  1. I had this terrible experience in India 17 years ago so from that date forward I have ONLY bought and used CLAM SHELL cases with NO ZIPPS at all. EVERY zipper can be accessed a friernd of mione in Customs in Australia told me. He said CLAM shell cases were the most secure but CUSTOMS can open them too.

But at least others need more time - than the time need to open zipper cases so I feel safer.

  2. aussieuinthailand post # 25.

Thinking of the conditions of a Thai gaol, and those inmates that may disagree with my politics,,,

now considering the current political situation and the likelihood of a fair, non bias, and balanced trial by the fair non bias and balanced judges, (are you taking the p*ss)

would you come back? as or me, under these conditions, NOT A CINDERS CHANCE IN A SNOW STORM WOULD I COME BACK!!! and I suggest most people also would not,

Does your reply come from you here in Thailand or outside of Thailand?

Your post implies that you seem to think that Thailand is such a dreadful place now .

Strange how some people come here for what they see, then want to change it to what they want.

Indeed your posting style is a credit to the late Chopper Read school of sophistication, culture and gentlemanly conduct for the aspiring Australian males who live abroad .

I think he is referring to political climate meaning FOR HER which is going to be very very hot if she comes back
  3. No idea why your bank will not give you the cash, you can bring as much as you wish so long as it's declared at Customs in Oz and Thailand.

Living in a smallish country town, the "codeshare" bank wants to charge for Armaguard to make a special delivery....and pay for armed escort to my car and such...rather keep a lower profile!

    1. Give your bank 3-4 days notice if you need a large sum of cash.

    2. If they don't provide - change the bank! Your money - your way or no way!

    3. Search, plenty of topics on TV on this subject.

I personally always bring cash. A month back I brought a $45,000 CAD in - nooo problems!! Changed at VASU and got a good rate!

Thanks, been researching now on TV......and have also seen Ozforex are having a "first transaction free" promotion.....might look into that.

Can anyone see a problem if I do a SWIFT transfer from our joint account at Adelaide bank to my wifes account in Thailand (think she has 3 banks,SCB,Kasikorn and Krungthai)

Don't have a personal account yet in Thailand......

    Thanks again.

DO NOT EVER transfer to kasikorn from Oz. I did and it goes through Citibank in Hong Kong FIRST regardless of what they tell you back home and you get the most SHIT RATE EVER.

I use WESTAPC and pay $20 only and send AUD to an AUD account at Bangkok Bank NO ISSUES.

Do that. Be safe Have no questions.

And to open an AUD account at Bangkok Bank you need residency Certificate and PASSPORT and that stupid Blue form they clip in your passport saying you will leave one day TM2??/ i am not sure what it is called.

This way you have no Immigration issues or questions and YOU choose when you wantto convert the money.

I even withdrew AUD from Bangkok bank in Kad Suan Kaew in Chiang Mai no issues

  4. Actually this could have been a deal brokered between the Junta and thaksin.... Don't invite PTP or any Reds Shirts and we will let your sister leave the country.

Also, had they all got together, the media would have been all over it, and the Junta would have likely rejected all applications to travel seeing as almost everyone in that clan need to seek permission from the Junta to leave.

this is a face save for the junta. Yinny buggers off, no prison time , no protests about gaoling her and no headaches and she learns to wear a batman outfit.

  5. Just out of interest, do these international firms have to form partnerships with Thai companies/investors or can they operate on their own?

That will depend on many things such as where they fall in terms of the Foreign Business Act and what, if any, Board of Investment privileges they have applied for.

It is possible to get 100% foreign ownership but most companies can't.

They can usually protect their investment and decision making ability through other means though...

Also , Americans can get 100% ownership under the Treaty of Amity but again with restrictions on what type of business.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

the Treaty of Amity is expiring, I think next year
  6. That is of scant relevance to the interest of the international community in the way the Yingluck matter is handled. Thailand wants to avoid more bad press ....it needs to be seen to do the right thing, regardless of any criticism of Yingluck's performance as an administrator.

Sorry but you just did hit a nerve when you spoke about transparency and fairness, when we did not get it during her government why would we feel she deserves it now? but the fact is she has had the time, look up the events leading up to this.

The topic is not about Yingluck going international, it's about her stalling for time, only a few on TVF have your view, why not most ???

Frankly, I would be paying more attention to the views of the international community , in some ways made clear already, rather than the (majority) of posters on TVF . Many on this forum appear to live in self-imposed exile/vacuum , without the remotest understanding of how the rest of the world views events such as these.

Oh sure, most of us reside out here, and the heat has sent us silly in the head ??? your few it has not affected.

Quite possibly, yes. There might be other explanations. I'm open-minded

I am afraid prbk you are too open minded.

That last remaining brain cell escaped!

  7. To deal with these matters in a way that lacks transparency and fairness is asking for trouble. Thailand doesn't need trouble anymore than it needs gratuitous advice from you and your kangaroo court cronies

I have an idea, in fact a little bird told me that there was near zero transparency in the Yingluck non governing-elected government.

    you are personified
  8. You won't get anywhere with this lot, Yingluck. Take them to the international Court of Justice and see how much they like that.

Hello PBRKK - you still here, eh? Perhaps you can advise us how citizen Yingluck, no longer PM, can take anyone to the International Court of Justice. But then again she can't, and you obviously are as full of nonsense as before.

Of course she can lodge a case and with other international bodies. She is being denied natural justice and has every right to be heard and to present her case, in full, and with transparency. You wouldn't like that but the rest of the world would like to see it. The last thing Thailand needs now is a scapegoat.

I don't think she can lodge a case with the ICJ. That's normally for states or sometimes certain agreed UN bodies if it's an advisory case. A UN body might be able to do it on her behalf but I can't see a reason why they would.

Yes, it would not be the norm but in the event that there is so much as a hint of unfairness within Thailand, it will end up in the international arena. That is certain.

but who in the international arena cares?
