The start of my new 'Off grid' Solar install.
BritManToo replied to BritManToo's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
I'd suggest you learn to live without air conditioning. Becoming acclimatised to the country gives you a much better living experience. You sweat less and are much more comfortable outside. -

45 min power cut 9pm last night after the wind/rain/lightning, seemed to be all of MaeJo ...... apart from me. I was the only house in the MooBaan with full electricity. -
Can't say I've ever given a thought to the price of someone else's glasses. Same as their walking stick, Zimmer frame, wheelchair, false eye/leg. Just looked at my order history, I'm buying new ones every 2 years. Ordered a new pair of varifocals (progressive) yesterday, $54 delivered.

Vietnam for someone who's only lived in Thailand
BritManToo replied to jimihendrix's topic in Vietnam General Chat
Saigon is way better than Bangkok, I'd never live in BK but I would live in Saigon. It's very nice around September 23rd park. Viet girls hunting foreigners far more than Thailand. Bars much cheaper than BK. High speed ferry to Vung Tau for beach weekends. Just my Opinion. Under $2 for a coffee and a sandwich. -
Is the Weather noticeably hotter this year in Thailand?
BritManToo replied to webfact's topic in General Topics
Hottest where in Thailand? In Chiang Mai it's been the coolest year since I've been here (2009) with lower temperatures and much more rain. I've only used my air-con for 3 hours so far this month. -
African and Arabic people the same, generous and friendly one moment, killing/eating you the next.

OK, but also the broken door lock on the table. For someone that's only staying there 3-4 days, why would that be there? I don't usually do any DIY repairs when I rent a room for a night or two. Actually, I did once repair the Air-con in a room I had rented for 4 nights in Saigon. (pull out and wash filter in the sink, fix the on/off switch) But that was only because it was bloody hot, and it didn't look like they were going to do anything that night.

Barracuda Mango Prices Surge Amid Mango Sticky Rice Craze
BritManToo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
Mangos are selling for 25bht/Kg everywhere near me. As the season progresses they'll drop the price to 20bht/Kg. Same every year, and this is another bumper crop. My mango trees are so loaded (4-8 weeks before ripe) they're in danger of falling down. -
Long term latent effects of covid, anyone?
BritManToo replied to placeholder's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
I don't believe in long COVID. If I did believe in long COVID, I'm too old, and near death, to be bothered by it. I don't believe in god, witches, fairies, or global warming either. -
More likely the McD staff member couldn't read, write or think and was just instructed to 'put this up in the toilet'
