fear that I have. By downloading and using one of these AI models on one's phone to supposedly make life easier, (in this particular case I am thinking of Apple's AI), doesn't it require access to apps, contacts, data etc in order to "assist"? Don't AI companies suck up as much data as possible to allow their LLM's (Large Language Models) to learn and improve? So extracting and holding users data is part of the deal. No thanks. This is why I have been resistant to using AI. I can see uses in pharmaceutical testing, finance etc, but for the run of the mill Joe Public, not so much. Except maybe kids trying to cheat homework. 😀 just my opinion.
