  1. I've a couple of cheap screwdrivers give up, and a cheap chisel went rusty. All my cheap power tools , including a cheap hammer drill 9 years old still as good as new. Welder, angle grinder, electric screwdriver 2 years and working. Electric hair trimmer from BigC still working after 11 years (had to wire the on/off switch out). Solar cells and Suoer GTIs all working after two years (one of the GTIs has a broken fan, replacement fan 34bht) Pickup truck for 150kbht still working after 11 years, minimal repairs, no servicing, just fix it when something breaks. The only major failures I had was Samsung 55" Tv which broke after 18 months ....... not cheap. Samsung air-con failed after 6 years ...... not cheap. Samsung fridge failed after 7 years, Samsung 10" tablet failed after 3 years ........... not cheap. Having seen a pattern in my 'failures', I now avoid anything with a Samsung label on it. You must get tired of wasting your money? Drill was 650bht with a free kit of drill bits (Tesco Ruem Chok) ..... I've broken a few of the drills, but that drill has drilled a lot of concrete and box steel.
  2. I would class that as a serious problem. Little or no foundations and a very thin floor slab as well. Without foundations the weight of the floor slab compresses the land fill down and away from the house, which is what appears to be happening here. Eventually you'll have a wide gap at the top of the crack.
  3. I've got a house full of cheap tools. All working with no problems ...... apart from cheap spanners which tend to round the heads.
  4. If I hadn't accumulated baggage in Thailand, I'd probably be in PI or Cambodia. Just the VISA problems in Thailand would put me off. No requirements for any lump sums in PI or Cambodia, no need to ever visit immigration. Never had any food problems as I don't eat local food. Went shopping in Makro yesterday, 16Kg of frozen chips, 3Kg Cumberland sausages, 1Kg cheddar cheese, 2 bottles of HP sauce, 5l orange juice, 3 boxes of wine coolers.
  5. Agree, You always get nonsense posts on this sort of thread suggesting expensive purchases. Probably from people who have never owned a welder, and don't live in Thailand. My 1,000+bht welder has worked perfectly from the day I bought it.
  6. I'd put the Philippines and Cambodia at the top of the list. Cambodia, cocktails $1 and beer 50c. Philippines, bottle of Gin $3 Spain, Portugal and France has very cheap wine, everything else expensive. But you forgot hookers ...... no point getting hammered everyday without hookers .........
  7. More of a knock it down job. Assume the extension has ZERO value and bid accordingly.
  8. Do gypsies count as white? Aside from that she's really cute! Found 1883 episode 6 a bit dull.
  9. I don't believe in organ transplants full stop. There are better ways to use the resources.
  10. Need to see photo of crack. It could mean they didn't put proper foundations under the extension .... serious. Or it could mean the plaster/render has shrunk ....... trivial.
  11. The sort of low life that doesn't want his family or farm animals eaten?
  12. I could only narrow it down to ............................ 1. She isn't different. 2. Don't overpay, never pay upfront (or lend money). 3. Avoid all social contact with local males (unless they're convincingly dressed as females)
  13. Well said, I totally agree. Immigration appear to hate and despise the very people that provide the reason for their continued employment.
  14. 50/50 chance the Chang socket will fit the Panasonic surround. But Chang surrounds are cheap ...... and fit your existing wall box. Socket PCH-904N 43bht https://www.lazada.co.th/products/chang-pch-904-n-100-i2422511747-s8350654780.html Surround FA-203 10bht https://www.lazada.co.th/products/chang-fa-203-3-i2433278626-s8419009333.html Postage 23bht. Cheaper than buying two new plugs. I've replaced most of my house with Chang sockets and switches ...... ZERO problems.
  15. I'd rather have $800 worth of cannabis and beer .............. that would entertain me for a week or two. I value sex with an attractive young woman at around the 30 beer mark. If she wants to price herself at 40+ beers, I'll probably give her a miss and drink the beers.
  16. Replace the socket with a 'down' facing socket (Chang 904N). https://www.lazada.co.th/products/chang-pch-904n-i3303996323-s12241710585.html
  17. I didn't get much in the west when I was young and wealthy either. England in my 20s Vs Thailand in my 60s. Thailand wins with 50:1 odds. And quite frankly the ones I've been getting in my 60s were way better looking than the one or two I had in my 20s. I guess it might have been different for famous wrestlers .......... The one's I had before I came to Thailand wouldn't have even got a lady drink out of me these days.
  18. Having used both, I can confidently state Thailand government hospital was better than the NHS for childbirth. It included blood tests of mom and dad prior to the birth to check any problems baby might have. And my wife enjoyed the waiting/chatting with all the other pregnant women. We even got a couple off home visits from the Thai equivalent of a district nurse to check she was coping at home after the birth.
  19. Just one question ........... What was the 12v battery for?
  20. Or download it free .......... https://en.th1lib.org/book/2765386/3121a6 This was the best item my friend purchased from Lazada ....... 5,000bht. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/grow-light-advance-grower-240w-v3-3500k-lm301h660nm-i2245787517-s7505234813.html
  21. I've also got an attractive woman in my bed every night (and sometimes a different attractive woman in a 'resort' bed in the afternoon) Thailand may not have saved my life, but it certainly added sex to it.
