  1. if you had said sorry and promptly put your mask on they'd probably let you go
  2. I've used GICA saliva kits a few time, the sample tube is a bit fiddly as the 'lid' don't secure against the tube quite properly, popping out when you try to squeeze the drops out onto the test strip, plopping out making a mess and ruining the kit. Haven't had any other saliva kit, but never had problem with the tubes on other nasal swab kits
  3. it's a genuine concern that others may have had a copy of his passport detail and used it to send contraband abroad, and he would be implicated in the investigation, it's better he confirm his identity plus a deposit to ensure of his innocence now and they'd assure you that everything is above board and totally legal and they're the police
  4. apps like whoscall is simple enough to install and forget and it'll flag known scammers and might even show when legitimate business calls
  5. it can be done online, but it seem to require Thai ID card, not just the 13 digit no. as there's confirmation code 'laser ID' at the back that's required to register an account to file your returns. but doing it in person at the office is also possible, they're quire helpful in letting you know what you can deduct
  6. I don't think TGM and Belucky are local, they have their own shop yes, but the production is in Bangkok Is Yorkie still open these days?
  7. does the average police know what an extension of stay looks like and how to check for them?
  8. ฎ also maps to upper case E on the keyboard
  9. The property being your 'sole residence' exempt you from the property tax if the property value is less than 10m Baht It is understood that having people in the Tabien Baan qualifies you to the this lower residence bracket. In late 2020 I was sent a letter from the Khet in Bangkok informing me of what tax bracket my condo was going to fall under, I was given an opportunity to reply back with evidence you could have random Thai in the blue tabien ban if you want to save 1-2000 baht a year in Tax, since the tax is only 0.02% for property up to 50million baht, so people that qualifies for the free tax if you have people in Tabien Baan is for houses and condos valued below 10 million, and at most you'll be paying is 2000 a year, so if trying to get the yellow book or moving people into blue book is only going to save you max of 2000 baht a year for most houses and condos If you have a company owned property and it got classified as commercial property or empty land then you're looking at 0.30% tax, which is why you see empty land being turned to banana farms for the past two years.
  10. There's a whole building full of prosecutor or what they call themselves attorney general in Pattaya they do pro bono work and do meet with public to file things like wills and such, so they have an office you can get to Normally the police is the front line that decides if they forward case to the prosecutor to charge for criminal case
  11. isn't this the very first issue he tackled head on upon seizing power 7 years ago, and my understanding from the much publicized public visit to lottery vendors by uniformed police officers and news crew, there are no overpriced lottery, or any prostitutes in Pattaya either
  12. the reports from Thai facebook groups seems that there are slight reliability problem with the hybrid system that could leave you stranded on the roadside- but on occasion where it occurs, the service from the dealer in picking the car up for warranty work is excellent, unlike the other Chinese brand like MG. many nagging issue with the software on the infotainment system being laggy and poorly designed in certain areas but not deal breaking The brand's still in the launch phase and their reputation is on the line so anything that goes wrong is likely to be remedied satisfactorily who knows what'll happen 5 years down the line, but looks like they invest a lot in Thailand and will be here for the long haul Reliability from Japanese brand is no better these days, plus you get less for your money's worth If one's lifestyle and living situation allows for all-EV I'd rather wait for that as all-EV cars has less mechanical thing to go wrong and the Chinese has as much of a level playing field if not a head start with established brands
  13. Horn is rarely used here unlike the west, but I doubt due to politeness, the uses of horn seem taboo and seem to escalate most road rage onto internet stardom with clips featured on facebook groups like 'I drive like an A*hole' thai equivalent or even national news, use of horn seems to attract more rage, unlike in the west where horns and verbal exchange of expletive is enough to relieve anger and both parties can move on. you can drive like a maniac, swerving all over the place but the moment the horn is invoked, you stop the car, open the door and proceed to next phase in physical confrontation
  14. the difference in interest between the 'online' only accounts and fixed term deposits for 800,000 is what? I doubt it's over 2000 baht in actual interest earned
  15. their logic is that the guy in the lane they intend to move to would close the gap the moment he sees indicator flashing, thus using the indicator is a disadvantage and only for pussies
  16. if your version of tart is just slightly sour, อม เปรี้ยว om priew is 'hidden note of sour'
  17. even if condos committee decided not to allow home isolation, they kind already do, even during the last wave, people were waiting up to weeks to get hospitalized, at my condos, we had to implement a protocol to accept garbage from infected rooms, having security deliver food up to their door. if a condo decided they won't have any infected person on building ever they'd have to throw residents out on the street while they wait to be picked up into hospitals
  18. Both BMW and Benzes are just equally unreliable, looking at how much Lexus charges extra over both European brands here, I'd say reliability has its price
  19. only things like color change, engine change with different serial no. or type of fuel like addition of LPG/CNG system is recorded you can see the chain of custody in owner change, if it changed from an owner to the insurance company, that might be a telltale sign of a total loss write-off, but the next owner could declare the blue book loss and get a clean one only showing the most recent owner

    Cash refused

legal tender just means that it can must be accepted as payment for debt, as for service or products not yet rendered or consumed, they have every rights to refuse your cash if you had ordered something in a restaurant and eaten it all up, and only learned after the fact that they won't accept cash, that is now their problem as you had valid legal tender
  21. there's no such thing as government appointed notary public in Thailand most you'll get is some lawyers who certified themselves as notary public by taking a course or seminar so look for a local lawyer
  22. Looking at cost of networking equipment right now, at the price they're going even if I run a small hotel with 20-80 guests, or small business with a handful of employee it's hard to justify the cost of equipment from new network card in every machine or new m/b, access point/ router to take advantage of the extra speed, it's hard to justify the speed increase right now... and for the lone user? I suppose it's fine if you're not paying anything extra to get it
