  1. Mate, you are not going to get a competent and honest government. I imagine all the Thai's and farangs here would want that too. Personally I would just take a democratically elected government, Thaksin, his sister, daughter, anyone you want to name, just not one with any military influence.
  2. The answer is a straight yes because in the UK, definitely, and probably all the other Western Country's governments are also greedy and corrupt, the same as Thaksin, but they were at least voted into power in a general election. do you really want any future Thai government with any military involvement?
  3. No offense OneMoreFarang, but I would rather see The Pheu Thai party win the election than any party who has soldiers involved with it.
  4. I wonder who will have accomplished the most personal wealth during their time as PM. The unelected Prayut, or the properly elected Thaksin. ????
  5. He probably could with all the money he will have accomplished since the "coup" that never was in 2014. Please don't give him any ideas.
  6. If I was a Thai, all I would want to do is be able to make sure that whichever party "wins" this election, that there will be no soldiers or anyone with any connections to the military, involved with them what so ever.
  7. Thanks Crossy. That's it now, your a star.
  8. There are 3 outlets for the surge protection only, surely there must be somewhere to plug the desktop in to in the UPS, I cannot see anywhere except the TEL, LAN, in out.
  9. I now have the UPS, but the instructions are in Thai, no English. I thought all I had to do was plug the all in one desktop into the UPS, then the UPS into the mains, I did that but am obviously missing something out. Anyone help?
  10. I don't like googling things as you do not always get a straight answer, besides I would rather get an answer from someone who has had the problem and had it fixed correctly.
  11. How Is a Retirement Visa Simpler Than a Marriage Visa? Simple, making things unnecessary harder is in the Thai gene's.
  12. "which will throw Thailand back to 2006." Thailand was a far better country then than it is now.
  13. There is no bigger criminal than the present unelected caretaker PM, difference is the soldiers have all the strength behind them that would keep him out of jail.
  14. "he increased the minimum sum required in the bank from 200,000 baht to 800,000 baht". That was bad but any westerner could go to the border every 90 days, and get a stamp without being forced to do a 90 day report. Can they do that now? We need rid of the soldiers at all costs.
  15. That is certainly the way it should be. If only they could find some way of keeping any soldiers well away from parliament.
  16. A cashless society in Thailand???? With big companies like Makro and Honda not accepting debit cards.
  17. It is not often I agree with you, but you have got this one right.
  18. Well why shouldn't you? This is a public forum, and commenting is what it is for, as long as it is understood that everyone is entitled to an opinion as long and it is within forum rules.
  19. I am also staying at home during Songcran apart from going to the shops, as all it will take is some farang to throw water over me and will be treated as self defence. No prizes for guessing how that will turn out.
  20. I never got into the White House, but did stand outside at the iron railings.
  21. Yes I have been in new New Orleans, took the night train there from Memephis, also seen the Statue of Liberty from the top of the Empire State Building.
  22. But is it not mostly in recent years, especially before the last coup that Thailand was doing very well with tourism? I do know that tourism was really going down in the two or three years before the pandemic, and it was the soldiers and their immigration issues that was mostly responsible for that.
