  1. Lives in the far north, extension done in the far south, agent in the centre of the country Does not sound dodgy at all lol
  2. Your agent will not be able to do your 90 day report in Trang, because you will have filed a TM30 at your new address
  3. That 7 days grace is to make a report, not to leave the country, you will still have failed to make a report and as has already been said there is a slight possibility of a fine next time you do one.
  4. To quote a mod here "There doesn't appear to be any specific nationality they're targeting, no number of days in thailand, no previous number of entries, although ED and Volunteer visas (especially those b/s back door ones people got during covid and those covid extension stamps are considered "stamps of death" .. " So actually, she can expect to be scrutinized on arrival.
  5. I fail to see any irony? Anyway, no need to use both "dystopian" and "nightmare", they are essentially synonymous 🙂 Also not sure The Independent can still be considered a "rag" as it has been online only since 27 March 2016 And can it be considered to be a UK paper when 71% of shares are owned by non-British people :-)
  6. Wow, not a single person I know in Sakon Nakhon has ever had to do a TM30 when returning from overseas. In fact, I only know 1 person who has even filed a TM30 at that office.
  7. I see no mention of a card for the vendor to scan ? "The 50:50 co-payment scheme provided a 50% subsidy rebate of the purchase price published by the participating vendors with up to 150 baht rebate a day and up to 3500 baht rebate per person per campaign (Chantanusornsiri, 2021). To benefit from this co-payment rebate scheme, consumers were required to possess a smartphone with Internet access and had to use m-payments because physical cash transactions were not permitted." https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1029313222000380 No mention of a card here either? https://publication.npru.ac.th/bitstream/123456789/1474/1/npru_219.pdf
  8. Both owned by private companies The facial recognition software will be used to identify and then issue fines via text message - not to debit any bank account. https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/china-police-facial-recognition-technology-ai-jaywalkers-fines-text-wechat-weibo-cctv-a8279531.html
  9. You really should read up on which stores you can spend this 10k in, let me give you a clue, "mom and pop" is not on the list.
  10. True, but gonna be centuries before the rural mom and pop stores and the street vendors only or even accept digital payments.
  11. This is not a digital currency in the same way as say bitcoin is, it is a 10k virtual wallet given to citizens, a one off, not an ongoing income stream As you maybe aware Thailand is still very much a cash driven society, that ain't gonna change anytime soon. Also, you posted this on September 15th 2018 (a long time ago I know) "Songthaews should starts doing QR Code Payments - Print the QR barcodes all inside the songthaew, would make life alot easier for passengers and the drive, and less dangerous for passengers who have to stand at the side of the vechicle to pay Also Having 2 baht, or even worse 12 (5+5+5+1+1) baht in change every time is so annoying. " You really should make your mind up if you want to go digital or not.
  12. What? Human slavery? You think the populace are going to protest being given 10,000baht?
  13. No, your extension will not be "cancelled by default", it still needs cancelling correctly at immigration here
  14. This can prove very hard to do for people such as oil and gas workers. Their shift pattern may well not fit in for getting the extension or any "under consideration" period. That is why a multi Non-O is perfect for them, and there is absolutely no reason for them to have a "holiday" each time they need a new 90 days, that is a foolish idea.
  15. The average tourist stays between 9-18 days, so will not be doing an extension at all https://www.statista.com/statistics/1154981/thailand-length-of-stay-of-hotel-guests-by-region-of-origin/
  16. The comment was made about "bs" for tourists, last time I checked tourists don't go home in Thailand, they fly in and fly home.
  17. The hotel files the TM30, it does not involve you in any way shape or form. So you are not dealing with any "bs" at all.
  18. Seeing as they have posted email addresses for assistance for Thais, legalisation and Thai passports not too onerous a task to email them if needed. Also they don't accept visa applications at that embassy, it has to be done via the evisa system. So all in all, it really should not affect you at all?
  19. For a single person with no deductions that person will be liable for 45,500 tax per year Married with no kids is still 36,500 per year The above are based on 65k per month income
  20. OP be aware that the waiting time for a toursit visa interview in Bangkok currently stands at 87 calendar days!
  21. Correct, I still can't figure out why a genuine short visit tourist would sign up to college, please enlighten me. If I was the consular office and you tried using that as a reason for a short term tourist visa, I would laugh in your face. You are not allowed to study on a tourist visa. If however you are suggesting that she applies for F-1 visa and does not attend the school, that is a 350USD visa and that is without any fees payable to the education establishment that she would have to apply and be enrolled in.
  22. How on earth will that help her prove that she is a short term tourist? Ridiculous idea!
  23. Read my post again, and you will clearly see that I did not mention about the extension/border hops. Please explain to me how knowing how much the OP paid for the course will help you answer his question.
