  1. RCD / RCBO protection has been compulsory on new installations for at least 15 years. Get your certified sparks here: - I even know a couple of chaps who have the paperwork, they're not doing domestic for a few Baht, they are on the mega-projects and O&G and earning $$$.
  2. Puyai-baan was on the speakers earlier saying that the older houses in the village are entitled to free electrical safety checks and Safe-T-Cut devices. He does seem to spend government money wisely ????
  3. I'm not an optician, nor do I play one on AseanNow. My understanding:- Non = Plain, untreated glass Hard = Hardened Glass HMC = Hardened and coated glass https://www.mikeoptical.com/newsdetail/the-difference-of-uchc-and-hmc.html Blue-cut = Adds a blue light filter, could be good for reading. MR-7, MR-8 = Is the lens material https://www.koalaeye.com/blogs/our-stories/what-is-an-mr-lens
  4. Do you mean this thread? Still exactly where you posted it ????
  5. Let's pop this over to the Alternative Energy forum. Good news that you've managed to at least start the process with a DIY system, the acid test will be actually getting your export meter, at least one member has been waiting years for his (On a professionally installed and approved system)! Shelling out around 20k for approval to sell at 2.2Baht per unit, so you need to sell 9,000 units to break even on the approval cost. If you are really over-producing by 10kWh per day that's 900 days or 2.5 years. Do keep us informed how things pan out and good luck! ????
  6. Are you working? If so, any of the major banks "should" be able to give you a real credit card (no security deposit). I have cards from AmEx and Citi (now UOB) both with sensible limits. If not working then it's much more difficult, IIRC AmEx did offer me a credit card some years ago "no WP required" but since I was working I never needed to actually test what they would offer.
  7. You could also try Snake Brand Prickly-heat powder. Gives that nice warm feeling too.
  8. Headline tomorrow - "Prayuth steps in as interim PM as 'it's the right thing to do' after inconclusive PM vote".
  9. The world's largest rodent. They are really cool and friendly animals, they even chill with crocodiles! Want one as a pet? Large and expensive, but not impossible. https://www.thesprucepets.com/capybara-pet-4101211
  10. There are members who made cardboard models, so Lego isn't really that far fetched ???? Just for info, this free government plan: - Became this, very not-free, edifice for Madam. Structural elements mostly unchanged so no re-approval required ????
  11. SCB told me definitely! But without the facial it's no less secure than it is now. Ongoing thread here, let's continue in that thread: -
  12. He's definitely no slouch https://www.essentiallysports.com/ufc-mma-news-does-mark-zuckerberg-train-mma-which-brazilian-jiu-jitsu-belt-is-the-meta-ceo/ TV rights anyone??
  13. @Longwood50do you already have drawings, sketches, photos of what you want? Trot them down to the local ampur planning office, they usually have an "architect" who will draw up approvable plans for a nominal fee. It's worth asking as they will invariably be cheaper than an independent architect. EDIT are you looking at something that doesn't fit with the regular Thai pole-and-beam construction? If so then all bets are off as to what it's going to cost ????
  14. We used one of the pre-approved drawing sets from the local ampur office, they have books of them. Find something similar to what you want and adjust the drawings by hand. So long as you don't change the structure then no further $$$ needed ????
  15. The headline is somewhat misleading, there's nothing "covert" about it. Decidedly overt!
  16. Every. Single. Time. ????
  17. I use Ivacy based in Singapore, responsive support, works for the BBC etc. etc. Best offer comes out at around USD 1 per month, pretty close to free ????
  18. Got the "approved" text at 6.30 this morning. We shall see how well it works when I next send Madam her housekeeping (ok it's the mortgage money as well). Meanwhile, Bangkok Bank app says I can go to any branch with my passbook to do a photo (but I'll still need to update my PP I suspect). Domestic transfers are currently limited to 50k but it also says that international transfers are 200k THB per day.
  19. And the "no shirts" don't forget them!
  20. Update on the Bangkok Bank issue. I've decided I don't need a new card, at least for now. When I got my new phone, I tried to activate the app and it wanted my card number, old number wouldn't work (expired), so I shelved the idea. Fast-forward to an hour ago. I just did an update to the app and this time it gave me the option of using my online banking credentials, which worked. It is now telling me I have an online transfer limit of 200,000 Baht, no mention of facials ???? We shall see next month when I send my $$$ to the UK.
  21. Could well be, but I've got new passbooks with new PPs at that branch in the past. It's no real pain, my home branch is close to the BTS, I'll just take a wander when I don't have a meeting. I could be some time!
  22. Not sure if it's pertinent, but I also have a new PP, but that's been no issue in the past. OP edited for clarity.
