When applying for a visa it shouldn't come into it where the money is, visas can be applied for by anyone, not just those with a Thai bank account. In the last couple of years I have had 2 visas from UK using funds in my Thai bank, other applicants would be predominantly a UK bank. Visa applications normally say recent bank statement.

Anyone with their ear to the ground should have seen it coming. I got caught out doing the marriage on income when they stopped the letters. My extension came up for renewal before I had 12 month of transfers, I went to HCMC in Dec 2019 and got ME without any financials. A couple of months later covid hit and when that lifted HCMC wanted financials. Virtually a certainty Savanannakhet would follow suit.

Are you trying to suggest that I never stayed at the Siam Sawasdee or had to wait 20 minutes for a baht cab towards South Pattaya Road, or that there were plenty of baht cabs going back along Soi Bukhao from south road. Soi Bukhao was a shanty town in those days,a few karaoke bars in bamboo huts, not much need for baht cabs. Things took a turn when they bulldozed the corner at Soi Diana and built the LK complex.

Exactly why something needs to be done. For a significant part of the year the first timers outnumber the old timers and you cannot blame the first timers for being somwhat confused, we have all been there at some point. The problem is not going to go away only get worse. I would agree that one way is a bit severe as a first step, there are other options that could be tried first.

I take it you mean Pattaya City hospital, not Hall, the one I said I heard was unreasonable. I said I use Bang Saen, not Banglumung, that's Naklua and I live Chonburi, cheap there but I wouldn't recommend it. For a couple of years I was seeing a dermatologist and cardiologist and the they arranged the appointments for the same day so I only paid the 100 baht to see both doctors. It is made up of 2 x 50 baht, one for admin and one for nursing staff, the doctors come free. Unless you go to Pattaya City.

You had some valid points until saying that.

I don't think it was entirely wrong, pretty sure at that time the baht bus only went one way. There was very little on Soi Bukhao at the time and very little traffic. My first hotel was the Siam Sawasdee and can remember being stood for about 20 minutes waiting for the baht bus to the junction of south road and 2nd road. Used to walk back as there was no easy way.

The road is saisong 13 and got it's name from the hotel "The Diana Inn" that used to be on the corner of 2nd road. Think there used to be another Diana place with apartments at the other end of the road, called the Dragon now. All were part of the Diana Estate group.

Yes indeed W11 isa bit of a problem. I recently bought a budget notebook for my wife and that came with W11. What they have done is set the default file association to Edge so every time you try and do something it wants to make you use Edge, even with some new document processing features. If you go through the file associations and change all set to Edge to the program of choice it should cure that problem. Not sure what you mean with Google and Chrome, I have used those for years without a problem. My email is "googlemail.com" and they were discontinued in 2010. Some of the other suggestions may help but I would advise against an android operating system device. I had one and got rid after about a year.

The top end will always be used when trying to push a point. I am not long back and had fish and chips with a pint of beer a few times in Wetherspoons for about £12, in the afternoon the same is about £9. From a normal shop as takeaway about £10/11. Parking at supermarkets is usually free up to 2 hours. Accommodation in the UK has always been expensive, I went to my nephew's wedding in 2017 and was £85/night B&B, couldn't check in till 5pm. A few weeks later stayed at Holiday Inn in Pattaya for the same price. It's swings and roundabouts but the real downside to the UK is the weather.

You need to be careful over 4G/5G. There are very few 5G network routers on the market and those that are can be quite expensive, upwards of £600, Routers are often referred to as being 5G, with the 5G being a higher Wi-fi frequency of 5Ghz. I have a TP Link Archer MR400 going spare if you are interested. It is about a year old and only used it for about 6 months. When we had trouble with 3BB my wife wanted to use a SIM. I wasn't too keen but went along and bought the router and a DTAC sim. I use Kodi and found I could only watch the lower level links below 1GB without buffering. Paid for itself in about 6 months then went back to fiber. PS Apologies, didn't notice the time factor till page 2. I think when I was on the sim they were throttling the data. -
It is indeed. Laos needs others to do their part to get the real benefit. Can't for the life of me understand why they are not progressing the freight link between Vientiane and Nong Khai, probably the Thais cannot decide where to put the new station and freight depot When I was there in January the Vietnamese were looking to improve connectivity with Laos to benefit from the new train service, only takes 1.5 hours from Chinese border to Luang Prabang and 2 hours from LP to Vientiane.

Thai poll lists arrogance as their #1 complaint about Farangs.

Probably the same reason there are "Falang Towns" in Thailand and other foreign countries. At the end of the day it is never the host nation that are the foreigners. -

You should remember whose country it is. The Chinese to a certain extent have evolved over the years with very little western influence, They have created a a social culture perfectly aceptable to themselves but rather obnoxious to many from the west. Who has the right to say what is right or wrong in another country, particularly those with a very short history. It is the height of arrogance to go to another country and expect things to be the way you want. -
Please explain the difference between "Non-EU Citizens" and Non-Thai Citizens". You are distorting the rhetoric in claiming all Thai nationals have the same ethnicity. The European Union is going to introduce a €7 visitor visa fee in 2024. Non-EU citizens and travellers from outside the Schengen zone, including the British, will have to pay a €7 application to enter. https://www.rossmartin.co.uk/sme-tax-news/7012-europe-introduces-tourist-tax

We do that as a matter of course, very seldom do they look at my ID on check in.

I went in a bar in Vung Tau and they had 2 prices, locals and foreigners, guess what we had to pay.

In the middle of last year a pop up appeared on the e-visa site to say that from 1st July 2022 insurance would only be required for some visas, mainly O-A,O-X. Unfortunately pop-ups have a limited life and it would appear they have yet to update the website. This is from the AXA website. Starting from 1 July 2022, Thailand Pass is canceled, the insurance requirements will no longer be required for entering Thailand. Insurance requirements for other types of visa are dierent, please consult with the Thai Embassy or Consulate for the insurance requirements. For Special Tourist Visa (STV) and O-A Visa: Health insurance policy which covers the period that the applicant intends to stay in Thailand with a coverage at least USD 100,000 for medical expenses relate to Covid-19 treatment. For O-X Visa: Health insurance policy which covers the period that the applicant intends to stay in Thailand with a coverage of no less than THB 40,000 for outpatient treatment and THB 400,000 for in-patient. https://www.axa.co.th/en/faq-sawasdee-thailand-inbound#:~:text=What are the insurance requirements,be required for entering Thailand.
