  1. Does Thailand not trust the Chinese which is the opposite of what the Thai government said it was trying to preserve its relationship? China said it would substitute and support the certification of substituting the German-made engine with a Chinese-made engine and guarantee engine warranty. Thailand's insistence on a German engine that has been largely copied by the Chinese disservices Thailand's Chinese relationship and gives Germany another excuse not to allow its engine in the submarine thereby damaging Thailand's relationship with Germany. Score O wins and 2 losses for the new government.
  2. Just a side note: The India government is considering changing the country's name to "Bharat," meaning "fire" in Sanskrit or the Hindu king Bharata. So they would get referred to as "Barats," a celebratory wedding procession? Or worse in English as barrats?
  3. He was asked, " Why should voters pick your business acumen as their blueprint?" and he responded, "They're not actually picking me as such." He got that right. Ultimately, it was the unelected Senate.
  4. There are three factors to which the gift tax applies: Inheritance income exceeding 100M THB Immovable property or rights of occupation of the immovable property less than 20M THB except property given to son or daughter without any return Shares, cash, and property subject to various exemptions. There are further complexities.
  5. Biden has added over 759,000 new manufacturing jobs over the 2.5+ years in office and recently committed $200 billion to new projects. Trump over four years failed to revive American factories with fewer people working in manufacturing by the end of his term. ref. April 2023 https://fortune.com Trump promised to make sure energy pipelines were made of American steel and iron. But he never did with resulting job losses in pipe and tube mills. But I give Trump credit for paying almost $200,000 in taxes to China for operation of Trump hotels and the takeover of America's largest oil refinery in Texas to Saudi Arabia state-owned Saudi Aramco. Subsequently, Trump urged OPEC to raise oil prices that would help American oil and refinery companies to greater profits. Of course the price increase ultimately is paid by the American consumers.
  6. Maybe it was - coming from world crass countries.
  7. I believe there's a loophole in the Thai inherentance tax. The property must be "registered" in Thailand, ie., with the Thai government (see "Panama Papers" accounts) offshore). As such it can be seized if the tax isn't paid. Note: In Thailand there is a 10% Gift Tax for non-related receivers and 5% for descendants or ascendants.
  8. It's ALL available on line. Not been lost, not been destroyed, not been hidden by DOJ.
  9. From Lazada help center: No COD for total order value exceeding 20,000 baht. Sellers don't offer COD or deliver parcels by themselves In multiple product orders from different sellers placed in a single checkout might not open for COD option.
  10. With pc don't log out from web site, when leaving pc put in sleep or power off/restart will close web site. Better yet as noted by Scubascuba3, get the mobile app that will keep you logged in eveen power off unless you specifically log out of the app in the app itself.
  11. Remember this? BANGKOK, 12th November 2017 (NNT) - "The Prime Minister (Prayut) has asked the public to have more faith in the government and all it is doing for the country." Or this? Jul 27, 2562 BE (Thai PBS World) — "Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has asked the public and parliament to have faith that the government, under his leadership, will perform ..." If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ....
  12. Looking for quick solutions that don't depend on enforcement: In the instances where your wife or friend drives you to a commercial destination, you could be dropped off close to the store to minimize walking, park the car, then join you. On your own perhaps you could use a wheelchair. There are also many variations for mechanical walking assists such as the Rollator on Shopee for about 1,800 baht or compact seated electric scooters such as the UYIGO found in Lazada, for about 14,000 baht. You might also consider using more online purchasing with delivery, ie., Tesco Lotus's.
  13. A General who is a close associate of PM Prayut and involved in the 2010 military crackdown on PTP protesters. Obviously a champion of the People. Not. What happened to PTP's candidate civilian politician and educator Sutin Klungsang? Not left enough for the military?
  14. Immigration/BOI is very accommodating with the LTR. I got my LTR visa (Pensioner) on Nov. 8, 2022 with first report date of Nov. 7, 2023. Subsequently, I left Thailand for the month of May, 2023. On Aug. 24, 2023 I went to same place BOI One-Stop Service Center in Chamchuri Square, Bangkok at the LTR visa window to get the annual report date adjusted to Dec. 7, 2023 because of my foreign trip. Instead they just posted my 1st report date completed as of Aug. 24, 2023 and issued me a new report date of May 28, 2024.
  15. What hypocrisy. MFP won more Constituency MPs and list seats than did PTP. Add to that the slightly less numbers for PTP, coalition of smaller MFP-leaning parties and you get a very strong coalition that can support MFPs progressive agenda sorely missing from Thailand governance. MFP was ready to serve "We The People." But PTP said No. Being part of the MFP coalition was not enough power for PTP themselves to control the government. Instead PTP decides to serve "We The Special People." And immediately performs a "mea culpa" with the military.
  16. The RTM is not a sovereign entity. It is supposedly ("on paper") a branch of Thai government to serve the Thai People. Should not then a priority of National Defence be to PROTECT the sovereignty of the Thai People and not the repeated illegal extra-constitutionality that since 1932 has been exercised by the RTM? It seems for the sake of saving its deteriorating power, the PTP now as a minority party has UNDERMINED the public majority's best interests that had been reflected in part by the MFP. And in effect the PTP has committed a political coup.
  17. Or a 10-year Long Term Resident visa for 50,000 baht?
  18. Isn't the GOP against men in "fancy dress?"
  19. It is ironic. Wissanu was one of the "legal scholars" who helped lay the juristic foundations for authoritarian rule in Thailand, exponent of a "legal-military alliance for illiberal constitutionism" and proponent of theories that legalized coups d'etat "by reference the continuity of the Thai state as embodied by the king. (ref. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wissanu_Krea-ngam ) Now the former legal advisor and spokesman to the NCPO coup leadership and subsequent legal advisor/ spokesman throughout the Prayut regime adjudicates legal demands for a convicted political leader while Wissanu got royal amensty along with the entire NCPO coup leadership for essentially treason under the 2007 Constitution. Thank you PTP for the very hypocrisy you allegedly fought against.
  20. Feb. 2022 & Dec. 2021 "Opposition Pheu Thai MP Julapun Amornvivat told the House that it is the responsibility of the government, not the opposition, to ensure there are enough legislators to make up a quorum in the meeting chamber." https://www.thaipbsworld.com As I understand, the new PM wants a way for the House to in effective prevent further failed quorems. That would eliminate what little political power the opposition coalition has in the House. Might as well then be called a civil coup?
  21. COVID 19 pandemic contributed, 53% say they weren't living paycheck to paycheck beforehand. https://www.bankrate.com Other factors: large families, additional care for elderly family members (ie., lack of adequate healthcare, high cost of medicine), living in areas of high cost of living, income not keeping pace with inflation, industry downturns, irresponsible credit card practices. Gender disparities with women earning less than men. 42% Bridge millennials/millenials who aren't saving, have no existing savings vs 14% Baby boomers/seniors. There are political affects, particularly by so-called conservatives. Trump removed state income tax deductions from federal taxes, Reagan eliminated many job-related and healthcare federal tax deductions. I suspect also political corruption as well wherein wealthy personal and corporate election donors get enriching legislation not available to the average wage earner. Examples: "How Big Corporations Scored Coronavirus Relief Funds and Small Businesses Lost Out" - July 8, 2020 https://sanantonioreport.org and "Corporations that Received Billions During the Pandemic Cut Thousands of Jobs and gave CEOs Millions" - April 2021 https://citizen.org/news
  22. Was looking for a GPD Pocket 3 mini pc 8" touch screen Windows 10/11 for international travel, nowhere to be found in Bangkok electronic stores. But available on Lazada 30,000 baht imported from a small Chinese startup company (capitalized by GoFundMe). Paid with Lazada Wallet - Lazada chat with vendor got free a specialized carry case and rechargeable touch pen (screen can swivel into a flat tablet position).
