Why do people on here call Thailand the land of smiles?
BritManToo replied to bignok's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Paid for mine last Friday morning, they gave me a receipt detailing the 200bht charges. CM immigration have recently streamlined their operation so retirement and marriage extensions are no longer mixed in with the general scrum. You get a numbered ticket the moment you enter the COVID gate. Walked in Friday after lunch, was out with my under consideration stamp in an hour. They said I was their 2nd family extension for the whole day. Hardly any retirement extensions either. Loads of ed visa extensions waiting, odd as I thought those were all gone now. -
Solar Recommendation for Blackouts
BritManToo replied to parallaxtech's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
MIne does! Most hybrid inverters switch seamlessly between grid and battery and solar panels. You can also set them to use grid, and only switch to battery if the grid fails. Mine is set to work as a full house UPS. I've only had one power outrage in the past year, when my kid shorted live to neutral. Whole system depowered until I hit the 'reset' switch. -
Climate change: July set to be world's warmest month on record
BritManToo replied to Social Media's topic in The Green Forum
It was to match your 100 "woe is me, we are all doomed" posts. Most of this thread is you trashing 'deniers', but you never actually say why it matters if other people believe or deny. -

From the story, woman driver didn't get out, the man who escaped was in the front passenger seat. I know you want to blame the man, but I can't see how it could have been his fault. -

Swimming pool is in the next Soi, 40bht to use. I prefer cycling to tennis or gym, 25Km 2x a week to the local lake. Dogs are not allowed on our estate, my wife runs the housing committee, and has any dogs roaming removed by the Amphur next day. No crime in the past 10 years. I've very content living here, quiet, rural, plenty of shops and a market within 200m. Swimming pool. HuayJo Lake. Housing estate park

Wherever you live, the village idiot is always happy! -
I had a pal in PI that was a bit old and infirm, near the end of his 3 years he went to PI immigration and said he was a bit scared of the flight out and in, they said, 'no problem sir, we'll just mark your passport as too ill to travel and you can stay another 3 years without leaving' Can't get more reasonable and helpful than that. I used to go to PI every 3 months (non-o multi bounces), and the pretty young airport immigration lady said, "you come here very often sir, but only for a week, you should stay longer and get to know the country and people more'. I got the impression, she would have been happy to show me around, her phone number was definitely available. Nice people in PI, they seem to like foreigners much more than Thai people, and immigration staff were always extremely pleasant, always smiles, never the Thai scowls.
