A misleading headline. Very unlikely he was attacked by the dogs who knew him , and for whom he was caring. He probably died of a heart attack, leaving the dogs with no food for several days before he was found. The dogs will now likely be killed, to the delight of all dog and animal haters on AN and elsewhere.

In my case late teens...

Bodily we start to die from around our mid-twenties, if not sooner. Personally I started to be grateful for another day of life aged around sixty, after forty years of both hard work and hard partying. Now eighty- three, and my gratitude for another day of life is stronger still. No idea how long I will last, but so far so good. Leading a quieter life these days...

Most of the people who profess to hate Donald Trump don't know him and have never met him. It was the same in my own country with Margaret Thatcher. I can fully understand someone profoundly disliking the policies of prominent people, but I find loathing them rather odd.

Speaking as a foreigner, with no dog in this race, I feel Harris' supporters would be wise to shield her, as much as possible, from pointed questions. She has likeable qualities but, up to now, she appears to have difficulties when closely examined on policy issues. This is going to get tougher as the election nears. BTW my UK bookmaker now has her odds on to win, albeit by a small margin. He's seldom wrong, which is why he's a very rich man...

My UK bookmakers are now, marginally, offering odds on a Harris win come November. Not so long ago they were forecasting an easy win for Trump over Biden. I reckon this is going to be a very close contest...

Nonsense. This is entirely about many banks in many countries now closing any customer's account which has an overseas address. It is part of a general clamp down on the rise in money laundering offences across borders. It has nothing to do with pensions, or pension related issues. I had the same experience with Barclays UK, No warning, just a brief message saying that as I had an oversas address they would be closing my account in 3 months. I have been with Barclays since 1957, and my family since way back in time, however our long history counted for nothing in this case. If you do your research properly you will find that thousands of others have been faced with the same experience as myself.

Regarding the Thais, I agree with you, less so regarding the Chinese Thais. I would also make a special mention for the Taiwanese. I spent 5 years living and working in Taiwan, from 1987 to 1993, following various postings in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and East Asia. I found the authentic Taiwanese charming, kind and helpful.

As I'm sure you are aware there is a difference between avoidance and evasion.

The revised regulations proposed by the Revenue Department have yet to be approved, and may never be. Even if, at some point in the future, they are approved there is then the issue of enforcement, which is casual, at best, in Thailand.
