30,000 baht for glasses? I paid 14,000 for photochromic progressive lens glasses in a shop next to my local Makro. Stood on them about six months later so used the prescription to get new ones from Zenni for 5,000 baht.

From the article it seems he was never in prison. It appears he was fined and kept in IDC waiting to be deported. I suspect the conditions in IDC are rough but the pictures suggest you can have a mobile phone. It would also seem he needed the NZ embassy to get him a flight? Was that due to his conviction or because he had no money to buy a ticket?

Historically enamel cookware started with cast iron. How is anyone supposed to gather that you were talking about carbon steel cookware when you mention enamel pans?
-
Enamel cooking pans may be carbon steel but could also be cast iron or even aluminium. A carbon steel pan is bare carbon steel, an enamel pan is metal coated in enamel.

Rush, Pink Floyd and Wishbone Ash. -

Surprised no one has mentioned carbon steel. Most of the benefits of a cast iron pan but lighter, usually have a decent length handle that doesn't get red hot during use and unlikely to scratch the surface.

Are you saying you would be forced to keep your digital currency in a bank? People would no longer be able to own stocks, gold, bonds, property etc. as investments?

I like fishing and usually fish for hampala barbs in the local river. After watching a few videos on YouTube I decided to have a go at fishing for giant snakehead. I check Google Earth for old style canals with a concrete walkway in my area and give them a go. I start at sunrise and pack in when it gets too hot. Below is an example in Ban Phaeo district, Samut Sakhon. 20221102_080533.mp4

Naked British Man Goes Berserk in Pattaya Hotel
alanrchase replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
The article is from The Pattaya News, it is posted in the Pattaya News forum by AN. Why would anyone expect articles in this forum to cover people going nuts in Bangkok? -
I went to Siriraj government hospital a few months ago to see a specialist for diagnosis. I was examined and admitted that day for a minor operation. I was in a 4 bed air conditioned room with one other patient. Nurses came round regularly and food was provided. I had to pay the estimated cost before admission and was refunded money when the final bill was calculated for my discharge the following day. Great service.

Pictures of school lunches spark social media outrage

By my calculations they are paying about 30 baht per meal. I assume the meal is served to them and people tidy up afterwards. It may not be gourmet food but what do they expect for 30 baht? -
Anyone using AliExpress in Samui?

If you click on the shipping method it usually gives you other options to choose from. Aliexpress standard shipping is usually one of those other options. -
Anyone using AliExpress in Samui?
alanrchase replied to gearbox's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Recent experience is that the free shipping items are not arriving. If the shipping method is either Cainio or Aliexpress global super economy the items are routed via Malaysia. Malaysia post gives them a registered post type tracking number that shows on Malaysia Post website but is not recognised on Thai Post website. The item is updated to arrived in Thailand and nothing else happens. Three of my last four orders using those shipping methods have not been delivered. No problem with Aliexpress standard shipping. -
If this were a thing I would not be able to stay here. I have lived in houses owned by my wife and son, no rental agreement and no lease. My extension is granted due to having a TM30 and signed copies of house book and owners ID as proof of where I live. What would they do if you had a one year rental that ran out 3 months after your extension date? Someone has misinterpreted something.

COVID makes comeback in Thailand as booster fatigue leaves door open
alanrchase replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why not try a state hospital as the article suggests? Got my booster at the local state hospital, for free, last time. -
Phuket sees Covid-19 surge, lax prevention and booster shot issues
alanrchase replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I've read the whole article and can't find the panic mongering. There is some information about an increase in covid hospitalizations, a suggestion that people may wish to have a booster and an assurance that it is not a strain on hospitals. Why do you think the article will cause panic? -
According to the internet it is the coating on the cover that crazed. Seems it is common in hot climates. Here is a Thai guy fixing his.
