Plenty of exercise and a good diet are needed as a first step, cut out the salt, i found cooking my own food the best remedy.

Sounds like she is depressed, does she have friends? there maybe Thais about but many are bargirls, she may not want to be involved with them. What level of english does she have? no work in a foreign country, different culture not many would be happy in those circumstances

I was told there was a problem with nurse shortages, apparently if you want a private room, a nurse is mandatory, and there is a shortage of them. but this was in Bangkok -

The NHS do not recommend the yellow fever vaccine to the over 60s unless travel is unavoidable , i have read a few reports of bad reactions to the vaccine in the over 60s https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/yellow-fever/vaccination/#:~:text=People who may be able, breastfeeding babies under 9 months https://www.gov.uk/drug-safety-update/yellow-fever-vaccine-stamaril-and-fatal-adverse-reactions-extreme-caution-needed-in-people-who-may-be-immunosuppressed-and-those-60-years-and-older I thought there was a newer vaccine, but worth checking with a reputable doctor

Banking been stopped!!!!!!!!!!!
howerde replied to slappy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Assuming you are British and have lived in the UK then surely you understand that access to the NHS is via your GP, ( no GP no NHS treatment A AND E free unless admitted, and treatment for STD is free. currently there is no cross checking of databases by the NHS to see if people are still resident in the UK -
Banking been stopped!!!!!!!!!!!
howerde replied to slappy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
That is not true, if you are British and living overseas then you are not resident, that is why you lose your right to access the NHS and your state pension is frozen (unless you are living in a country with a reciprocal agreement) All the major banks will have an expat account based in the channel islands or isle of man they can all be opened online(just look at all the big banks websites), be aware that the costs are much higher than a UK account, usually you need a high deposit and or income -

So you opened an account by providing false information? no one knows how banks occasionally close accounts maybe they occasionally do a sweep of accounts or check details, think it as last year Barclays closed a few thousand accounts , if not resident in the UK don't rely on keeping the account, always have a plan B -

Unless you become a UK resident then there is not much you can do with reference to Santander, trying to open another UK bank account without being a resident is unlikely as banks do a soft credit check (electoral roll, credit checks etc) You might look at Wise / revolut / starling bank. i do not know their criteria. You may have to consider an off shore bank for expats that are based in Jersey/Guernsey. or Isle of Man. most UK banks have an international bank arm based in these countries https://www.santanderinternational.co.uk/international/ -
You might need a police report, showing it has been lost

DTV and 90 day reports
howerde replied to HauptmannUK's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The visa you get at an embassy or consulate are handled by the MFA (ministry of foreign affairs), once inside Thailand Thai immigration are responsible for immigration. so 90 day reports need to be done, like wise TM30 reporting of foreigners needs to be done, none of this concerns the MFA, there is little cooperation/understanding between the 2 parts of immigration, i don't see other visas such as O-A etc etc mentioning the reporting or TM30, remember after 180 days you go for an extension you will be dealing with immigration not MFA so it is to early to say what requirements THEY will require , such as 500 000 still in bank/tax returns evidence of attending cooking school etc etc -
The O-A insurance must either be from the TGIA list, if you use a company from outside Thailand then you need to down load a form(foreign insurance certificate) and have it signed by a director of the company, be aware i have seen people reporting back that the embassy/consul simply does not accept the form, probably going to depends where you apply from. This is from the Thai embassy London website https://longstay.tgia.org/companiesoa The pdf form is in red at the top

BUYER BEWARE - questionable medical care
howerde replied to The Snark's topic in Health and Medicine
All to common here, unnecessary tests (poor interpretation of results), the only way is to do your research on the doctors(never take a hospitals recommended doctor), i would also read up on the condition so have some idea of tests required. My experience of Thai doctors is they do not like to be questioned, always get someone who has at least spent time abroad -
I went this week to get the next 5 year extension to my O-X visa at CW, if anyone is still thinking of this 10 year visa, note the changes, for the second 5 year stamp, you now need a new criminal reference check from your home country, new medical showing no diseases, cost 10 000 baht, and health insurance, according to them you still need 3 million in the bank despite the website saying it can be reduced after 1 year as long as the money is spent in Thailand, i had a young IO who spoke perfect english and without prompting said she knew i could not get one from my home country, she said i had the option of just leaving Thailand before the stamp expires and return getting a visa exempt entry and apply the non o retirement She also said without me asking that the new simpler retirement visa would be launched early next year and to keep a look out on the Thai embassy website in your home country for the new rules.

I just reentered the country recently and my 90 day report still isn't due for a while. Not sure I can file one so early, can I? I am not sure if they will accept a 90 day report done before you left the country or expect a new one Do you mean that the 90 day report simply needs to be up to date or do you need to do an extra one just to apply for a resident certificate? You need to take your last 90 day receipt they do check it
