  1. There must definitely be something that attracts mossies to some, but not others. Many years ago on holiday in Goa with a friend, I used to walk around in shorts , flip flops and t-shirt, and they hardly bit me. Even when they did, I just got a little non itchy red mark. Meanwhile my friend, who was sprayed up, wore long sleeved shirt, jeans and cowboy boots was getting driven mad. They were going up the jeans, down the boots and biting him through his socks, Large red spots on his ankles. The worry there at the time was malaria, and we had taken prophylaxis. They still don't bother me too much. Still a little red mark when bitten. But you only need to be bitten once by a carrier, and that is what happened to me about four years ago when I caught dengue. So I try to be more careful nowadays.
  2. What makes you think there was a driving instructor in the car? She has probably never had a proper lesson in her life. Maybe not even passed a test or got a licence. Many Thais are driving around without licences. No policing to deter them. Just because she has a red plate car means nothing. Could be rich parents, or bought on the book. I had a lucky escape from similar. Waiting at a t-junction to turn right on my scooter, when bam!. Hit from behind and pushed out into oncoming traffic. Which luckily managed to stop. All I got from the woman driver was, " Sorry. I never drive manual car before. Only automatic."

  5. I found it on an IPTV service. On a US Channel called GRIT.
  6. UK Post Office offer several options based on price / length of time to deliver. I think the quickest when I last used it was six business days. If important, advise sender to go for Registered Mail or Track and Trace. To be signed for.
  7. Just started watching a TV series called Deputy, starring Stephen Dorff. About a straight talking, take no s*** Deputy Sheriff who gets promoted to Sheriff of LA due to an arcane law from the old wild west days and can't sit behind the desk, or handle the politics. Lots of shooting.
  8. Maybe look for a reliable IPTV service. They are out there. Just have to do some research.
  9. It's not dodgy. As far as I can see it is just taking advantage of the tax system as it stands. You only ever bring in money earned in the previous year. Don't forget, as a UK non resident, it is not possible to take advantage of any share or tax ISA's. there for investments so you would get hit with a double whammy. From UK Gov website: If you're abroad You have to pay tax on gains you make on property and land in the UK even if you're non-resident for tax purposes. You do not pay Capital Gains Tax on other UK assets, for example shares in UK companies, unless you return to the UK within 5 years of leaving.
  10. I have a UK address for UK bank purposes. Even though I have lived full time in Thailand for several years. Without it the bank will close the account. I also have several UK investments. Shares etc. I was told by an accountant that I would not be liable to UK CGT on profit from any sale of said shares as a non resident UK. Any funds brought into Thailand are not taxable provided they are not brought in in the year they are earned. Thai tax years starts 1st January I believe. Also I see that BitKub are asking where one pays tax in their latest KYC questionnaire. Thailand probably needs to get some readies from somewhere after the pandemic and collapse of tourism.
  11. Thantakit is pretty good. Dental and orthodontics. Has three branches in Bangkok, but the main one is on Phetchaburi Road. https://www.thantakit.com Also Truth Dental, Soi Chidlom. I have used both. https://www.truthdental.com/en/home
  12. Depends. Hand made from the finest cashmeres and silks? Or all nylon from China? Monogramed ? Or not?
  13. GF says they wrote the wrong date on the paper they gave her (charge sheet?) and her son is a lawyer. The police won't talk to him.
  14. She should have bought a Ferrari with the proceeds of selling that one plant. The cops couldn't take that chance in case she mowed one of them down and did a runner.
  15. I'm done with Samsung TV's once this one (65" QLED) goes. Problem with two out of my last three Samsungs. Next one will be an LG OLED. Back to topic: I use an Nvidia Shield TV Pro. On it I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer, KODI, TuneIn radio and an IPTV service. Also have a VPN and a few other apps installed. Works well for UK stuff via the VPN. I have also used it to view US Netflix, but the last few months been difficult. Either the ISP is throttling or Netflix are doing something. Either way, buffering is really bad now for US. Just ordered a Xiaomi TV Stick 4K to try as a portable option for travel.
  16. I need new tyres for my 2019 PCX 150. Looking at the Angel Citys on Lazada. Large variation in prices. Do they even sell fake tyres I wonder?
  17. I reckon a lot of red and yellow polo shirts will getting dug out of the back of the wardrobe and laundered.
  18. If a person of authority happens to live at the end of that dirt track, it might be a good place to start.
  19. So that's how the Thais manage to squat down on their haunches. I always fall over when I try.
