Renewing a Driver's Licence Without a Yellow Book
rwill replied to Robbkk's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
A couple of years ago was my last renewal. I did not need a medical certificate for it. Just the residence certificate. The last time in addition to the vision/reaction tests I had to watch a video that lasted about 45 minutes. But no test on it. -
Swiss man’s wife missing in Thailand after inheriting 13 million baht
rwill replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Ok. She disappeared. So how would the young relative know/think she was dead? As Scuba said she should have not let anyone know how much money she had. Sounds like she had loaned money to several people too. Perhaps one of them didn't want to pay it back. -

Land title chanot question.
rwill replied to surreybloke's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
The house book does not show ownership. A chanote does that. -
We recently poured the ashes of my brother-in-law and my father. My mom had brought some of his ashes over to me for some reason. We hired a boat for the ceremony. We were the ones that poured the ashes into the water. This was by the Pak Kret pier on the Chaophraya River in Bangkok.

A couple of days ago I was driving from Bangkok back home to Ratchaburi. On the way there was a pickup truck in front of me with 3 falang sitting in the back. They seemed to be having a grand time and were even waving at some of the other cars as they passed by. I think they were even amazed to see me, a falang, driving a vehicle behind them.

Should I close my Thai bank accounts?
rwill replied to CartagenaWarlock's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I was looking at SCB's website yesterday and they had an article stating they made 54+billion baht in profit for 2023. -
I'd rather see a woman with ribbons in her hair than ones with those awful eyebrow tatoos, fixed noses, pasty white bleached skin, etc...

You should have been here about 30 years ago. Queues were pretty much non existent. It was just whoever pushed hardest.

If you get the original visa in the USA the funds do not have to be in a Thai bank. They can be in a US bank. But after that to extend your stay in Thailand the funds need to be in a Thai bank, at least 2 months before applying for the extension of stay. I would recommend applying for this regular non-0 visa with a 90 day stay. Once in Thailand open a Thai bank account as soon as possible. Then the last month of the 90 day apply for the 1 year extension. (This avoids having to do the medical insurance certification every extension.) non-immigrtant type O retirement It is also possible to enter Thailand visa exempt then apply at immigration for the 90 day non-o. But maybe a bit harder to open a Thai bank account without having the non-o first.

Perhaps but it will make for lucky lottery numbers. 23, 73, 08, 47 Seems wierd that people look for lucky numbers from death and accidents. -
There are some good herbal lozenges available at pharmacies here for soothing the throat. Carbon pills can be useful for absorbing bacteria in the gut. There are different brands, CA-R-BON is one of them. I recommend capsules over pills. The pills are very dry in the mouth.

Another 800 000 baht question.
rwill replied to jvs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The best option is to get the bank to remove his name from the account. I have no idea how hard that would be. Otherwise she has time to open a new account in her name only. You need the 800K at least 2 months before applying for an extension. But then she still might have to show having the 800K for the 3 months after the last extension and 400K after that. Which would involve showing the joint account. That could be messy. So I would say for this next extension either get his name taken off of the account or use an agent one more time. As a joint account holder she can access the money in the account. -

3 day suspension is so harsh. That will teach him a lesson. -
I recently did a 90 day report online about 30 days before my next extension. It was approved.
