  1. Yes I've done that at VFS. You need to provide the support document explaining need to renew a second pp even if it's not being used to enter/exit Thailand.
  2. https://www.gov.uk/renew-adult-passport says it can all be done on line now and costs £9.50 less for using online method? I haven't tried it? Anyone?
  3. I found the backlit keyboard very useful, if working in darkened environment. They aren't all multicolored, mine are white light. There's no need to use BIOS, usually there is a function key on the keyboard to tap a number of times for differing levels of brightness or off. I was in your situation in the past (even had an HP Pavilion I bought in Thailand I wanted to replace) and when I checked prices of high end models of any brand locally at your budget range (around 100kTHB) I found I got much more bang for the buck buying internationally off Amazon even including import fees by a factor of 40% or more. I took the risk on warranty but I have never had issues with any of my laptops. I haven't bought anything since before 2020 and recent supply chain issues so YMMV.
  4. Interesting thread thanks. Did you get the answer to above?
  5. It's not on Google Maps. Its on Google Earth. Install Google Earth Pro desktop (its free) and it shows elevs and profiles as well as 3D imagery. The elevation reference is the mathematical model of mean sea level. It will be every approximate as its measured by satellite, but should give a good idea.
  6. Definitely needs something to be done ASAP . The Watchdog Thailand Foundation need to change their initials as well if they want to get serious.
  7. NatWest do have an international account option (Instant Saver), I use them with no fees and a Thai address but it's not UK based, but in the Channel Islands.
  8. I contacted NT/TOT over the weekend and they simply replied the DNS settings to use were that of Cloudflare for both ipv4 and ipv6 and indicated nothing was wrong at their end. I had been using those settings already so not much changed. Then today I notice the internet access has returned to normal, so whatever NT/TOT has been up to seems to now be resolved after almost two weeks of unreliable service for me.
  9. I had a curved 27" Samsung screen for a few years and was so pleased with it bought another to double the number of screens. It does help on the eyes vs a laptop screen. Both are higher res than FHD, something like 2K as FHD doesn't do it for me. Unfortunately the exact same Samsung model was no longer sold so I had to buy their updated unit with the same size but different frame design, similar slightly higher price but the build quality was nothing short of a POS. The curved screen is just a flat screen bent into a curved frame. On the original model this was clamped into the frame and secure. On the newer model the screen is unbelievably just glued onto the outside of the curved frame at the top with nothing to clamp it on, so within six weeks the screen peals away due the force of the screen trying to return to its original flat built format and leaving an annoying white light emitting from the gap created. Rather than fix it, simple solution was black insulation tape all around top edge of screen.
  10. Maybe she was confused with the requirement to get Affirmation Of Freedom To Marry from the embassy, but you already had that?
  11. I use Surfshark and its VPN settings is set to Automatic.
  12. OK, good to know I'm not the only one. Any VPN location helps me, I just use a Thai VPN address for fastest speeds. I hope it resolves itself soon. Wife wants to change to 3BB if no improvement.
  13. I have been in the o/p situation before. If I was traveling internationally regularly I would not bother and just come in on a visa exempt. Then I changed to a Non O from visa exempt inside Thailand and extended annually based on marriage. Then getting the extensions annually interfered with my travel/work commitments overseas as the extension required a 1-2 month under approval wait time. So I switched to retirement once I was sure I wasn't going to more work within Thailand and any travel overseas was easier as the annual retirement extensions can be done on the day within an hour or two. It also saved dragging the wife and kids along every year to get extended.
  14. For about two weeks now I've noticed strange internet access problems, delays, pages freezing etc until I turn on a VPN? These sites used to work well well before on NT fiber optic. Anyone else notice a change in NT lately? No idea whats going on. In Bangkok area if that makes a difference.
  15. You can connect up to 100 JBL speakers wirelessly via Bluetooth. You can double the volume or listen to stereo sound.
  16. Been drinking it for years, but only with filtration system attached to the tap. Wouldn't otherwise.
  17. Did you use a foreigner registration option (I couldn't get it to work) or the Thai ID option?
  18. OK you did it somewhere, but not necessarily Bangkok Area 3, thanks. My experience so far is the DLT web site says you need an appointment booking. I tried the web site, no option for foreigner. I tried the DLT mobile queue app, where the option for foreigner register just doesn't work, but it does allow me to register and book an appointment using my foreign name and Thai ID# from yellow book. So I book and first available 1hr time slot is late September this year with 16 more spaces available in that time slot suggesting they process about 25 per hour and a wait time of 4.5 months. So I guess I'll just barge in with passport one day in meantime with a fake imminent flight reservation as you suggest and see if that speeds it up.
  19. At Bangkok Area 3 ? You have experience of this? Anyone know why online booking appointment is not available and what is procedure for sure?
