  1. Avast is on my phone as an anti virus app. Should I not try and protect my phone from viruses? Maybe you know of a better one? I have never had any dodgy third party apps on my phone, they are all from the playstore, including Avast. As far as I am aware the web protector option in the app is to warn me about dodgy websites that could harm my phone.
  2. The issue seems to have been caused by Avast mobile security web protector. I just did a scan after reinstalling the app and was prompted to turn web protector on. I checked the bank app afterwards and got the security alert again. Went into settings again and turned it off and the bank app works. Web protector is in the accessibility settings.
  3. A scan was done at 7:30 this morning and all apps declared safe. Uninstalling several apps has fixed the issue. For some reason my bank app was unhappy with one of those apps.
  4. All apps were verified by play protect. Can only assume my bank app didn't like an update to one of the apps I uninstalled. Possibly an older app was no longer supported by playstore.
  5. Just uninstalled a few rarely used apps and it is working again. I can only assume that an app update must have caused the issue as all the uninstalled apps were from the playstore and have been on my phone for months. Unfortunately I was too lazy to check the bank app after each uninstall so am not sure which of the 5 or 6 apps was causing the problem. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  6. I have just uninstalled and reinstalled the app and the security alert comes up as soon as I try to open the app. Checked my phone software and am on Android 9, app should run on Android 7 and above. Managed to open a browser page using the click for more information. All in Thai but was basically telling you to uninstall the problem app but did not tell you which one it is.
  7. All apps on the phone are from playstore, no new apps have been added to the phone since the bank app worked last week when I topped my phone up. "Click for more information" just goes back to the security alert. I am not going to uninstall apps one by one and find out the bank app still doesn't work. Thanks for the suggestions but I think a visit to the bank will be required. Internet banking still works if I need it.
  8. Watched the video and found the accessibility menu option and it is turned off. If the "click for more information" actually gave me more information I could uninstall the alleged problem app but it goes nowhere. I used the app on 26 March to top my phone up and have not altered any of the apps on my phone since. Thanks for the suggestions but looks like a visit to the bank will be required on Monday.
  9. Checked for updates, several apps required it but not the bank app. Updated the apps, cleared cache in the bank app and restarted the phone. Issue is still there.
  10. Tried opening the app on my android phone last night and got a security alert message saying an unauthorized app had been detected on my phone. There was a box to click for more information but clicking that just made the screen blink and return to the same security alert. I have not downloaded any apps since I last successfully used the bank app. I phoned the help line and they mentioned turning accessibility off. Had a look in settings and am not sure what they are talking about. Has anybody got/had a similar issue and if so how did you fix it?
  11. A bank is threatening to close an account and people advise them to commit fraud to fix the issue. Unbelievable. I would contact the bank and ask if it is ok to use a family members address as a correspondence address in the UK. If the issue is purely that they are not a permanent resident in the UK look into offshore banks.
  12. Why? I have a card so it doesn't concern me any more.
  13. Nakhon Pathom. Originally you could just shop with no problem. They then started to require a slip of paper with a number on to be shown at checkout. Maybe they were having issues with other peoples card details being used to acquire reward points when non members went through checkout. Nothing to do with foreigners, non member Thais needed one as well.
  14. At my local Makro if you do not have a card you have to give your details (driving licence) at the customer desk and get a slip of paper with a code number. When you get to checkout they use that code for the till. I got a card to save the bother of the customer desk and slip of paper for every visit.
  15. Thank you. That is what he was describing.
  16. I visited the Bangkok Hospital in Nakhon Phatom today and the doctor gave me a referal letter and suggested Samitivej hospital. He said there were two departments, the full private hospital side and a university type hospital side. I have Googled Samitivej and found out there are several in Bangkok. He said it was Nakhon Pathom side of the Chao Phraya river which would be Samitivej Thon Buri. Does anyone have any information on this hospital such as it having private and university departments, cost, service etc.?
  17. Yet the wording in the link to this article uses the term ladyboy, so there goes your PC narrative. Ever think AN purposely uses terms to troll for responses to articles to improve the stats they can use for advertising?
  18. I am not required to sit a test to renew my car/motorcycle licences. I do the reaction and vision tests, watch a video in english on the computer at the DLT and get issued my new licenses.
  19. A quick update. I received a receipt in the post today for December's bill, bit strange as the direct debit payment started with the January bill. Anyway, it seems my PEA does post receipts but they are a month or so behind. Thanks for the replies.
  20. I used a recent letter from a UK bank as proof of address. If your ATM card is also a debit card you can use that to pay.
  21. The receipt and tax invoice on the app have no details for how the bill was paid, the only information on them is the name from the blue house book. With internet payment the receipt was with the next months bill printed by the man reading the meter. The top half was the current months bill and the bottom half was the receipt for the previous month's payment, however, no information on who paid the bill. Generally banks etc. will not accept anything printed from the internet as proof of address anyway.
  22. Several years ago I paid the PEA bill by direct debit and would get a receipt in the post every month that had my name on as the person paying the bill. This was handy as an acceptable proof of address for my foreign banks. I changed the payment method to internet banking a few years ago using the PEA app and receipts can be downloaded from the app. Last month I changed back to the direct debit method as I require the receipt posted to my house again. However, it is now two weeks since the bill was paid and I have not received a receipt. Does the PEA still post receipts to your house for direct debit payments or have they gone paperless? If needed can you request a receipt be posted to your house?
  23. Chargers for cordless power tool battery packs will not recharge a pack that has dropped below a certain voltage for safety reasons. Pack may catch fire. Bypassing the charger and directly supplying a charging voltage to the pack can raise the voltage enough for the charger to then accept the pack for charging. However if the Li-ion are truly flat there is nothing you can do to bring them back.
  24. Not true. You can get points added to your licence with a fixed penalty fine.
