Has anybody not told the new smiling donkey pm that Thailand does not allow gay marriage? Probably address that first before harping on about pride events, which is all about money to him by the looks.

Labour ministry to raise minimum wage to Bt400 max by December
daveAustin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Hardly. It’s all relative and look at other parts of Asia and Africa. Ascribing western wages is, again, naive. Minimum earners in the UK get something like 3500 baht a day and that is essentially unliveable there with your own digs. You could double, triple, x10 wages here but what do you think is going to happen? Everything goes up in kind and the low earners still get the shaft. That is the monetary system I’m afraid. -
Thailand’s economy needs a major boost : PM
daveAustin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Resigning his government and installing the winning party in place—you know, that democracy thing—will give a nice boost to the economy, improve Thailand’s standing overseas (read: everyone apart from China, Russia and those other dodgy nations) and make the people happy. -
Not really. Only thing that really keeps me up is the possibility of coming back for another round and being born diseased to abusive parents in the back of beyond or similar. If there’s ethereal bliss on the ‘plane’, then so be it, but if it’s either of the above or nothingness, I’ll take the latter thanks.

Dengue fever remains a clear and present danger in Thailand

I’m not seeing either but couldn’t really care a tinker’s toss. Perhaps it’s to make newbies feel better 😋 -
Sounds as though she’s depressed… guessing she wasn’t always this way?I’d consider moving back here too if you think it’s worth saving, or if only to get divorced here which would be infinitely easier… drop her some money then return to Czech. Kids will be fine; it’s the high school they could do with being back in Europe for. If you divorce there, everything will likely be stacked against you. Luckily never had these issues when did Europe with Mrs, albeit she is laidback, works hard and a good mother. Sucks to find out your wife is pretty much hopeless after having kids. You have my sympathy. I would still try to save it though, but that would likely entail coming back here. Those that say to walk away from your kids (I’d sooner die) are losers/trying to be funny and not worth entertaining. All the best.

Thaksin Had Four Shoulder Incisions: Paetongtarn
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Just released from Neurosurgical ICU for a few ‘shoulder incisions’. They wouldn’t be playing this up for any reason, would they? For all we know, he had his eyes tested.- 52 replies

Alcohol Sales Banned for End of Buddhist Lent This Upcoming Sunday
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Many days through the year. Thought they would’ve moved on from this by now. People still drink, at home or otherwise. It doesn’t do the tourism sector any favours. Never mind; their country, their rules.- 82 replies

Alternatively, when you buy a new pair of standard ones, certain brands, like Sennheiser, will supply a range of buds to accommodate different ear sizes. CX250 for instance.

Probably not the best place to be if you don’t like the natives. Have a break. Personally prefer to be around Thais than people in my own country. Generally find them chilled and unstressed. Exact opposite to what you experience. Are you in one of those touristy places?

Thailand must adapt to meet its unique demographic challenge
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Here’s an idea, if they double tax all foreigners, the greedy rich Thais won’t have to pay their just dues. 😜 -
Who gives a flying one? As long as they’re happy. Why are people here getting all het up about it? Bizarre.

Most People Favour Closing Night Venues At 2 A.M.: NIDA Poll
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Fair play, the all-knowing boomers can be annoying 😋. Dunno about later hours but guess it’s nice to have the choice and should probably be certain areas like Bangla in Phuket. If you live there and moan about the extra noise; well, who’s to blame for that? Forget the later hours for a moment and take away the daft purchasing times in the day. This bewilders tourists more than anything. -

Big Bike brand with good service in Thailand?
daveAustin replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Triumph is a decent option nowadays; chuck a Trident around in Thai traffic no end. They're put together here, What is others' experience with servicing. Would go naked bike where possible. OMF, glad you put Big in quotes when talking 4-700cc 😉 -
Lived in Phuket in the early 2000s. Very much enjoyed my time there--esp Kata Noi--and the great food and cycling. Have nowt against Chinese, more large groups thing, but would not want to do it today. You have my sympathy.
