  1. I have spent quite a bit of time in Chiang Mai the past several years as I have free access to a house. I do have a girl there I spend time with, play golf in the morning and do some of the nature activities but otherwise I find it pretty boring. I guess it is OK for tourists for several days to see the temples and go to the outdoor activities out in Mae Rim. I assume they have the impression it is a charming place with the old city and ancient walls. The Chinese seem to love Nimman which in reality is a bunch of coffee shops and restaurants. I have not seen the hotels as being that great (Bangkok much better) at all in fact it is mostly smaller backpacker type places. The best hotel is probably the Four Seasons out in Mae Rim which can run around 10 to 40,000 b a night during high season. Also, in addition to the burning season which makes the air very poor for several months, I have rarely experienced extended periods of sunny days. Most of the time cloudy/overcast with rain in the afternoon. The last time I was there the sun literally did not come out for more then a few days for an entire month. Probably just me I am not sure why it would be rated so high. Some do seem to love the place. But, good for CM maybe it will help bring more tourists there in the future.
  2. Always love the " it is nice growing old together" crowd. No it's not. Can be with an old lady in my home country why do it here? My rule is 30 years younger minimum. Keeps the energy up never boring or lose attraction.
  3. Tried them all. Arno's at Terminal 21 is number one for me.
  4. Maybe they will attach some other tracing/contact device for you to carry. To add, anyone who does not have a smart phone in today's world must be out of touch with reality. The app serves several functions including contacting the user if they have been in proximity of Covid cases. It seems the right and responsible thing to do in these times. But, I guess if someone is involved in criminal activity they might be afraid of it.
  5. Many burn outs sitting too much in bars. And, mostly those who will bag on and complain about any place.
  6. Just a heads up Netherland does accept Sinovac. The Sinovac vaccine is recognised as valid proof of vaccination by these countries: Austria. Cyprus. Finland. Greece. Iceland. Netherlands. Spain.
  7. It is still a lot less expensive then many western countries and as long as males throughout the world have testosterone, Thailand will remain popular.
  8. https://visaguide.world/news/45-world-countries-recognise-chinese-sinovac-vaccine-for-travel-amid-covid-19/ Not promoting Sinovac I don't want it but now accepted by 45 countries including several westernized counties that have good doctors and scientists. I would assume they have done their research and come to a proper conclusion before recognizing it. It is obviously not saline or a big zero like some claim.
  9. This was my experience. And, did not feel the maintenance costs were worth it.
  10. Over the years millions in the world have survived sickness and death because of vaccines. I think current anti vaxers suffer from some type of mental illness. Conspiracy theorists, illogical, I am in shape and better then others braggarts, and truly weak/twisted minds. So many stories about these types sucking on ventilators their last breathe pleading to then take the vaccine. Seems sick and demented.
  11. Interesting, I would think they should accept what you have. The U.S. states rarely if ever asks for a passport for identification purposes and it was not required for the vaccines. My friend there showed me his certificate it was a flimsy piece of paper with his name and vaccine looked very easy to counterfeit.
  12. I drank a few beers and had sex 3 times. Finished all my "chores" in a prior life no more of that nonsense. Renting a nice big condo sure makes life more free, easier, simpler, and much more enjoyable.
  13. What Is a Fit-to-Fly Certificate? COVID-19 Fit-To-Fly medical certificates certify that the holder of the travel health form has tested negative recently for COVID-19. Fit-to-Fly medical certification generally requires travelers to show proof of negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test results up to 72 hours before departure. The U.S. requires the 72 hour rule. An Antigen test is also accepted. The place you get the test should provide you with a certificate of negative test.
  14. I live in Pattaya and stupidly bump my head all the time. Low doorways and stairwells walking from those back rooms or down the stairs in the massage shops always seems to be a problem.
  15. 40 million tourists not here spending money seriously. Just drive around any city it looks like a depression not good whatsoever.
  16. Who you claiming selfish? Thais or expats or Falang?
  17. Why not? India man love this place and love Thai girl so much. They will come.
  18. Does he have a link or audio verification? I think it is him talking not tourists. I know several people in Phuket they eat and drink in restaurants and even bars with booze served in coffee cups. If people cannot think outside the box and figure out how things work here, that is their problem.
  19. Either way I have no problem with it. Seems a good start and test to reopening. Also, many people including a fair share in TVF have declined to get the available vaccines. Waiting for Moderna or Pfizer. Or, because it is an inconvenience not wanting to drive a few hours to get it. And, here we are.
  20. What Visa do you have? Good luck not easy now to open an account if here as a tourist.
  21. I much prefer one hour but if wanting extended company always follow the 3 day rule. Usually bored by that time anyway.
  22. There are domestic flights leaving Phuket airport to Bangkok and Utapao (Pattaya). Today, Thai Lion air to DMK and Nok air to Utapao. And, Nok air has flights a few days a week to and from Utapao/Chiang mai.
  23. San Francisco is much much worse then this place. And, they did away with any laws regarding defecating in public so there are piles of feces and urine smell everywhere downtown. Just pull down your pants and take a dump no problem. A shame, it use to be a beautiful city one of the best. But, certain politicians seem to have ruined it. I have not seen nearly the homeless or feces problem here thank goodness: So far in 2021, San Francisco's streets have seen fewer reports of feces than both 2020 and 2019. An SFGATE review of 311 case data found that there were 13,856 reports of human or animal waste in the city between Jan. 1 and July 12, which is down from 16,547 reports of feces over the same time period in 2020
