  1. It is 33.3%.....that is not miserable in my book. You are wrong about tips only. Usually 100 Baht from a 200 Baht massage fee. 120 Baht from 300 Baht oil massage fee.
  2. haircut - 20/40 Baht massage 50 Baht (500 Baht for happy ending)
  3. I'm actually amazed that it took you almost all of those 9 years to discover ASEAN NOW forum...........or did it?
  4. Just to follow up.....my friend eventually got registered and approved after about a week. Last week he received the 90 day report reminder. He put in his new address and was approved within 24 hours. TM30 .IO seems to work.
  5. I doubt that much (if any) of that was paid out for so called delays. The processing timescales can be increased with impunity.
  6. I think that you will find that the issue WAS at this end. It is not uncommon for mail not to arrive (I know of a few cases where mail HAS arrived from HMPO). They should routinely use email as communication is immediate. I don't know why the phone contact didn't work.
  7. That is a good sign and is the 'normal' timeframe for taking the card payment. You are 'underway' and I hope that another 5/6 weeks will see you in possession of a shiny black new passport.. ????
  8. Was that sarcasm? The appalling standard of journalism is also well known, buy it is not too much of a cerebral challenge to decipher the article.... It does seem to be beyond some readers though. ( That was also sarcasm)
  9. You have been here long enough to know a typo when you see one.......
  10. If you can understand it, it can't be gobbledygook ???? I didn't claim any factual accuracy.......
  11. Just because you don't understand it, doesn't make it gobbledegook.
  12. IMO home is where the heart is and once you commit to Thailand (usually because of attraction/attachment to a Thai partner) you make the best/most of your location. I started by renting a small house on the Darkside, Pattaya; after a year I decided that I wanted to try Buriram. I enjoyed it and bought land there, on which I later built a house. I also had a business for a few years. I often rented a condo for seaside breaks but was happy with Buriram as my main home - only Bang Saray caused me to change that; I was looking for that change, I was just drawn in.
  13. No, not wasted, I did actually enjoy living there. But....I wouldn't have chosen Buriram as a place to live were it not for the fact that my GF lived there. Had I found Bang Saray first, I may well not have made it to Buriram.
  14. Wise words of caution. Do you actually know anybody who has been "caught up in a failed situation"?
  15. ....and you have hard evidence of many of those checks being done. Please post details.
  16. Thailand default mirror position,
  17. Buddhism does not prevent gambling. Thai laws prevent the legalisation of gambling - that is why casinos sit at every border point.
  18. Thanks. I hadn't thought of that.
  19. Yes, a few hundred Baht should sort matters out.....I would deal direct with the cleaner. Some hotels may take the Mickey and try to claim 'full damages' as per their published list.
  20. Absolutely no issue with the service that you are promoting - but there are others. I pay 2,500 Baht p.a. for mine and have all live sports including UK EPL and EFL. SKY sports and Movies, with a good stock of films available (although I tend to prefer Netflix). The only issue that I have both up in the Boonies, and in my condo, is internet speed/reliability - that will be an issue for me with any iptv service.
  21. Yes. I had the PDFs available as well but I think they were only interested in the comfort of the bank papers.
  22. The usual caveat that each Immigration office may operate slightly differently. At Jomtien they were happy with the bank letter and statements highlighting the appropriate monthly transfers. They showed no interest in the corresponding WISE pdf printouts that I handed over.
  23. I confirm that Jomtien advise "30 days". Official Immigration Bureau website states 45 days Buriram, for example, allow 40 days. I have also heard that agents quote 3 months before.
