  1. Her relatives, I ignore them, they ignore me. But I don't drive them around or buy them anything. Back in the UK I used to drive the previous lot around and pretend they were friends, total waste of my time. Come the divorce they all hated me and all I previously did for them was instantly forgotten. The Thai way is better IMHO, much more honest.
  2. Age 17 isn't a 'minor' in the UK where the alleged sex took place. In the UK 16 year olds can get married and have children. Way back when it supposedly happened the the age of consent was 13-15 in many EU countries.
  3. COVID will never be under control, it will be a stream of variants. Just like colds and flus.
  4. As far as I know it's up to the accuser to prove their claim (presumption of innocence, etc.). My brief always used to tell me, "say you weren't there, they probably can't prove you were, so case dismissed"
  5. Avoid all testing is the way to go IMHO.
  6. Not jacking, ATMs are disappearing all over the place because other payment methods are taking over. Home Mall removed all their ATMs as well, middle of 2021. I'm surprised you aren't still insisting on paying by cheque!
  7. He lives in the UK, she lives in Australia, alleged crime was allegedly committed in the UK. Can't see it getting him, and settling would be an admission of guilt, which is these 'woke' days is an unforgivable sin. Best to deny everything and keep denying IMHO. He's already made his best defence, "I wasn't there". Up to them to prove he was there 23 years ago, good luck with that! Off topic slightly, Rolf Harris got 5 years because he foolishly wrote a letter of apology.
  8. I'm considering this as my next upgrade. 5k5W hybrid inverter(normal +wifi) for 14Kbht delivered. https://shopee.co.th/อินเวอร์เตอร์ไฮบริดนอกกริด-5.5KW-MPPT-48V-Inverter-off-grid-hybrid-สามารถทำงานได้โดยไม่ต้องใช้แบตเตอรี่-รองรับ-WIFI-i.428988356.12724725647 10x 330w XinJing panels for 31K1bht delivered. https://shopee.co.th/แผงโซล่าเซลล์-XINJING-POLY-330W-วัตต์-37.70V-Solar-Cell-Panel-Polycrystalline-i.182095584.13655824843 12KWhr of battery another 50Kbht https://www.lazada.co.th/products/nmc-catl-48v-232ah-12kw-smart-bms-active-jikong-150a-i2937766522-s10775080147.html?&search=pdp_same_topselling (maybe I should save on the batteries and get 7KWhr for 29Kbht) https://www.lazada.co.th/products/nmc-48v-132ah-14s-683kw-i2646833087-s9512437008.html So around 95Kbht (or 74Kbht with the smaller battery) for the lot, plus some wire and breakers, which would just about take me off grid. @10 units a day, ROI would be 15kbht/year ........ so 6 years to get my money back (if nothing breaks) ...... 5 years with the smaller battery.
  9. Almost anyone with a smart phone will accept or pay 'scan' payments. My Bangkok Bank app certainly allows it, you can also pay using your bank app and their phone number.. Even my local market stalls accept it, Grab, Food Panda, Lex, etc.
  10. Both parents are tested when a child is conceived by the government hospital. 11 years back, I was tested (250bht) and my misses was tested (free).
  11. Genetic disorder similar to Sickle cell anemia, unless both parents had full blown case, they just give iron tablets. About 30% of the Thai population have it in some form. My wife had 1/8 and my kid has 1/16 ......... hospital issued iron tablets until he was 6 years old.
  12. I usually scrawl 'M. Mouse' on documents I don't want to sign. Nobody has ever noticed or pulled me up on it.
  13. Are you claiming the UK and Europe aren't civilised?
  14. Do the US courts have the right to try a UK citizen. If I were Andy, I'd just tell them to clear off, and avoid any future visits to the USA. Presumably they have no right to extradite, as it wouldn't have been a crime in the UK.
  15. Your moral standards are probably far too high to ever be a UK MP. These are 'rich' guys that bang their assistants, lie to their constituents and cheat on their expenses. (much the same as the Thai MPs)
  16. What if you were a UK MP who was given a 2 week all paid 'fact finding' trip to Phuket?
  17. Doubt I spend 200 pounds/month on food and drink. And I'm eating almost 100% western food, cooked myself from basic ingredients. As for health care, 50bht to see a doctor at the local hospital. That's cheaper than the car parking charges at my 'free' NHS hospital in the UK.
  18. But homes in your country are probably cheaper than homes in Thailand. Back in the UK I'd get nothing I wanted for 200,000 pounds (10MBht), then the taxes would be another 1500 pounds/year, and the utils would also want money every month. By not having that home in the UK, I can live in Asia for nearly 20 years.
  19. That would be me, but ......... 1. I'm not allowed to work in Thailand. 2. If I were allowed to work you probably couldn't afford me. Currently generating 750W from my 1600W of panels, which is about as good as they get.
  20. 8,000bht for a 'shopping' one. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/electric-bikeelectric-bicycle2-2021-i2982295083-s10938577403.html Several of the neighbours wives have these now, just right for a trip to 7-11 and the local market. 40Km on one charge, top speed 40Km/hr.
  21. I've found it best to avoid all foreigners. Come to think of it, I also avoid most Thais. Life is so much better when lived through a keyboard! And my sofa is way more comfortable than any bar stool.
  22. Sarangoon Road Oz TV series made in 2013 about an Ozzie private detective working in 1960s Singapore. I'm quite enjoying it. (on HBOGo)
  23. Not everyone's home countries are 3rd world, in most western countries you'd need to be extremely wealthy to keep a home you aren't living in.
  24. Maybe they're scared of catching COVID. As a previous poster stated, do thy really need anyone except Prayut? This sham Parliament doesn't need anyone else to be there.
  25. Would point out insurance isn't essential like food. Lots of people don't have insurance for anything. I actually had some Brazilian pals who didn't understand why anyone bought insurance. They said nobody they knew in Brazil ever bought insurance (unless required by law).
