  1. Jim, That's my favorite comment, "It's not that bad today'.
  2. I moved too, but as you say, not the same vibe down here. I am north of Pattaya now, air is clean. Shame, great place there for a few months a year back when. First came in 1999, and the river road just north of the old huge hotel there, (Porn Ping?) was mud. Tiny town. Rented a Honda Dream drove up into the hills north of there and met some hill tribe folks who helped enjoy some of the local herbs. And lay down and smoked something, but I don't think it was tobacco.
  3. Bob can you give you one with a baseball bat.
  4. My father passed away due to that. He was a very heavy smoker for many years.
  5. Well, I stand corrected. Will I be barred from the conversation?
  6. If you really want to help somebody in prison here, go help the two Burmese kids in Samui who were convicted of murder ten years ago.
  7. Helping a prisoner sounds real good during cocktail hour with the bleeding hearts club from NYC, but better to visit a hospital as mentioned or a retirement home.
  8. I did that in Chiang Mai. I visited the prison north of town and asked of there was anybody who never got any visitors. So a smiling guy from Angola showed up. He couldn't believe anyone wanted to even say hello. I met some people there who worked for aid agencies. They seemed to know all the prisoners quite well. They told me about the guy I was feeding, so I decided it would be best not to let him get to know me that well.
  9. Oh ya, when I was in prison we all had that book.
  10. There are many many christian charities and other groups who do this all the time. They get plenty of donations from all over the world.
  11. Well, go feed and comfort them. See how it goes.
  12. You're living in the wrong country. They didn't get there by accident.
  13. Do you think you will never be elderly? We are very respected here unlike where I suspect you come from.
  14. Shame they can't allow a certain number of Western DJ's here work permits to supply foreigners with quality tunes. I've never met anyone who likes Thai Pop music besides the locals.
  15. A more constructive comment might be, 'When this happens to me I try to take a breath and walk away for a moment'.
  16. I have also worked all over the world. His comments are welcome to be discussed, not dismissed as some moral or emotional failing.
  17. The first actual Russian I ever met was while sitting outside a mini mart in Phnom Penh years ago. While having a beer the lady ran out screaming. I was a regular customer and she said please come and help. There was a naked Russin guy maybe 30 yrs old in their shopping. But he didn’t have a wallet. I said hello and he said ‘I have my passport, I have my passport’. Then the cops came and were so embarrassed they left him wandering around on the street. Thirty minutes later some plainclothes cops were seen escorting him away in handcuffs. The next one I met was while taking a TEFL Course in BKK. He wanted me to play the front man for an illegal business and pretend I was a lawyer. OK, that’s the first two.
  18. No....Not at all, but people that are not retirees, who own a business, or have a valid work permit who stay here longer than 3 months a year have to support themselves somehow, spare for a very few who are wealthy. And since the planet earth is very aware nowadays that Russians/Communists exhibit much more criminal behavior than most....well
  19. Its true, much more from the manufacturing and crap diesel engines with dirty injectors than people will admit..
  20. Thai men will not marry divorced women with children. That covers a lot of territory.
