  1. And they did. Sucks to be you.
  2. I'm currently visiting my son in the US (SoCal). We went out for breakfast - two coffees, one avocado toast w/salmon, one omelette with bacon/hash browns/toast. Bill was $60 USD. Crazy. Another evening - two burgers, one beer. $62 USD. Plus tip. Prices "under control", lol. No effing way.
  3. No, he is President Trump by virtue of the fact that he held the office previously. Former presidents are still referred to as Mr. President, even after leaving office.
  4. If you read the demographic breakdowns on the election, you'll find that more young African American males and Latino and Hispanic voters moved from the D side to the R side in this election than in previous elections. Trump's campaign experienced gains in the so-called "minority vote", despite running against a candidate that many would describe as being a minority.
  5. No and no.
  6. Exactly. OP habitually posts inaccurate information such as this in his zeal to bring us all "breaking news", lol.
  7. I flew out of BKK yesterday using fast track and the e-gates are now installed and operational in that area.
  8. This is a solution in search of a problem.
  9. The word racist for sure. Usually people mean bigoted or prejudiced when using the word racist. The word literally has somehow been co-opted to become its antonym. Many people say literally when they actually mean figuratively.
  10. Without attempting to get into the politics of the US election: 1. The article states the US Federal Reserve will "gradually" cut rates. In other words, the previously expected tranche of consecutive rate cuts may not materialize. This doesn't necessarily "support" the dollar but it slows the weakening of the dollar that would occur if the Fed continued on their previously expected course of action. 2. When looking at what candidate Trump has proposed, it's not the spending side of the equation that's of "concern" to some, it's more the revenue side. He has proposed eliminating taxes on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security payments. That means less revenue, so even flat spending results in a greater deficit, if those things were to happen. He would also like to continue with the tax cuts he achieved during his Presidency, which are set to expire in 2025. That would also reduce incoming revenue. Add to that his tariff proposals (generally inflationary in economic theory) and we're back to higher interest rates for longer. (Disclaimer: I am not voting for either candidate and this post is in no way intended to reflect a preference or dislike for either of the US presidential election candidates.)
  11. Nate Silver is no longer associated with 538, btw. ABC news bought it.
  12. False. No assessable income, no need to file a tax return.
  13. Sorry, I don't understand the question as you've written it.....? If you are asking if I think the early voting is higher than during COVID19 - or because of COVID19 - I'd venture to guess that COVID19 got people used to voting early and they realized it's a lot easier than standing in a line for hours on election day.
  14. OP seems politically savvy enough to know but referring to this as "early voting results" is not exactly accurate. There are no "results" yet - just demographics of early voters. "It’s unclear what this means for the election, however. The early vote data only reveals whether voters are registered with a party, not who they are voting for, and the early electorate can change from day to day as more people vote early. The surge in 2020 Democratic early voting was largely a reaction to a pandemic that no longer exists, skewing historic comparisons. And what might seem like demographic trends in the early vote can suddenly disappear once Election Day votes are factored in." https://apnews.com/article/early-vote-records-trump-harris-1c219d0d27d56996388f2e2be5a58fac
  15. I just received a text from Japan - "Yeah, we don't think so...."
  16. The poster to whom you are replying lives in Georgia, USA. He couldn't hack it in Thailand but logs on here occasionally to slag on those of us who live here. The vast majority of his posts are during burning season when he tells us how much smarter he is than everyone else for moving away from CM to the US. I'd put him on ignore but I'm entertained by his ignorance and self-congratulatory tunnel vision.
  17. Wait a day and try again. I had a similar situation booking a flight from CNX to DMK - the luggage add-on function for the flight I intended to book was inoperable. I checked other flights, same route, and luggage add-on functionality was available, so the website "problem" was with that particular flight. I waited 24 hours, tried my preferred flight again, and the error had been corrected.
  18. The one travel agent that still exists in a storefront somewhere (near you, apparently) is grateful for your business.
  19. This may be true but if you live on the NW side of the city, the convenience of the TOPS market and the BBL branch open on the weekend was quite nice..
  20. It's the business model. They start with a low delivery fee, get you used to ordering through their app, then once they have a steady customer base they increase the fee to improve profitability. As far as cancelled orders because there are no drivers, you do know that we've had rampant flooding in parts of town over the past 10 days or so, right? That means (a) fewer drivers as some cannot get to work and (b) increased demand for food delivery as potential diners cannot get out and about. This exact scenario also applies to Bolt, Grab, Food Panda, inDrive, etc.
  21. More like 7K for filling in a form and you skip the queue at Immigration. That said, if you meet the financial requirements, there are agents who charge half that - and for that price, I pay to skip the line.
  22. Zero chance that Assist Thai visa charges only 7K plus govt fees when the customer cannot meet the financial requirements. That's why he's being quoted 25K, which I'm guessing are quotes from Assist Thai Visa and OS Thai Visa.
  23. Extended my permission to stay last week using an agent. As usual, I had to provide the financial details that proved I qualify for the extension (in my case, twelve consecutive monthly deposits of 65K THB or more, i.e., "the income method"). No other financial details requested/required.
  24. https://huahincab.com/ 2,000 thb (includes tolls) Edit to add: for a Toyota Camry vehicle.
