Four Thai Nationals Killed in Attack Near Israel-Lebanon Border
Scouse123 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yep, And ISLAMIST Hamas have made sure there have been no free and fair elections since 2006, and use 2006 as a mandate to continue to commit their atrocities. They were and have been fighting Fatah, as they pursue a violent path leading to the basic separation with the West Bank controlled by Fatah and Gaza by Hamas. Hamas has for years redirected aid for the Palestinians towards armaments and are well known for using human shields and places such as hospitals and schools, as storage facilities for their weapons. -
Guys, I purchased a new car and have paid monthly, but it is in my partners name, which is fine. Can those payments which have all been paid out of my bank be declared as a ' gift ' to my partner, the car is in her name and it is in effect a gift from me, which I wouldn't be taking or asking for back, so it's a permanent gift.
-
I don't think so, and whatever I had if any, would be a fiddly amount not worth mentioning. I keep any decent sums left these days in Cambodia and have done for a long time, in interest bearing USD accounts. I just want to file and remain in the new rules, I have drastically cut my bank transfers to Thailand over the last few months. If I have until March, I can wait for further direction or information being released for foreigners, then file in January. The biggest outlays I have is partners salary, car payments on new car which are all but paid and health insurance. Everything else is mundane household expenses. Will I need to take this years bank statements for the whole year with me to the Revenue office, showing incomings????
-
Hi, I think I will wait further information then go to the revenue office, which is nearby my home to file. We are a small town and I prefer the option of getting assistance from an officer there and filing the tax return with hard copies. They are quite a helpful friendly bunch here. I see no point in filing 2021-2023 when the new rules are only coming into force this year. I have no bank interest to reclaim or declare, I transferred all large sums out a long time ago. I only keep the 800K for extensions and living allowances money in Thailand now. Although I have been with my partner 28 years now, I believe I must file as a single man, even though she gets a salary from me, because we never married.

Yesterday I tried a number of times to contact Expat tax Thailand, based in Bangkok, and their website was not working correctly to submit my details. Their website was full of glitches. After this I got to thinking, that with living in Isaarn, I was then wondering if any people who are living up this way have any recommendations for a straightforward tax adviser that is closer to home? Bangkok was quoting 7,500 baht for a simple basic service, staying within the new rules and submitting the tax forms, which, if it must be done, sounded OK. However, they quote 7,000 to get a Thai tax number, which I think I can obtain myself easily and FOC. I am just looking for the basic service, informing me of my deductible allowances and submitting the forms. I don't believe I will have tax liability. Also, I have been with my partner for 28 years but never married, we live together, houses and cars in her name together, does anybody actually know if she qualifies as a Spouse for tax purposes????? I was going to apply for a tax ID, but I have heard some members have been turned out at various revenue departments, because these departments not being up to speed with these new tax rules, or know nothing about them. Should I just wait for further clarifications from the government announcements? https://www.expattaxthailand.com/ignoring-thailands-new-tax-rules-is-it-worth-the-risk/

Hi, With the new layout, is it possible to clear the notifications log? I have 127 pages, and I am sure other members have more. Before it used to be very simple, it just used to say clear notifications log, now I can't seem to clear it

Thailand’s Medical Insurance Rules Confuse Tourists
Scouse123 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You make a lot of common sense points in your post. He said in his post at the top when fresh faced tourists arrive and see all the above going on around them, it's quite easy when in holiday mode and not paying too close attention, because ' everybody is doing it ' that they just follow the crowd. Unfortunately, it comes home to roost when there is a claim. -

He may not but he probably realized through experience that they were not native English speakers. I can tell immediately when a Khmer speaks Thai that they are not native speakers. -

I had it in the UK last year at an ATM, when two Eastern Europeans approached me asking the whereabouts for a street that didn't exist as long as I have lived there. I shouted at them to wait until I had finished at the ATM and they briskly walked away, it was a simple attempt at diversion tactics to steal either the cash or my card. They got neither. Nobody with any sense approaches a person using an ATM to strike up a conversation without an ulterior motive. -
Are retirees moving to the new DTV visa - anybody done it?
Scouse123 replied to Scouse123's topic in General Topics
I've explained my reasons in the opening post. I am not saying I would go for it, but I will certainly check out the option. I am hearing more and more about people just paying agents 15K a year and that's it. TBH, I've always been a bit frightened of that option. Now, I am hearing about people passing away and they are literally freezing the 800K, it's making me think seriously that honesty is not the best policy. @Caldera Please read the above, it makes one think. -

Ah OK, Well I am never here 12 months solid and take at least two trips to UK a year and two or three to Cambodia. So border runs wouldn't be an issue. Not saying I would go for it, just trying to find out the pros and cons. -

If you are referring to the ' being educated ' point he made, I've got that covered having experience in both catering and the music industry, to apply for the soft power visa. -

Always shied away from that option, not for any holier than thou reasons, mainly because I worry about it coming home to roost. The Immigration officers would be moved for a week to inactive posts, but the unfortunate retiree would be left in a world of $hit -

But there was this:- The same hadith is also quoted by Ibn Kathir (died 1373 CE ) in his Koranic commentary (Tafsir) of Surah Al-Rahman (55), verse 72: "The Prophet Muhammad was heard saying: 'The smallest reward for the people of paradise is an abode where there are 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome decorated with The number of 72 virgins in paradise is not mentioned in the Quran, but is instead found in Islamic Traditions. These traditions include the Hadith, which are sayings and actions attributed to the Prophet, and the Book of Sunan, which describes the features of paradise Just pointing this out, personally I believe it as much as I believe in the Archangel Gabriel, Noah's Ark and all the rest of the junk. -

I can't see them asking tax returns as not their domain, and from what I can gather the 500K shown, is there to prove you can support yourself, but unlike the 800K method of retirees and ensuring 400K is left in at all times, there is no mention of this money being left in the bank all the time. Besides, you can have the money in another country and currency!!! Even the 800K method is stupid, the two months before and three months after leaving funds untouched was, they reckoned, designed to stop agents putting up the money to obtain extensions then pulling it out again. However, if a retiree is supposed to be using these funds to live in Thailand, why must they permanently lock 800K for five months, (two months before and three months after), and lock the remaining 400K permanently in the bank. Back on track to your other point, I believe you are spot on in waiting, as we need more information to filter through regarding the 500K, Bank statements etc and is the 180 days renewable every year, or just once, and will there be all of a sudden, a policy change leaving people high and dry. I too, was considering soft power option on catering, which I have experience or concerts and music, similarly, I have experience. My Non O retirement extension is next July, so I have time. -

OK, split hairs all you want if you think it boosts your presence here. I'll correct it. The overall vast majority of international terrorist attacks are the direct work of Radical Muslims, Muslim fundamentalists, ISIS, ISAL,HAMAS, Hezbollah, and many more, and these vile acts are committed by those who profess allegiance to these organizations. The reasons we undergo such strict security at airports and in our daily lives is a direct result of the actions taken by these people.
