even here on this forum there're members who insist that agents 'convincing' the IO to not look too closely at the 800,000 seasoning in what appears to be a bank passbook is totally not a bribe

Did you run a dedicated wall outlet for the 'emergency' charger to plug into when they installed the wall charger? of do you just plug the emergency charger into existing outlet? not a good way to find out if your existing outlet is up to standards

Cannabis available - on the Motorway !
digbeth replied to TorquayFan's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
alcohol is banned from roadside shops, as well as the usual time limits.... it's a strange world that cannabis is less restrictive than alcohol at the moment. the usual 'Buddhist' group that usually has their panties in a bunch crying anytime there's derestriction on alcohol in the discussion is surprisingly quiet on cannabis... some say the anti-alcohol group is in the pocket of Thailand's big beers company and only interested in keeping the status quo -
those that say covid is over and thais should stop wearing masks should not have any say in how the Chinese are coming, bringing in more covid, covid is harmless now right?

VPN vs Cloud Computers for connecting to home from Thailand
digbeth replied to WaveHunter's topic in IT and Computers
It will work for now, but don't count on it working in the future, as the method to access online banking from another computer looks like you're being scammed, it's in the bank's interest to guard against that -
VPN vs Cloud Computers for connecting to home from Thailand
digbeth replied to WaveHunter's topic in IT and Computers
It will work for now, some people are already doing this the website can look what other program is running on the same computer, there are call centre scam that people were called and ask to install remote access software such as teamviewer and the scammer in india will access your bank account on your computer, for banks that guard against this could ask you to install protection software that will looks for this or use the bank's own app that will detect if it's being run on computer that has remote access If banks are proactive in protecting their user they could disallow remote access while using the online banking, some already do when using their app -

English language ability and the Thai professional class

the annual book fair would beg to differ, with attendance from all over the nation with kids from out of town willingly travelling to Bangkok to buy the latest books, the breath and variety of book on offer if heartening but it is true that literacy and reading for pleasure are the preserve of the few, rather than many, pocket books costing half a day of minimum wage is not tenable, plus the local bookstore, even chain store ones are a dying breed -
There were a shortage of lea&perrins last year but it seems to have come back, only Branston pickle or piccalilli would be the difficult to find in all branches of the typical supermarket

The 300 scooters are good grocery getter, the underseat storage is really vast Honda ADV750 rides better with proper motorcycle running gear but still an automatic, but it loses out on the storage, plus even used ones are around 250grand still For those that say they can't get their leg over the tank in something like NC750, the scooters are still quite wide and those who are inseam challenged will also struggle at the lights to put their foot down

The Forza has electrically adjustable windscreen but should also come with electric folding wing mirror, it's sorely needed when filtering through Bangkok traffic, some Thai garages do have conversion kit made though, most Thais seem to just fold them permanently and attach small mirror instead.

sometimes they're on sale buy 2 get 1 free in Foodland in Bangkok there are now better 'artisanal' ice creameries like Guss Damn Good that you don't need to buy a whole pint off, just an occasional scoop is probably enough How's the new pink ice cream shop down Jomtien beach road? is it a tourist trap? -
Apart from Nichada There are no such continuous area of middle class moobaans, but there are areas where's there's concentration of them like some suburbs of Bangkok like SriNakkarin road and Bangna road where there are multiple gated communities and international school and private university in the area, but of course there'll be poor people housing between the gated community There are integrated area with their own school or universities in the past like Muang Ake in Rangsit with their own university or Muang Thong Thani but most of these have failed and are open to the public and they just let any rift raft in, no gate and can be quite run down in places

VPN vs Cloud Computers for connecting to home from Thailand
digbeth replied to WaveHunter's topic in IT and Computers
If you're signed in to teamviewer, you don't need to keep track of the ID, the computer should show up when you log in and you can connect right away. good banking app should detect that remote access as it looks exactly like a scammer compromising your system and impersonating you, hopefully accessing the Bank's website just through the browser should be okay -
if you have one on your person at the airport you can get in trouble, some airports cops are really out to get you, I've flown to Chiang Mai many time no problem, but at Hat Yai, once they saw it in the X-Ray they were on to me, but I had managed to bin it before I leave through the gates. If you're not street smart enough to recognize what kind of <deleted> you're in, don't take them near a police or where you'll be searched. I think I got caught out since Hat Yai is close to the Malaysian border and a known source where to get anything from duty free booze and cigarette to vapes, they were kinda on the look out for it

if it's two signature either both present or either is sufficient, it would be printed/written on the bank book along within the system, plus under UV light, the other signature would show It the text has been there all along that both signature is required, your regular branch has been lax and letting you withdraw
