They are buying fabrics etc and smuggling it in with these goods on an industrial level. Feckless! They don't fall for it, they are willing participants. Another thread that will go nowhere as everybody has their own entrenched ideas and interpretations of this new system. Meanwhile the powers that be remain silent. If their own regional offices don't know what is going on, how do they expect expats to know? What about the thousands that aren't on Asean Now to gather news, fact or fiction, and don't read the Thai gazette? It's all as clear as mud and the only ones asking you to trot off to the tax office, (which many have and have been turned away by officers who haven't a clue what you are talking about,) are those tax advisory offices and those with a vested interest in getting customers.

I agree with a lot of Filipinas being moley faced and their food being lousy On terrible accents, you have the high pitched shrill of the Thai woman that speaks/ shouts as though you are sitting on the other side of the street. Then you have the whiney, exaggerated politeness from the toothy Filipino or Filipina, and the artificial respect they afford you, until they have their feet under the table. Both are mercenary when it comes to money, both come with excessive baggage, such as lazy families, and both lie like a side walk. Cambodian women are much gentler and simple. Vietnamese women blow them all away in the beauty stakes. I have been with a Thai for 28 years now, and there has been some bad times, but the good times still outweigh the bad. I'll stick with what I have thanks 🙏

Never received any benefits with a card and frankly, the deals are not that much better over a normal supermarket IMO. When I broke my card previously, they made us get a new one at the desk before we could do our shopping. I wish they had done for us what they did for the OP. Even in 7-11 etc. I give back to them those silly stamps, I don't want them and if they are of use to a member of staff, good luck.

I grew out of the shallowness of expecting love, sincerity or romance from go go girls a very long time ago. It's a fantasy dreamworld. I was in that industry in Pattaya many moons ago. What I can say is my maids for the hotel were paid twice monthly, and I can guarantee you that on those two days, there would be a number of motorbikes outside coming to collect their wives/girlfriends from work. Regarding somebody's comment above about Thai loser males collect go go bar girls at 4am, that used to be normal as well, as the men were coming to relieve the women of any cash they had earned that night. In the very early days, women were more than happy to spend every waking hour with you, mainly to ensure a rival didn't get their hands on you. With the tourist boom, and foreigners plentiful, that has become a thing of the past. In recent times, how many times have you heard the girl say they can't stay all night, and want ' silly money ' if they do. That never used to be the case. To me, the attitude displayed by the Thai men, few of whom worked, was all very mercenary. These women tolerated and accepted it. The men were the bottom end of the barrel, not working, unkempt and many tattooed up, but these seemed to be the limit of interest these girls could attract in Thai males. I myself have witnessed middle class Thai men talking with these girls, and one thing they don't give them in any shape or form, is........... respect. There is plenty of male schoolboy, giggly, drunk conversation from this class of Thai male with these girls, but nothing meaningful takes place. They take and treat them for what they are.
