Thai Post is not the problem. My last set of documents sent to UK via Thai Post registered mail spent two weeks in customs at Heathrow.

I took your advice and used Google. All the answers were spectacles shops. You had a test yesterday last week? Did they hand you the prescription? I can get an eye test in every spectacles shop in town for free but none of them will give me a prescription.

I can find plenty of optometrists in my area but they are all in shops that sell spectacles. They will only give you your prescription once you have purchased spectacles from them. The place in JJ did an eye test but would not give me the prescription. A pair of progressive lenses there ranged from 20- 28,000 baht. I wish to buy my spectacles online but require a prescription to do so. I will gladly pay a spectacles shop for a prescription but can't find one willing to do it without purchasing spectacles.

Where do you go if all you want is a prescription? Tried an opticians in JJ mall a few weeks ago and they wouldn't do it. Using a hospital seems overkill but is that the only way?

Thanks for the link. I tried spraying with Bordeaux mixture last year which is a copper fungicide with mixed results. The black spots and shrivelling only seem to affect new growth and don't seem to spread to twigs or older growth. I have some copper and lime left over from last year so may go round spraying tomorrow and see if it helps.

Firstly I am not a farmer but have a large garden with a lot of mango trees. The mango trees are all grafted varieties planted by us and range from a few months old to about 20 years old. Every year I get a problem with the new growth getting covered in dark spots and becoming shrivelled. There is also a problem with what I believe to be leaf cutting weevils. I have had some success against the leaf cutting insects by spraying cypermethrin. Can anyone give any advice on what is causing the dark spots and shrivelled leaves and how to prevent it please?

If you have had a physical check and everything is ok maybe try a dentist. Wisdom teeth problems can cause several of the symptoms you describe.

There are two stories on a few solicitors websites regarding domicile. Sir Richard Burton spent the last 17 years of his life living in Switzerland to avoid UK inheritance tax. HMRC considered him still UK domiciled after his death because his funeral instructions were that he be buried wearing a red jacket, holding a book of Dylan Thomas's poems and his coffin be draped in the Welsh Flag. The other is a financier who moved to Monaco. After he died HMRC found that people familiar with him mentioned that he hated Monaco and spent most of his time in Paris. With regard to Thailand I suspect it is hard to do unless you have a minimum of permanent resident status. Hard to claim it is your permanent home if you are on yearly extensions of a non immigrant O. The UK solicitors I spoke to regarding wills, inheritance tax, domicile etc. were unwilling to give a definitive answer other than I would more than likely be considered domiciled in the UK.

The Will validity is my signature and the signatures of the two witnesses. Unless another Will is written at a later date it remains valid. I suspect the MOFA is just a step in the usual Thai bureaucracy needed before a Thai court will accept it.

My solicitor only mentioned the procedure in the UK. I assume once it has been approved by the Thai embassy a Thai lawyer will proceed with the requirements in Thailand regarding authority from the MOFA and probate. As far as I am aware this will be done after I die.

I agree that a Thai court can only deal with assets in Thailand but if a person has two Wills the only way a court could check for conflicts is if they see both Wills. If one Will states it is for worldly posessions and another states for Thai assets then there would be a conflict. My will specifically states it relates to all my assets anywhere in the world.

The Will is registered in the UK. Upon my death the Will will be presented for probate in the other jurisdictions. For Thailand the Will will need to be translated into Thai by an approved translator and then submitted to the Thai embassy for their approval.

I already have a single Will in the UK which covers five jurisdictions including Thailand.

Agreed that the foreign Will would not be approved if anything in it contravened Thai law. Would still like to know what a Thai probate court requires when considering the assets of a foreigner. I would have thought they would need to see all the valid Wills a person has to check for conflicts. If that is the case the foreign Will would need translating as well so why bother with separate Wills?

Simply not true that a Will from another country is meaningless. The foreign Will needs to be translated into Thai and approved by the Thai embassy. If you have more than one Will problems can arise if anything in one appears to contradict the wishes of another. People thinking it is a simple matter of writing separate Wills for different jurisdictions may not be helping the beneficiaries when it comes time to sort things out.

I am British and recently did my Will through a British solicitor. I have one Will to cover all my assets in five different jurisdictions. As far as I can determine I will be considered domiciled in the UK by the tax authorities so my worldwide assets come under UK inheritance tax laws. Solicitors seem reluctant to give any hard facts on how an estate will be handled as there are so many variables that can change. I would be interested to know what a Thai court would require before granting probate for a deceased foreigner? Will they need a nod from the foreigner's embassy? Will they want to see other Wills the deceased may have?

Their is a component that automatically raises the idle speed whenever the AC compressor comes on. The mechanic mentioned engine idle so maybe that is what he means? If they don't make that component any more maybe join an owners club forum and ask if any other compatible ones are available.

For safety reasons the brand name chargers will not charge a battery pack that is below a certain voltage. All that is being done in these videos is zapping a bit of power into the battery pack to get the voltage high enough for the charger to work. May be no problem but if the battery pack voltage is lower than it should be there could be faulty cells in it and then there is the possibility of it catching fire.

I bought a cheap replacement on Lazada for a hedge trimmer knowing it would not be very good as I wanted the case. I then bought real 3,000mah 18650 batteries and replaced the ones in the case. New spare battery pack for about 600 baht. Been using it every week for over a year and it is still going strong.
