  1. You'd let your woman browse online for an upgrade?
  2. Agreed, an easy way to lose all your money very quickly. Best to come out here with enough to last you, or work back in the west and just holiday here.
  3. Hookers seem to prefer Latino music, can't go wrong playing Maluma/Enrique/BeckyG More respectable young ladies (my step-daughter) are happy to sing along to Takatan/Gratae/Ja You need to fit the music to your audience.
  4. I bought some nice yellow mangoes 25bht/Kg, and deep fried chicken breast in breadcrumbs 5bht/piece from our local Thursday market. Everything in the market is priced. Don't eat veggies, wouldn't dare buy the rotting meat.
  5. Local markets, item not priced = no sale.
  6. My favourite eating spot in CM, Huay Tung Tao lake, entry 20bht Thai, 50bht foreigner, over 60s free. But they won't offer you free entry (no signs up except 20bht/50bht), they ask for 50bht and you have to know over 60s is free entry.
  7. Every decision in my life has been based on the availability of booze/girls/sex. What else is there? Thailand is a great place to live! (along with the rest of SEA)
  8. I was enjoying the rest. My misses also has COVID at the moment, half of Thailand appear to have it. About the same as the flu, getting better now. I haven't taken any precautions, not that bothered. She swears by, 40% proof Lao Kao mixed with lime juice every day to cure it. That's what her entire village in Nan are doing.
  9. Agree, nearly all Thais will tell you what they think you want to hear, pointless to ask such questions. The only question I ask my wife, "Do you want the seafood", answer is always yes. Everything else, I issue commands, same as a Thai man would do.
  10. Mostly life is always about the money unless, 1. you don't have any money, or 2. you're Bill Gates/Jeff Bezos (and even they couldn't keep their women).
  11. To be fair, you were asking for trouble allowing your new gf to access your tablet/computer, trawl your data. My women doesn't get to see anything I have. As for what she's seen, delete it, or move it, and if the question ever arises deny it ever existed and stick to that story. No evidence = no crime.
  12. I wouldn't worry, the police in Thailand aren't all that bothered about domestic disputes. What they already did, see her safely off the property, is about the limit of their interest. Allegations of beatings and rape are generally ignored if you were living together. 'Why didn't you leave' is their normal response to such tales of woe.
  13. Not true, I can buy rural property in France for 1/4 the price of property in rural Thailand. Plenty of run-down farms in France with big land for E20k or less. Try buying a farm with 4Rai in Issan for 800kbht. Not to mention I can buy in my own name.
  14. I've seen so many 'disaster stories' (10-20) in person and only one success story. No need to read any more to know 'disaster' is the norm. On two separate occasions, American guy in a bar comes over to me and boasts how his wife is different, faithful, loyal, loving ..... I'd banged her the night before, at the time she was pointing to her phone behind his back. French guy in a different bar crying into his beer, blubbing about his wife sleeping with other men all the time, showed me her photo ...... yep, I'd had her too. I felt bad for both those guys.
  15. Well so far, Phnom Penh, Siam Reap, Baretto, Angeles & Saigon have all managed to match it for me. I could even include Chiang Mai and Hua Hin in that list. Obviously that isn't the case if you're one of those guys that can only score in a gogo. But women seem to find me and hunt me down even if I'm sitting in a park reading a book.
  16. That's a little different from what you originally posted. I care about the people who live in my house with me ............ not so much anyone else. I wouldn't ever put myself in the position of living in an extended 'her family' compound, that's just madness IMHO. The more of 'her family' that are around, the less attention/service/love you get. Filial Piety is all about her bloodline, and you will never be part of that bloodline.
  17. The married foreigners I've met (10-15), only 1 Thai marriage has survived. Some guys died (and were immediately replaced by the Thai boyfriend/husband), most went back to their home countries alone.
  18. My former Brit wife announced our divorce the same week I retired for good. The moment I stopped earning money for her (after 30 years), I was gone. So no different to Thailand.
  19. I don't really care if anyone in her family dies ......... not my business. Don't really understand why you would care either.
  20. We already saw what happened during the weakening power grid in the USA last winter. Those same conditions wouldn't hurt most elderly Thais at all. Wonder what will happen in Europe and the UK next winter if there's no Russian gas or oil?
  21. Nah, he was saying 'I bet you can't knock my hat off with that water pistol'.
  22. Why would they have English speaking nurses and doctors in a '1000 Euro' charging care home?
  23. Just as bad in Chiang Mai. They had soldiers sitting in a tent outside our local Thursday market. Can't risk the locals throwing any water at each other.
  24. That's great, I'm 66 can you find me a 20 year old (or even 30 year old) that will pay for me and buy me things?
  25. You can refuse to use places that have double pricing.
