US Homeland Security chief looses her purse in DC
bamnutsak replied to bendejo's topic in Political Soapbox
Ms. Noem is still shagging Corey Lewandowski. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14625547/kristi-noem-cozy-corey-lewandowski-department-homeland-security.html What a pair. Lewandowski served as trump's campaign manager for a brief spell in 2016. He's wedged himself into "de facto" Chief of "Staff" for Noem and DHS. I think it's more likely a foreign security service pinched her bag to get her phone. -
Can you expand on your statement/experience? Still free for me, I have two GV numbers. The "Business" version is a paid service. For international calls, from the U.S., you need to pay/buy credits.

Is This Going to Happen
bamnutsak replied to baansgr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Did these folks mention any changes in the income method? Any timeframes? This rumor pops up here every year or so, for the last ~ 20 years, with similar attribution to "Immigration insiders". If past performance is any indicator, those in the 400/800k or 40/65k buckets would be grandfathered, and any increases would affect those applying for a first extension of stay. And I think any new rules/laws would need to be announced at least a year in advance. -
You need a US mobile number to complete the original registration.

Report People's Party Plans Bold Legal Move Against Prime Minister

Knives are out. Someone is not sharing the skim. -
She would create a new GMail account, you could specify the username and password. Then she would register for GoogleVoice with her mobile number. Then you could use it here.

Vietnam might get squeezed given their "deal" they made with trump? A 1.5 Billion USD trump hotel, StarLink approved, will buy Boeing aircraft, in-bound duties on cars (Tesla?) and LNG reduced...
-
You could ask a family member/friend (in the U.S.A. with a mobile number) to create a new GMail account and register for Google Voice for you.

Yes, AFAIK all providers here each have several int'l calling options. AIS has 003, 005 and 00500. 003 is an add-on, goes as low as 2.01 baht/min to the USA. https://www.ais.th/en/consumers/package/international/international-call/003 And there are 3rd party calling cards and apps, some of which have free local access, and calls to the USA (landline or mobile) range from 1 to 1.5 baht/min.
-
Which mobile provider here? I think some/all offer discounted rates of 1.07 baht/min and/or 2.675 baht/min from your Thai mobile to a landline in the U.S. There are calling cards here too that offer similar rates. For example, DTAC, 004/00400 https://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/services/tourist-sim-international-call.html

I guess I'm surprised you qualified your statement with "largely".

Credit card fees
bamnutsak replied to CallumWK's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
My Fidelity ATM-Debit card gives the daily Visa exchange rate. The 220 THB ATM fee is reimbursed. Fidelity upgraded their ATM-Debit card with zero foreign transaction fees Sep 28, 2024. I was never charged that 1% fee. My daily limit is $1,000. Fidelity has a no-annual-fee Visa credit card that has zero foreign transaction fees. -
Credit card fees

For those of us from the U.S. this statement is incorrect/misleading. Using an ATM card here yields the daily Visa (or MC) exchange rate, and my bank refunds the 220 baht ATM fee, usually within three working days. Using a credit card here also yields the daily Visa (or MC exchange rate), and my three Visa cards all offer ZERO foreign transaction fees - always stipulating that the charge be rung up in THB. https://usa.visa.com/support/consumer/travel-support/exchange-rate-calculator.html be sure to change the fee from the default 2% back to 0% https://www.nerdwallet.com/best/credit-cards/no-foreign-transaction-fee Two of my cards have no annual fee. One card is $95 per year, which yields cash benefits exceeding $95. -

I assumed that you would also be getting a standard credit card from KBank. Hence the use of the word "Companion". I don't think there are (m)any local Thai credit cards with zero foreign transaction fee. This topic has come up quite a few times here and a search/review didn't yield any options. I don't think you can get a card issued in the U.S., where we do have quite a few options - I have three cards, all with zero foreign transaction fees, and two of which have no annual fees. -

If you plan to travel outside of Thailand and assuming you have a KBank account, maybe consider getting companion (to the Visa credit card) KBank Journey card? https://www.kasikornbank.com/th/personal/debit-card/pages/journey.aspx Other banks here have similar travel cards, I use the SCB Planet card. I'd also look at Thai reviews of the specific credit card you are considering. -
With the DTAC app you can see the name associated with your SIM/number/account. My Profile, main app window to the right of your number Your registered name is displayed Insure that matches your bank account name

He caved. He folded. He blinked. He realized he was losing. Yeah, sure. If that makes you feel better. BTW, he wouldn't even know which end of the sledgehammer to pick up. -
