  1. If Anutin wants any credibility, cannabis needs to be 100% legal in all situations.
  2. Disagree, The future of Thailand will be defined by a it's ability to grow it's own food and generate it's own power. Along with it's ability to defend itself from foreign takeover (internally or externally). In many ways, Thailand is far in advance of many western countries on all those issues.
  3. For that to work in the west you'd need to never marry, never cohabit and never impregnate. Otherwise all your planning would be at the mercy of 'other persons' (said 'other persons' being the woman in your bed, the family court judge, and social services)
  4. Minimum payment for a full years NI when working in the UK was around 400 GBP/year earned in monthly chunks of 50 quid or over (so 400 quid from you, 400 quid from employer). Which almost exactly matches the class 3 voluntary contributions. I retired at age 45, then just worked enough to get a full years NI payments, and my yearly income topped up to 15,000 pounds by child tax credit between 2001 and 2009. Money for nothing!
  5. We worked out (early on) the ladies liked to see you drinking beer with your pals (and a table full of food for them to graze), and then they would try to cut you out of the herd. Maybe different if you only use gogos, but from my experiences in bars they don't like loners. The Thai restaurants/live music venues behind the shooting range (Rama IX Lanna Park) round the lake at Chang Puak were always really wild. Santitham Plaza was also always a good night out (Rajabhat university girls).
  6. My pals used to visit from the UK and always wanted to go bar hopping to look at the girls. I'd go with them, but COVID stopped all that, seems a bit pointless on my own. Not even sure Loi Krow is still there. Not been in a bar since March 2020, Siem Reap the day before Thailand closed it's borders. I was just about their last western tourist, it was a really odd night.
  7. I did a bit of cave diving when I was younger, Florida fresh water caves, Malta, Gozo and the Algarve sea caves. Too old for all that now.
  8. Less hookers and drinking in bars, no coffee ships at all (Typhoo tea is much cheaper, 1bht/cup). More beer and drugs (purely medicinal) at home. Books, movies, music, TV shows all downloaded free (apart from internet fees).
  9. I never had that, my problem was I landed in BKK and suddenly couldn't wee any more. ZERO waking at night or daytime incontinence.
  10. I would have to disagree and say it's a mainly 3rd world problem.
  11. @billd766 retired in 2009, full pension 400 GBP every 4 weeks. I retired 2022, (nearly) full pension 700 GBP every 4 weeks. That's more than a couple of beers!
  12. HBOGo + Monomax for 3bb subscribers .......... 40bht a month on top of your internet fees. Monomax is with Thai dubbing and Thai subs. ZERO buffering on either.
  13. Sadly there was no suspense because I've watched the 2 previous versions. The 2 lead actress and the young black girl were quite pretty. The scenery and sets were also nice (even though it was all fake). About time Hercule was played by a non-white, non-male, non-French accented person. Just to make it different from the last ones.
  14. I always arranged to meet them at a coffee shop near a 'resort', then if they didn't appear as advertised, I would just walk away. Not to mention my woman wouldn't like them turning up on our doorstep.
  15. Southern morals ............. Someone fought a war with you before you stopped keeping slaves, and even after losing the war you still wanted them segregated.
  16. If she's no longer providing him with sex, why do you think he should keep providing her with money?
  17. Once you're sworn to give then everything you own ........ Why would you expect them to make any further effort at all?
  18. Did you mean 'American hospitals', because as far as I can see Thailand is more expensive than any other western country. I'd go to India if I wanted cheap hospital treatment.
  19. I cook the mince first in a saucepan, then spoon it onto the raw pastry without too much gravy. Makes for a nice firm base.
  20. I did the claim online, no birth certificate (or any other documentation) required. Can't imagine why so many people choose to make stuff difficult for themselves.
  21. Agree, but the gale force winds and torrential rain put me off a bit. I lived and worked in Glasgow for 6 summer months, once the windows to my apartment were blown out, it also rained every day.
