Buying a new car.........you'd think it was easy
CLW replied to Rampant Rabbit's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
How long do you live here? Do you really think this will be enforced? The Burmese security guard surely knows all EVs and hybrid cars on the Thai market.... And as opposed to other countries Thailand doesn't have a dedicated license plate or mandatory sticker for EVs. -
Foreign man goes on rampage in Bangkok hospital, allegedly leaving 1 dead
CLW replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
These so-called security guards and also the police force need some non-lethal tools to restrain people like this one. Batons, pepper spray or tasers would be good good start. -
Thailand Introduces Online TM6 as Tourism Fee Faces Delays
CLW replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Should make it with a QR code output and self service gates at major airports. Every human interaction (not only at Thai immigration) is going to slow down the processing time. -
Spotted this car yesterday in Pattaya. Based on the logo behind the black tape sticker I'd say it's a Haval ? Any ideas? Edit: I've done a Google lens search and it's obviously the new BYD Atto 2. I wasn't aware the BYD adjusted it's rear logo from build your dreams to just BYD hence I thought from the length of the sticker it could be Haval.

You said it already. Based on a previous iteration of the Deepal so it's old technology already. Who, except hardcore Mazda fans, will buy it? Not to mention that in my opinion Mazda cars have always been overpriced

Honda is a little bit late to the party. Can't see much market share or sales for it

Thinking about what terms? At home you should be charging according to the TOU timing. And usually I run the battery around or below 20% before charging over night. Using the timer function of my MG 4 I try not to charge over 80% unless we have a long trip on the next day. When we're out with the car, I'm combining the toilet, coffee, eating and 7-11 stop with charging. Really not much difference for me to driving an ICE car with the only requirement that the gas station or rest stop must have a charger. Once I have plugged in, I just hang around at the rest stop. Usually the time for hanging around exceeds the necessary charging time. When I'm on the road I'm never in a rush. The only downside, it requires a bit of planning ahead or during the trip. And you'll need a dozen of different apps for searching and using charging stations 😭. Once you get familiar with it, it's a breeze. Most of the charging companies apps show the current status (available and / or operational) of the charging poles. For some companies (PTT I have in mind) you can even make a reservation at a certain time. If you are going on longer trips, you'll be happy how much money you'll save compared to gasoline or diesel

French mafia chaos: Phuket residents slam tourists’ alley blockade - video

I'm sure they all have a driver's license, proper motorcycle ownership, tax and insurance 😬. Not to mention a helmet. Yet there is zero action. -
The abrupt welcome on my 3rd Visa Exempt
CLW replied to popabear's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Or China 🤣🤣🤣 Small anecdote: before the great plague I was doing a solo trip to Shantou. Relatively small city near Shanghai. At that time Air Asia had really cheap flights from Thailand to there. So I got my visa in order before. No issues. However, at immigration I was taken aside and the officer took my passport into some back office room. After 10 minutes another officer came back and told me in basic English, that he had never seen a passport from my country (EU) before and had to consult with his colleagues if it was a genuine passport or a fake document 🤣🤣🤣 -

Not downplaying what he did but so much effort and attention. I wish drunk driving, speeding or the yearly burning would receive such swift response- 198 replies

Bangkok Taxi Driver Slashes Passenger's Face in Violent Attack
CLW replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I can only repeatedly say: vote with your feet meaning use exclusively grab taxis or metered taxis and ignore those scammers. May they go out of business soon. The sooner, the better for everyone -
Bangkok Taxi Driver Slashes Passenger's Face in Violent Attack
CLW replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Yes, terrible income because they refuse to take passengers by metered fare while hoping to make a catch of the day finding some idiot paying their inflated fixed rates. On the other hand I've never heard grab taxi drivers complaining about their income 😁 -
Bangkok Taxi Driver Slashes Passenger's Face in Violent Attack
CLW replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
According to the auto translate of the video clip: the passenger asked for a metered ride. the taxi driver refused. Which made the passenger slam the door hard. This upset the taxi driver and in an altercation he used the knife to slash the face of the passenger. It's not reported if it was for self defense during the altercation or if there was some provocative fight or whatever. What I found strange that the news clip shows the driver in hospital with bruises and arm bandage but not the victim with the slashed face. Maybe the taxi driver was beaten off scene or during the restraining efforts? -
Unfortunately no drivers display. But I am afraid this might sooner or later become standard. Does it have the option for a HUD?
-
Yes, but that car is what it is. A cheap taxi. I've ever sat in one, it is same interior and worse built quality as a Toyota Corolla Altis in base trim. Just a taxi. You wouldn't want to drive this as personal car....

Yes. Bingou is micro car comparable to Suzuki Swift. The Cloud I'd say is comparable to Toyota Yaris

SAIC IM L6 first look and comparison with Tesla Model 3. The car (or the similar SUV LS6 or LM6) was shown as mockup at the December motor show at the MG booth. Sales most likely to happen through MG dealers. The staff mentioned that for the upcoming motor show in April there will be more details available including a possible RHD model for viewing.
