Thailand Warns of New 'Super Meth' Pill Entering Market
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Given that hundreds of millions of meth pills, and hundreds of Kilos of crystal meth are seized almost weekly in the Kingdom, "staggering" seems like a stretch. Between January 20 and February 4, authorities seized a total of 37.23 million meth pills, 434 kilograms of crystal meth https://www.nationthailand.com/blogs/news/politics/40046021 -
Thailand's Tourism Boom: 5.5 Million Visitors and $8B Revenue
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Based on articles of this type published over the last twenty-five years, which sometimes mention this... they use an Average Spend per Tourist figure, presumably based on historical data, and then just multiply the two numbers. That's my best guess - because they sometimes mention this average spend figure in press releases. They have a different ASPT for international and domestic 'tourists'. -

Good to see that they teach extortion here at an early age. And people say the Thai education system has failed the Kingdom's young people. -

IRS in the time of DOGE and Musk
bamnutsak replied to sqwakvfr's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
I think Musk intends to fire 6,000 probationary employees at the IRS, but they haven't been fired yet. Again, I don't read a lot into our two experiences. -
Pai's Tourism Woes: Over 1,600 Foreigners Arrested in a Year

It should be embarrassing for RTP officials to use two-year-old stats. Surely 2024 stats are available. -
IRS in the time of DOGE and Musk

I filed on 1/28 (here), refund deposited 2/6. I don't read much into that, just assumed that early filers don't represent that much volume so their returns are easily processed, likely automatically. -
DOGE/musk seems focused on the 150-year-olds for now so we may be safe. But Musk does seem erratic, and subject to hissy fits - some here remember his behavior during Tham Luang cave rescue - so I wouldn't rule out the possibility of actions. Anxiety Mounts Among Social Security Recipients as DOGE Troops Settle In “Social Security will not be touched,” Trump answered, echoing a promise he has been making for years. Despite his eagerness to explode treaties, shutter entire government agencies and abandon decades-old ways of doing things, the president understands that Social Security benefits for seniors are sacrosanct. “Social Security will not be touched,” Trump answered, echoing a promise he has been making for years.
